Hello, the food is good. Service by Anna was TERRIBLE! I have never experienced bad service like this. I sat and watched how Anna treated the other customers. She only checked on me once, was very dry. What is worse after waiting about 20 minutes for her to take my payment, well that never happened. I went up to the counter to pay my bill. She picked up all of the other customers bills at their table.This was my 4th time dinning in, first time ever receiving this type of service. I felt HURT and VERY sad leaving. I never intentionally treat people bad. The other young ladies that waited on me in the past were very kind and attentive. She was clearly having a good day by the way she interacted with the other customers. Lastly after taking my payment she never stayed to see the transaction through. Immediately I took my receipt and left. No excuse for this type of behavior. I will never return to this establishment. Cafe Borgia, service is Top of the line. The owners greet you and talk to you. What looks like a quiet little restaurant in a strip plaza setting is completely not. I was in town for a bit of R&R and after a wonderful massage I was hungry for a bit of lunch. I got more than a bit and I do not regret not one bite of it. The service was on point from crossing the threshold. I ordered calamari, a deep dish pizza, ofcourse being a kid from Chicago, and this immaculate lobster ravioli entree that blew me out of my seat! Now I have to go on an Italian restaurant binge to make sure that my mouth wasn't a virgin to the flavors and that's how it normally taste at Italian restaurants everywhere, because right now! I am willing to keep riding back there regularly just to eat that main dish, and ofcourse trying other entrees as well. Also the Sangria is very tasty as well here. read more

Our second time here. It's a nice quaint little place with maybe a dozen tables. Beautifully decorated like an Italian side street. We ordered a thin crust pizza, spinach, garlic and mushrooms and it was amazing! I can't rave enough about it. We also ordered a bottle of Chianti wine and it was a perfect dinner for two. Service is good, but I have a feeling that if you're a regular, service would match a high end spot downtown! Not saying it's bad, but I think the staff knows how to service the regulars. This review is long overdue as my husband and I have been coming here for a few years--not regularly--but enough times to let people know to support this small, family-owned business. The ambiance is cozy and inviting with only 14 tables. Yes, only 14. Instead of expanding to the masses, this restaurant chooses to keep its vision to retain dining as the experience it should be. The murals on the wall, and the feeling of being in an outdoor cafe while remaining inside, is something you don't see much in the area. The food is always fresh and delicious. We've enjoyed lasagna, manicotti, carbonara, fettuccine, piccata (chicken with capers), Marsala, salad and desserts. The wine is served in large glasses so you get a nice serving to enjoy some Chianti or choose another nice Italian wine on the list. The restaurant serves wine and beer only, and coffee drinks. I've heard the pizza is great but haven't tried it yet. It always looks good when another table orders it. Carry out is available in the back of the building. The owner is very nice and will talk about his Italian heritage with a warm smile. This restaurant is truly a little gem hidden behind big box stores. It makes a nice date night too. This is our second time dining at this restaurant. The first time, I had the sausage and peppers with penne pasta and was very disappointed. Very little sausage, even less peppers and too much pasta. Our group shared a large antipasto salad which was very good. My husband had the Italian Beef sandwich- it was fantastic and a few of us had the calzones - delicious! I had the house cab and loved it! Tonight we dined in again. We ordered the Capres salad and I was so disappointed. The tomatoes were hot house, too firm, no taste. It did advertise that it was served with EVO, but I was wanting the basalmic vinegar. The EVO did nothing for this ridiculously bland salad. The price was for 4 pieces of tomato/mozzarella/ Basil. The restaurant itself is very small, and you can hardly negotiate around the tables. I'm not a large person and to get in/ Out the people at the other tables had to move their chairs. Ambiance, is a 10. Couldn't be better. Make sure to have a reservation, the place is small and fills up. Great pizza. Mild tasting sauce, not too salty. So beautiful to look at I didn't want to eat it. Skip the mozzarella sticks on the appetizer menu. Same mozzarella sticks you would get at a gyros shop. Pizza was horrible, the sauce was sour and the cheese was so cheap it has absolutelyno stretch and tasted like plastic. The delivery driver was extremely rude on the phone and in person. He ordered me to come outside and refused bring the pizza up to my apartment because he said he didn't want to get robbed when I live about 1000 yards from the police station. He was confrontational the whole time and It's the first time in my life I've never left someone a tip before. We've been looking for a local place with Neapolitan pizza and I'm happy to say that we finally found one! This pizza was fantastic and exactly what we were looking for. Golden bubbles on the tender chewy crust with fresh ingredient who could as for more?! We ordered the PRIMAVERA ($18): E.V.O.O., fior di latte mozzarella, fresh arugula, fresh chopped tomatoes, prosciutto crudo and shaved parmigiano. This is my new favorite. It is perfectly balanced salty, creamy, crispy with a little chew and is comparable to much more expensive pizzas that I've had. We also tried the MARGHERITA WITH BUFALA ($17): Imported San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh Italian buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, and E.V.O.O.. Also delicious - a delicate classic what's not to like. The Neapolitan pizzas only come in one size (I'd guess 12") and you will eat more than you think. I'd recommend trying a variety depending on your party. I'd like to say I'll be back to try their regular pizza, but honestly, I'm not sure that I can get anything other than the Primavera lol! If I try anything new, I will update the review. Forget all the positive reviews from the past because they don't apply to whatever is going on now. The food was terrible , we were told they had no bread and my party was there within an hour of opening -we were still charged a service fee for their nonexistent bread. The red sauce was of a very dark color and tasted burnt. I told the waitress the sauce tasted off and her reply was " nobody has ever complained about it". The party seated to our right spoke up for us and said that was not the look or smell of dishes they had in the past - waitress said " well that's the way we make it as of a month ago". read more

Always a lovely time at Giuseppe's. Have been many times. Sometimes, there is a wait (but it is well worth it!) I am a bit picky, so my favorites are pretty basic, but their tortellini and their margherita pizza are heavenly. The restaurant is themed to look like you are actually in a small town in Italy, with the walls resembling facades of buildings and the wallpaper, a mural of an Italian town. I appreciate the effort they put into aesthetics. (Although the effort they put into their food is much greater.) Very cozy, no obnoxious music. Waiters and waitresses are always very kind and accommodating to making suggestions and notes when guests have any dietary restrictions. Can't wait to visit again. I miss their cannolis! read more

I've reviewed before, but I felt the need to add yet another review for the amazing lasagna. My husband and I order two lasagna dinners to go--we eat one and save or freeze the other for another day. Cute place tucked behind Overstock store. My husband had the pizza and I ordered the linguine with white clam sauce. The pizza was very good, chewy crust tasty sauce. More than enough for one person. Now onto the linguine. I had not had it in a long time and it sounded really delicious. However it had a weird smell, like something was burnt. Not sure if the clams were bad or they used too much alcohol in it. I ate some of it and kindly took the rest home and then discarded it. The other thing I didn't care for was the canned and bottled drinks. You have a sit down restaurant that takes reservations but you serve drinks like it's a fast food place. I only gave it 3 stars for this reason. If we go back gonna stick to the pizza and they can keep the clammy linguini. read more

Went here today on a whim with a girlfriend, because our favorite Italian place (Livio's) was closed on Tuesdays. The place was cute and cozy and smelled good. It was also empty. Our server brought us a basket of nice looking little knotted bread....warm, but awful. Hard and tasteless. I ordered the linguine Alfredo with chicken, and my friend ordered the chicken franchese. The Alfredo sauce was awful, possibly the worst I ever had. Lumpy and gritty and chewy. The chicken was grilled (over grilled) with black charring. I took a few bites and when our server came to ask how everything was, I told him my dish was awful. He asked if I'd like something else, and I really didn't. My friends dish was okay. It had a nice lemon sauce. He took my dish off the bill. Very disappointing meal. Too bad, it was a cute place. I will say, they had nice clean bathrooms. "NY guy seeks real pizza in Chicagoland" The headline says it all. I know I cannot find real NY pizza in places other the the NY, NJ, Philly, Poconos and Southern Florida where old time Italian pizza makers moved and passed on the craft, but I thought I'd try in Chicago. My friends warned me not to even mention NY pizza in the Chicago area as people would get mad. Ahhh, I did anyway. I figured what's the worst that can happen? I get into a heart pumping (aerobics) first fight? Luckily, the folks in Guiesippie's contained themselves when I asked they make my pizza with thin crust and make it crispy like a NY pizza. They did a good job! The only thing missing is the anchovy. The sauce is not NY style but good. Overall, pretty good. There are about 20 people eating in this little gem as I write this. I also had the garlic bread. It too was good. One person told me this is the best pizza in the area. Humm, I guess I'll have to try other places to find out. The staff here is very nice. I walked in here to dine inside and it was a really small space. The tables were very close to each other, so that's one thing that turned me off in the beginning. I ordered a diet soda and it was served in a can, which also turned me off early on. I shrugged it off and browsed the menu. They served us a few rolls along with a jug of oil. The rolls were a bit hard, but they were free, so it's hard to complain about free items. I ordered the Margherita Pizza and a Chicken Dumpling Soup. The Soup was unique with an array of spices flowing through the broth. The chicken and dumplings were both plentiful throughout the soup. It was a great shot at redemption for them after the few first calls of judgement. I made a plate of my significant other's House Salad. It had flavors flowing throughout, especially from their dressing. The vegetables were very fresh tasting. The Margherita Pizza was a great size for the price. It was a bit thin, but I love how there wasn't really grease on the bottom. It seems like a healthier alternative to a standard pizza. The service was fast and everything we needed was handled nicely. We didn't have any issues at all with the service. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but to me it's not a great place to sit down and eat. This is the best Italian sausage I have ever had. I tried the Italian sausage & green peppers on my first visit and have gone back several times since.
