I originally called the St. John location but picked up from the Hobart location for my son's smash cake which was $11 and perfect with only 24 hours notice. While at the website I noticed they serve food as well. Yesterday, I ordered the chicken sandwich croissant and it was fantastic. I'm back today and ordering the BLT lunchbox that comes with salad and pie. While in line I decided to pick up a veggie quiche to go. I love this little local bakery. Their baked goods are excellent, fresh and reasonably priced. I've had their cinnamon rolls and they're delicious. The service there has always been great as well. They have a small lunch menu as well, and I'd highly recommend them for lunch as well. We shop there often and will continue to do so! read more

Stopped in to grab some lunch to take home. The gentleman who helped me was very friendly. I ordered a turkey sandwich on pretzel roll and roast beef panini. The box lunches are great value (IMHO). $15 for sandwich/side/dessert/basic beverage. I chose to upgrade to the beef vegetable soup and was glad I did. I ordered extra pastries as well. My granddaughter smashed the shortbread cookies. We loved the baked goods and will definitely be back for more. The downside - I was hoping to have the chicken salad croissant but they had a problem with croissants that day and only had premade chicken salad croissant sandwiches. I chose to skip that option. So I ordered the roast beef panini. When I arrived home we discovered that both sandwiches were made with roast beef (not the turkey pretzel sandwich that I ordered). The other head scratcher was that the picture on Yelp looks very country kitsch and inviting. The St John location ambience could be summed up as very sparsely decorated and had no customers dining at 12:30. If we had actually dined in it would have been a bit awkward. We will plan on giving them another try but our first experience was a bit lukewarm. read more

Really nice space and excellent paçzki. I interviewed a lady eating lunch and she said it was the second time she's been back in a week. I'm told the chicken salad is AWESOME and the "lunch box" is the way to go. You get some soup, salad, or sandwich with a drink or dessert. I only got the paçzki but I took a couple blueberry pie samples while I was waiting for the girl to box them. OMG it was so good, and I'm usually not a blueberry fan. read more

We live in California and were planning the celebration of life for my mother in law in the Crown Point area. She loved her yard and all of the many types of animals that frequently appeared beyond her two cats. Other bakeries we tried were not eager to take on an interpretation of creating her beloved backyard and menagerie. I looked on yelp and learned of Marilyn's Bakery and saw the reviews. When I called they were so eager and willing to make a cake for 50 people that would creatively tackle the theme, play up her favorite colors and flavors. We told them we trusted them and there was no wrong solution. When we arrived in town and picked up the cake (and a dozen gluten free cupcakes), it was a magical and whimsical interpretation and it was perfect -- visually. Then at the celebration we were served the cake and wow! So delicious and moist and the frosting was epic. Not a single slice was left. Thanks for the amazing job. We were so touched and people texted us asking where we got the cake. If you open a location in California I'll be lining up. read more

Bought a large blueberry pie at the Frankfort Farmers market yesterday and it's fantastic! Plump, large blueberries burst with sweetness and flavor in your mouth. Crump topping has nice crunch to go with the filling. Glad the small blueberry were gone. read more
