Too expensive for no reason. Their broth that they boast about is sub-par, at best. Their sandwiches have very little meat and their try to overcompensate this by filling it with way more radishes than a banh mi calls for. Baguettes are hard as a rock and they still choose to serve them. I've been waiting to review this place for a while since I wanted to give them a chance, but when I went in and asked if I could have extra cilantro on one banh mi, and no cilantro on a 2nd banh mi-- they told me there would be an extra charge.... Where's the logic in that? I proceeded to just order the regular amount on each, went home, and had to pick out the cilantro myself from one sandwich to place it on the other. Overall, would not recommend to others. Go a few blocks further and grab something from the hole-in-the-wall spot, Nam Nam instead. read more

Mama Pho - Classic Banh Mi-- where's the meat? - Vietnamese Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This review is for take out: I've had this pho 3 times so far - quality is consistent each time. Their broth is one of the best I've had here in New York, and it's clear they take pride in the taste and quality. The portion of meat is also generous. Overall, the pho makes me nostalgic of pho from my home state of California - which says a lot! read more

this place is really good!! I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the broth was- I got the ribeye pho. It's super clean and the service was great, was not expecting such great food and service for a place that's open 24 hrs. Would def recommend for late night eats!! read more

I am still thinking about this bahn mi so I feel it's only appropriate that I write a review. My friend and I had a long day and she wanted something cheap, veggie and close to our trains. I'm a fan of East Willamsburg because you can still find cheap deals, good dives and locals. We made our way and were not disappointed. The place is huge and it was not very full. We did not let this fact deter us from the grubfest. There's a ten dollar minimum on cards. Meals are so cheap it's almost easier if one person pays for two. We got the mushroom bahn mi's. The bread was perfectly toasted and not too much bread versus filling ratio. The mushrooms were super juicy. I loved the fresh vegetables that are stuffed in the bahn mi like carrots and cilantro. Distinct flavors this don't compete with one another but compliment each other, the sandwiches were huge! And still wayyyyyy under ten bucks each. I secretly miss these lunch deals! I will be coming back with cash and an empty stomach. Please open a location close to Bushwick so I could just eat bahn mi's and watch Netflix!! #livinthedream I will be back and I know what I'm getting! read more

It doesn't look like there's many options for pho in this neighborhood, so we gladly gave Mama Pho a try. The interior has some interesting artwork on the walls. It's the kind of place where you order at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. They have a simple menu with the usual Vietnamese comfort dishes. We ordered... $5.50 Classic Banh Mi - Pork roll, pate, ground pork, pork belly and headcheese, with cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon radish, toasted baguette: It was quite a tasty banh mi with good bread. The pork was salty and delicious. The vegetables were fresh and tasted lightly pickled. I was intrigued that the banh mi included headcheese, but I couldn't quite taste it in the banh mi. $9 Ribeye Pho - ribeye, brisket, beef ball, rice noodles, Thai basil, onions, cilantro, mung bean sprouts, jalapeno slices in slow-cooked beef broth from scratch: This was some pretty good pho. The broth was pretty light. The noodles were alright. We usually ask for beef on the side, but forgot this time. So we were happy to see the the soup topped with rare beef. The food is not bad. $9 is more than I am used to paying for pho. Sure I've had better elsewhere. But if I were in the neighborhood with a craving for simple Vietnamese dishes or just wanted to sit down to a relatively inexpensive and quick meal, Mama Pho is a pretty good option. I give it about a 7.5/10. read more

**2.5 Stars** We decided to grab lunch here because of its close proximity as we were short on time. You place an order at the counter then they bring the food to you. After your meal you come back to the counter for payment. We both ordered the rib-eye pho which consisted of rib-eye, brisket, and meatballs. Our order took awhile to come out which I found unusual because there were only a few other customers (who were already eating) and all we ordered was pho. Most pho restaurants, the broth is already made piping-hot so they would just need to add in the fresh ingredients: noodles, veggies/toppings, and the meat and it's good to go. When our food finally came, we were happy because we were famished! The broth was OK it was herbal, but at the same time a tad bit watery. The meat was too fatty for my taste and they were very stingy with the meatballs, which happens to be my favorite item...They had cut them up really small-- probably 1 or 2 whole meatballs in there, if even. Overall it was a hefty bowl of mainly broth and noodles. My experience here was just short of average. The service was OK- reiterating the food delay plus I had asked for extra lime which they forgot about. Their menu only contains a limited selection of pho, banh mi, and some vermicelli dishes and the prices are higher than usual. But it's the only pho restaurant in their 'hood. On the plus-side, my boyfriend informed me the second Vietnamese iced coffee was free of charge (they had brought out two though my BF ordered only one). Initially, I myself didn't want to order it because in a previous experience ordering their coffee, it had been made a bit watery. But that was a nice little suprise! :P read more

Mama Pho - Rib-eye pho - Vietnamese Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

As a MD/DC native, it pains me to pay for more than $10 for a bowl of pho. [Good] Vietnamese eateries in NY don't seem as prevalent, so I decided to try this place out (even after seeing the menu prices). Given the $16-28 price range, I was expecting the best damn pho of my life... The first time I came, I ordered the Signature Pho. It's served in a large bowl with a variety of meat cuts and a poached egg. While it wasn't the worst pho I'd ever had, it certainly didn't justify spending $28 on soup. The meat was fatty, which I actually liked, but the noodles were sparse and the soup was too mild for my taste. Where was the fish sauce?!? The second time I came, I ordered the Papa Pho and a classic banh mi. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the Papa Pho and the Signature Pho outside of the poached egg. The real disappointment though was with the classic banh mi. I received the flimsiest sandwich with a sliver of head cheese and an abundance of hoisin sauce. For the same amount of money I spent at Mama Pho, I could've gotten 6 banh mis and bowls from Nam Nam a few blocks down. While this place is okay, I always seem to be less than content with the overall experience. read more

As a Vietnamese person, don't understand why this place has bad reviews. This is the only good pho spot I've found in NY, and it has all the goodies: tendon, tripe, marrow - yum. The broth has also been consistently flavorful as well, and the best thing is that they provide culantro (not to be mistaken with cilantro). I think my only gripe is that for the price, there could be more beansprouts and greens without the additional $. But NY rent is no joke. read more

Mama Pho is an ok place to go! I'm new to Pho and ramen dishes and didn't mind my pork dumpling pho. It came with plenty of cilantro, onions, jalapeños, hearty noodles and a flavorful beef broth. It actually came with a ton of it, so if you see an item in the pho that you like but do t want a lot of, be sure to request a light amount. The dumplings were large and in charge, definitely hard to eat with chopsticks but delicious none the less. Vegan options are readily available and we ordered through Uber eats. We had no issues besides them giving us regular instead of diet coke. They gave us a small side of thickened soy sauce that added the perfect touch to our food. It already was rich in flavor, this was the perfect topper to enhance the heat and pho. Prices are not amazing but I was happy with the quality and quantity. If it's close to you and it's up for debate, I'd say go for it! read more

I've gone here twice and I can say that I've had better. I don't like to rate a restaurant on take out because it's not the same experience as eating there but it's eh. When I eat pho, I pay attention to the way the broth tastes more then what's added in. I like more a spicy broth to bring in flavor especially if a soup lacks that. This broth is nothing special. I got the papa which in my opinion seemed like it was a regular sized soup put in a bigger bowl but not more noodles. I don't see myself going back as I was not wowed. I don't even see myself bored eating here. It just didn't do it for me. My roommate, who I went with did enjoy the food. The restaurant is small but has late hours if you want tot tu it or need a late night meal/snack. The music they play is a lot of covers. It is a pretty chill and homey setting. read more

Thought I would leave a positive review as I got the chicken pho and fresh rolls last night on a recommendation from my Filipino friend and it was really good. The broth was delicious and helped me recoup after feeling generally queasy the past few days--so big thank you Mama Pho. Chicken was yummy and fresh. Lots of herbs. The service was great too for late night delivery. To be fair the fresh rolls were not my favorite but not worth avoiding by any means--they just go a little too heavy on the veggie stuff in my opinion so I felt it was a little bland. But that being said I got a tofu roll so it's probably my fault. Definitely will order again though. Comforting. read more

I've tried a lot of phos throughout the years, but I keep coming back to Mama Pho. Their broth is what does it. It is deliciously rich and has a great depth of flavor. Goes for both their beef and chicken broth bases! read more

I usually love Mama pho but this time around when I ordered there was hair in my food. A long piece of hair was baked into my Spring roll. I couldn't even stomach the thought of eating the rest of the food I got so I just tossed everything. *during coronavirus* There are two tables for outdoor seating, which were covered with tarp since the restaurant was doing construction work in the front. We ordered two banh mi to go - 1) classic banh mi 2) pulled pork banh mi Honestly, both sandwiches tasted the exactly same. They contain the same pulled pork filling but the classic also had the normal pork salami I expected. The pickled veggies lacked flavor and felt a bit soggy. The only redeeming factor was the fantastic crispy bread. For $12.75 a sandwich, this is a total rip off. You can get a better banh mi in Chinatown for $6. read more

I had the chicken supreme pho and it was just okay honestly. The egg was a nice touch to it but the broth wasn't as tasty as some other pho broths that I've had in the area - I usually order from Banh Mi Place and decided to switch it up but unfortunately this spot just didn't do it for me. read more

Good for late night pho cravings, but honestly overpriced & very very skimpy with the meat. Paid like $15 for pho that came with 4 pieces of meat. All broth and noodles it's boring inside no music playing, just one person working. Not very welcoming or helpful at all. read more

Wow.... Really great food at a super price!! Mama's is definitely no frills. You order at the back register and the food is brought to your table. The space is small but gives a more spacious feeling. It has a counter & chairs on one side. The other side consists of wooden tables with one bench spanning the length of the wall. The acoustics are phenomenal. There is no noise pollution or loud music to spoil the food experience. The menu is awesome. There is a choice not jut for everyone, but also for every season. My kids wanted Pho for my Grandson who had a cough & stuffy nose. But the weather was a little warm for me to order soup, regardless of how tasty. It's wasn't easy to narrow down the menu choices to one. I settled for the Classic sandwich, which included a number of different pork sampling along with a generous amount of sweet shredded carrots & cucumbers. The roll was really good but would have been better with a less thick crust around the sides. The ingredients should be the main focus. It was my first experience with Thai iced tea, which is amazing. I am sipping "to go" seconds even as I type. There was one problem. The restaurant had absolutely no knives. That's a problem with a 2 1/2 year old who wants to eat his own Pho. Mom must pre-cut the noodles. The restaurant was clean, well lit & staffed for efficiency. The clientele was classic Williamsburg. read more

They were a disappointment today. Not even busy at all, I called to have the Bahnh Mi Special #2, at 1 PM for lunch as I always do. I get there pay for it and sat down and wait another 20 minutes and it wasn't even done. I had to ask for a full refund for the poor service and time today. I have to get back to work, I thought by calling in advance I'd have my meal ready but that wasn't the case. I was really enjoying this place. But not anymore. read more

If I can leave a ZERO for this place... I would. I've had chicken pho in many restaurants so ordering one would have expectations. Let me start off with something simple. I ordered their coffee, which is amazing but I ordered a large (valued at $8.00) and what I received was 3/4 of a cup and mostly filled with ice. Secondly, I order a chicken pho. Just by looking at it, it looked pretty pathetic to be called Vietnamese. The amount of noodles is for a child, the chicken wasn't even a whole breast, it looked like it was 5 shredded strips. They added cilantro, which I've never had in a pho, but the amount was beyond measures... not even for a Mexican dish. It was completely destroyed and I ended up throwing it out. What a waste of money. Furthermore, let's end it with the staff. I walked in for this order and even with trying to say hello loudly, I was ignored for 10 minutes. Horrible in all aspects. Don't bother with this place. read more

Solid 24/7 spot for pho delivery. Like the other reviews say - double up on the meat if you're hungry. Came to eat once inside - the food definitely shines better when you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home. I always order from here either as a backup to my regular spot in crown heights / prospect heights or when I'm at bf's who lives down the street. read more

This place has 24 hour delivery using Caviar or Ubereats so when I'm starving at 9am craving pho (most places open at 11am), this hits the spot. I get the regular beef or chicken pho with extra broth. You can pass on the $8 shrimp spring rolls. read more

This was my second time eating here. The first time I was really hungry and got a pho with rib eye and brisket. From what I remember it was alright. Nothing special. I got a noodle salad with lemongrass chicken this time. The chicken was kinda salty and the fish sauce came in a to-go plastic sauce container. I also got a viet iced coffee for $4.75.. total paid with tip was about $21 and change. TLDR: overpriced but OK... convenient in the neighborhood and never have to wait too long. Please stop using single use plastic , especially for dine-in orders :/ read more

Wonderful authentic pho place that is clean with great portions of pho that will warm your soul. It is a bit more expensive than most, but it was really difficult to find a place near us. Rib eye was flavorful, broth was good. They do add all the bean sprouts and jalopenos inside the pho so ask for it on the side of you don't like it. Great service. Rice dish also had very flavorful rice and good fish sauce with the lemongrass chicken. read more

I'm going with 5 stars because this is hands down the best pho soup I've found around here. The chicken pho never disappoints. The soup flavor is so rich and fresh and love all the Greens that come with it. The $15 minimum is annoying but I was able to get the dumplings or spring rolls and make it work. I won't go anywhere else for pho again as it's never been as good. read more

$2.75 plus tax for a Canada Dry seltzer. There better be gold and diamonds inside that can.

Disappointing! I was hoping a hole in the wall place would make a good authentic pho :( Unfortunately the broth was oily and the noodles were not soft like the way they should be. My guess is they don't use fresh rice noodles like the better noodle places (for ex: Thai Direct Bowls in East Village or other good pho places in Chinatown). P Poo They also didn't have the authentic Vietnamese chili sauce. The good things about this meal were the ribeye and the waitress who was nice. read more

The pho here might as well be called cup noodles. They're luke warm and uncooked with the hardest chewiest meat. I was so grossed out because I've never had such nasty pho. Not to mention I also saw they make food with their bare hands and not wash them after touching dirty surfaces (which should've been my clue to leave in the first place). I ended up returning my pho because it was virtually inedible. They pretended like they gave me my refund but wouldn't give me a refund receipt even though i asked them 2x for it and watched the lady crumple the receipt right in front of my face. I chose to trust them and left without the receipt. It's been almost 4 weeks and still no refund. I called their restaurant 2x and was promised a return call both times but never got any call from them. This business is just egregious from top to bottom. Unbelievable! read more

I'm sad. Got a pho takeout very quickly while passing through the neighborhood on Grand St. I'm disappointed because the broth was oily, not very tasty, and was only very warm. While the name remains the same, this location clearly changed ownership, again, and for the worst. While they were expanded their options, by adding eggs and intestines, almost everything has been disappointing. The portions shrank, the quality is awful, and the pricing has nearly doubled. I understand operational costs have risen drastically, as if that justifies selling literal garbage for $16+/bowl. Instead of brisket, they charge $4 extra to serve the loose bits of tissue in a greasy stock. I used to love the consistency of this place, even if it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was always pretty great, if not extremely acceptable. Now it's constantly disappointing and probably the worst waste of $20 for a bowl of soup. read more

So, the reason I am giving this a 5/5 stars....is purely 100% because of the quality of the BROTH. I don't know what they do to the broth, how they flavor it, how long they boil it, bla bla bla. And ... I actually don't care. Because it's nothing short of phenomenal. I am writing this Yelp review on a plane, and I am craving Mama Pho, just by writing this review. My girlfriend is too. I love how the finished product comes with an array of different vegetables... onions, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, etc. Squeeze your lime juice in there, and add your Sriracha sauce.....and your mouth will experience an explosion....the likes of which it has never experienced before. Now......what is my only complaint about Mama Pho'? Probably the noodles. I am a Pho' connoisseur, and I have tasted many many many bowls of Pho' from different places...and I prefer "soft" noodles. Thats it, man. Soft noodles. And perhaps they could throw more meat in there as well, but...ya know, this is friggin Williamsburg and everything is overpriced anyway. So, this isn't such a major complaint.......we get it, we get it. They have many locations, so clearly, they are doing something correctly. -Veez read more

I heard so many people talk about Pho and my friend had some and she said it was good. So of course I had to taste it. In so long I never paid attention to this place, but following my friend's eating steps, I dared to try even though I am not much of a hot food eater. I asked them what do they sale the most, the cashier told me the first soup on top on the menu. I had it with chicken instead of steak. To my amazement, it was super delicious. I had had many different types of soups, I make really good soups, but what is outstanding is their unique flavors, all the ingredients makes the Pho soup something that one must eat. As for hotness, it was a bit spicy hot at the right level that I was able to eat the whole thing. To get the right level of spicy hotness on a meal, sounds like a cooking miracle to me. The Shrimp rolls are like wrapped in something that I don't know the name, but do not use napkins to hold it, it gets stuck on the roll. Absolutely, a really good healthy and refreshing taste on the Pho and the rolls. read more
