Good ole Mama D's is a tradition in my family. We have been eating here for what seems like ages!! It's a mighty fine pie with tasty thin crust, a decent sauce, good toppings and a nice price. I'm a Chicago gal, born and raised, so obviously I have strong opinions on pizza and pizza related foods. I'm making the move to the area and this is my guy's favorite spot. We don't order pizza often since it gives me tummy troubles, but when we do it has to be worth it. The Hawaiian we ordered was worth it. The crust is thin and mostly crisp, though the center pieces got a little chewy, the sauce is flavorful and not overly sweet or salty, and the pineapple didn't sog up the pie. I'm not a fan of cheese but the balance on our 'za was fine for me and would probably please any cheese whiz. This place beats another joint in the neighborhood, hands down, but it's not the 5 stars of my Chicago favorite. They also serve Italian favorite dinner plates, antipastos, and chicken fingers. What's going on with Mama D's lately. We ordered two times last week and both time the pizza was sub par. The first time we ordered extra cheese and did not get extra cheese and when asked about it they were offended. The next time we ordered a deep dish ad they said it would be 50 minutes. I gave them one hour and when I got there to pick up to pizza, I waited for almost thirty more minutes. No apologies or anything, I just watched them mess around for most of the time. I finally yelled at them to give me my pizza and they did. There are a lot of other pizza places around and I think I will try some of them. read more

Grew up on this pizza. Was back around town and decided to grab on way out. Dining area was closed due to staff shortages (everybody is nowadays) but they lets us wait for the pizza in the warm dining area while they prepared our pizza. Last night I fell coming out of here as I never been so I didn't expect the steep step. I'm banged up pretty badly. When I asked for ice, they had none. While I waited for my pizza to be delivered outside no one came to check on me which was disheartening. After asking numerous times for help or the manager, I was told when he had time. The owner Bill came out and I explained what had happened I was even more let down as he stood their laughing at me as he said "well building is up to code". How shameful. This has quickly become a household favorite that delivers the same goodness each and every time. Their products come from a local shop right across US 41, so that is great to see one small business integrating it's services with another. The pizza is always thin and crispy, with just the right amount of cheese. I wish they put a bit more sauce, so that is the only reason that I can't give the perfect rating. Friday night pizza night is a tradition in my family and I have tried all of them! To me this is more of a to-go place - never actually dined inside - but this is the pizza of choice in our home -- and believe me we have every chain in the area to choose from. There is nothing like a REAL PIZZA - not something that came off an assembly line like you would get at the big chains. Their pizza isn't five bucks or whatever like the big pizza chains offer but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. I would actually eat this a couple times a week because the leftovers make perfect breakfast and lunch the next day! Aside from a great souce, their pizza crust is unique enough to make it stand out from the others in the area. They offer every type of topping, so for a first time try, go for a supreme to get a taste, but if you want something new and way different, order the taco pizza or a spinach and garlic pie...tastey.
