we've carried out and catered from doreen's numerous times. our last catering order was outstanding, everyone raved about the chicken. however, our carry our order on wednesday, march 25, 2026 was just ok. the chicken seriously was bad. pieces were kinda small and one of the chicken breasts, you couldn't find any meat. i plan on making doreen's aware of it directly as well. read more

So a friend told us that Doreen's had an impossible burger, which I impossible burgers and I need to try it! The pizza they had order looked amazing and it made me wonder if they can do an impossible pizza. Sure enough we called and the lady was so accommodating and even told us that this will be the first time they tried this and to let them know how it was. WELP it was GOOD and we will be back for more!!! The flavor and texture was there and tasty!!!! I spent over a hundred dollars for pizzas, corn dogs and fries, and I was missing some fries. Their online menu shows corn dog and fries, in words and a picture. We go back to get our fries, and was told that the menu had changed. Keep in mind, I was using their menu on their website. She wasn't going to give me my fries. I fussed back and she stated that she would give it as a courtesy, and passed me a paper menu. How is this menu going to help me online? After an hour waiting for delivery, they called to let me know that they released their driver and wouldn't be delivering. No apologies...no care...no nothing. So, I asked what happens with the charge on my card, they said they didn't know and would call me back the next day. Next day, no call. So when I call to see what happened, they said I should receive a refund. Again, no apologies no nothing. The pizza is honestly one of my favorites, it's unique compared to a lot the average places in NWI. It's maintained a bit of a staple in my opinion and seems to hire kids in need of jobs. It's a small little shop, but it's got heart. You honestly can't go wrong. read more

Piping hot delivery! Was very excited to get the pizza quick enough that it was still super hot! Decided to order veggie pizza for myself and it was amazing, added pineapple to it as well. Tried the taco pizza and was a bit disappointed with it because the chips on top were pretty stale. The deep dish or stuffed as they call it was so super cheesy and good. Sauce could have used a bit more seasoning and I didn't care for the weird chopped sausage on the pizza. But all and all it was quite good! Last night I posted a negative comment about Doreen's Pizzeria in Dyer. I mentioned some of their employees were not wearing masks as required, and how I felt about that. I also mentioned the shocking response I was given as a reason when I called and complained. I was told "it was the boss's recommendation to not wear them". Understandably, as this is currently in direct violation of law, I was very upset that the owner would be so arrogant and uncaring of my, and other customers' health. I called Doreen's to address the mask issue before I made my original post. Because of the response I received, I thought it pertinent to inform others of what I perceived to be a potential health risk. I used strong language and may have expressed myself inappropriately. Given our current (recovering) crisis circumstances, I was harsh. Today, I received a phone call from the owner, Bill Delis. He was very apologetic. We discussed the details of the situation. He was professional and respectful. He understood my initial position and why, and was in agreement while offering no convenient excuses for the error. He exhibited admirable character and sincerity when handling this unfortunate and miscommunicated situation. It had to be difficult, if not gut-wrenching, for him to do so, and I respect him, his integrity and his humbleness for it. He seemed genuinely upset the situation had occurred without his knowledge. From this conversation, I now acknowledge and appreciate that Bill Delis and Doreen's does exert best efforts to comply with laws and health safety regulations, and that Bill actually cares to see they are being followed. Doreen's strives to be a beacon to which others should look up to in the restaurant business. I feel badly for being given misinformation and being misled to think Doreen's management did not care enough to follow the law, which is clearly not the case. This appears to just be an unfortunate mishap and bad timing, and I was assured it won't happen again. After the conversation with Bill today, I have changed my position and will be ordering from them again in the near future. Doreen's is a family-owned business and it's important to support them, and other local family-owned businesses, during these hard times. Thus, my opinion of Doreen's as a reputable establishment is amended and my belief in Bill's quality and honest management, for now, is restored. I currently encourage others to become patrons of Doreen's, as their food and service is actually quite good and better than many other local establishments. A very personal and difficult phone call by the owner, to a dissatisfied customer, in a sincere attempt to right an obvious wrong, is something of a rarity these days, shows moral character worth noting, and carries a lot of merit. I will update this again once I've had another opportunity to experience what else Doreen's has to offer. Happy Eating! read more

Ever since I moved out here from Illinois it's been a struggle to find a good pizza joint. Doreens is absolutely good! The fact that they put enough ingredients just enough the sauce is not rough on your stomach were you have acid reflux the cheese is just the right amount I open the box it's not loaded up with oil or grease it's just perfect props to the chef great food you'll always continue to get my business as long as I'm in Indiana! read more

Fabulous food and service! Small local family owned restaurant with great food and eager to please owners who are so friendly! My husband grew up in Chicago but is no longer in the region, when we come back to the area he has to order a Chicago staple, dipped Italian Beef and Doreen's nails it! DELICIOUS! I ordered the Lake Perch (local to the area) and Jumbo shrimp platter. I ate the whole thing!!! In the following picture I had already eaten a fish fillet and a couple shrimp, the owner provided me with lemon juice, it was crispy and crunchy and just so good! We use to love Doreen's garlic pizza. Haven't had it for about a year or a little less, so we got it tonight. It wasn't good. The good garlicky stuff they use to put on it just wasn't there, neither of us could taste garlic, so it was just a cheese and tomato pizza. Not good, VERY disappointed. After reading so many positive reviews, we finally decided to try Doreen's pizza. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The sauce had a sour, almost spoiled taste to it. Almost tangy, but more sour than tangy. In addition, the toppings were very sparse. They did not go end to end like most of the better pizza restaurants. Specifically, the cheese was mostly missing on the last couple of inches of the pizza, leaving just the sour sauce on the edge. While I wish the owner well, I would suggest going to one of the more established pizza locations with better consistency and taste. (State Line, Giordano's etc). Considering the cost of a large 3 topping pizza at Doreen's (almost $30 out the door), I don't recommend it and we won't be coming back. read more

Ever since 1990 I have been eating Doreen's pizza, for the last 10 years have been ordering from this location in Dyer. I have been very loyal to this restaurant name. For the first time, in one Giant pizza. Three of my slices that I bit into, from different parts of the pizza had HAIR. I called to speak to the restaurant and the manager was a very rude lady, who insisted we have to bring the pizza back. I asked her to send the driver back, but he never came back to pick up the pizzas. She didn't seem apologetic at all about the experience I had, and made it seem like I am in the wrong for notifying them that they are leaving hair in the pizza. With so many pizza options near not sure if I would be ordering again after all this time. She clearly doesn't appreciate doing business with me. Sorry Lady, I'm not trying to eat anyones hair. And along with other reviews the pizza toppings are over priced, and it doesn't make sense when you order half pizza toppings but still paying full pizza topping price. If the business owner cares about his brand, and his customers. I suggest he places a manager in the location that is better with customer service, and Food safety protocol. read more

A take-out pizza fills the bill nicely, but too often the pizza is too big to finish. Yes; you are on the company dime, but you hate to throw out two thirds of a pizza. Even with a refrigerator in the room, you might not appreciate cold pizza, which I don't care for. Why all this talk of pizza size? Doreen's offers a small pizza with four slices, just enough for a meal. I have only had their pizza once but would go back again. The sausage pizza had spicy sausage underneath the cheese and made for a good meal back in the hotel room. Doreen's has a more extensive menu that I would want to try in the future. I've been looking for a really good pizza place, I've found it at Doreen's in Dryer IN, been here a few time now and consistency is key for me, the thin crust pizza is the BEST, I got the Doreen supreme and the stuff pizza, what I really like is it reheat in the oven very well, it tast like I just picked it up, I've had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2-3 in the morning, needless to say I'm hooked, can't wait to try their other offerings. The service was also great, the young man who took my order was new and nervous, he offered me coupons and took a % off my order and entered me to hopefully win free pizza for a month, that's great customer service. read more

Had it for the first time yesterday! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Will definitely be ordering it again. My only complaint would be with a lady at the counter. I asked her for the daily special (which was a free 2 liter of pop). (My wife wanted it, I don't care much for pop). I asked for it and she said that I had to order it when i called in my order. I was sad, so I asked another waitress and she fixed the confusion and let me have the pop. Not a big deal, just remember to mention any specials when you order. Love it! Will be back! read more

Doreen's pizza is pretty tasty, the inside of the eatery is very small so no large groups! They have seating outside in the summer which is nice. On the inside they do have a tv and an obnoxious mural. They have a pretty standard menu and the pizza is pretty tasty. read more

Very bad experience with an unprofessional manager. Message to the owner: if you care about your business, please address how your general manager treats your loyal customers. I grew up in Hegewisch and later moved to Dyer. I would tell people how nice it was to be able to order from my childhood pizza place. On Saturday, November 27, I ordered pizza for my family gathering, my brother found a long strand of hair melted in the cheese of 3 slices. We called and spoke to the general manager who was not apologetic. She said we needed to return the pizza for a refund and we were willing to do that if they sent someone. I asked to speak to the owner and she then gave the phone to an employee she must have asked to pose. And he said good news and bad news, good news I will get refund and bad news is I was never allowed to order from there again.. I found out he was an employee and asked him to leave message for the owner. It's been over 10 days, no call from owner for apology and still NO REFUND provided as I was promised.. so after 30 years of Doreen's being first choice for my family, will never order from either location again.
