Rico's Pizza - Medium sausage - Pizza Near Me - Lansing, Illinois

I'm torn between a three or a four star rating. I placed a to-go order on a Friday night around 6 and was told it would be an hour and 15 minute wait. No problem. It's about 15-20 minutes from my house. I showed up about 50 minutes after I ordered. The lot next to the business was pretty full but I found a spot. The lobby is very tiny, but there are a few chairs for people waiting. When I got there it was a line out the door but it moved very quickly. When I got my pizza I could tell that it was probably sitting for a bit because the bottom of the pizza was moist with condensation. By the time I got home the pizza was barely warm. Next time I will be there earlier to get the pie fresh out of the oven. Even though the pizza was definitely not hot it was pretty good. The crust was thicker than I expected. Everyone kept talking about the thin, cracker-like crust, but the crust was actually kind of thick. I appreciate that they have a non-pork meat option (beef). I wish they would offer turkey sausage. More people are giving up pork and it would definitely give them an edge. Anyway, was it the best pizza I've had in Notthwest Indiana/Southeast Chicago suburbs? Absolutely not, but it was solid. I have to give them another chance and eat it while it's hot and fresh. read more

I wasn't sure what to eat and then I encountered this place. It felt right to me. My significant other and I walked inside and unfortunately table service wasn't offered. I picked up a free menu and saw what they had. We decided to do a Carry Out order and then went to the counter to order. From the Local Favorites section, we got a Small 12" Pepperoni Lovers for $13.45. It stated Start with our homemade thin crust pizza covered with our signature sauce topped with a layer of pepperoni, then cheese and topped with more pepperoni. From the Salads section, we got a rico's House Salad for $6.25. It was Crisp lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, green peppers, ham and American cheese. In the same section, it stated All salads include your choice of dressing: House made Italian, French, 1,000 Island, Honey Mustard, Ranch. We chose Ranch. The ORDER, COLLECT & SAVE section stated With each pizza, carry out or delivery, you will receive a Rico's Exclusive Coupon. The Hot Sandwiches section stated Served on a toasted french roll. I went with a Triple Cheese for $4.50. It was Provolone, Swiss and American cheeses on dark rye bread served hot. My significant other got a Triple Cheese as well. I sat down while I waited. Our order was ready fairly fast. I was excited to try everything. All we had to do was get back to our place. The Pepperoni Lovers was beautiful. I had to admire it before I tried it. It was very tasty. The rico's House Salad was okay. It wasn't worth getting, though. We got a Rico's Exclusive Coupon with our pizza, so that was cool. The Triple Cheese was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it. I ended up eating some of my significant other's Triple Cheese and I enjoyed it as well. The service was alright. I didn't have any issues. Overall, I'm glad I tried this place. I had a solid experience. I would probably go again in the future. Date of visit: 06/01/25 read more

Rico's makes a delicious pizza. It's my go to. Reminds me of the Chicago pizza I had growing up in to 80s.

Thin crust tavern style pizza heaven! Easily one of the top 5 anywhere including Chicago! You walk into Rico's and the incredible smell of classic pizza hits you immediately! The crust, the sauce, the generous toppings all cooked so perfectly! I drove over one hour to try this pizza and it was well worth the trip! There is a reason this place has been dishing out great pizza for almost 50 years! Rico's has it dialed in to perfection! Go get you soma dat! read more

Great thin crust pizza! Best in the region! The sausage pizza is our favorite. The employees are always friendly

Best thin crust in the southland and top 3 in all of Chicagoland in my opinion! If you like a crispy thin crust that is cooked well done, this is the place for you! If you like soupy uncooked cheese slop this would not be for you unfortunately. I personally love a pizza cooked well done so this is one of my favorites! They have been open since the 70s I think that says enough in itself! read more

DELICIOUSNESS!!! I was lead to try this place from a "Chicago's best pizza group on facebook". I am so happy to report that the pizza was just as good as everyone says it is. I ordered a family size sausage/ pepperoni and a small salad. The salad was average, but the pizza was FIRE! My family really enjoyed it, adding this spot to the rotation! read more

Great pizza and they're always consistent in serving the food. Way better than beggars pizza.

Great Great Pizza!!! I enjoyed eating this pizza ingredients were on the money. I've been in this area for 10 years alway had to go to the city for good pizza will definitely be a regular here from now on. Thank you!!!!! read more

Family member went to pick up pizza and was told there was no order. On the phone was told 30 minutes. After contacting them. I was told I was on hold when the order was taken, which I was not at all. Upon talking to someone on the phone I was told I was taking to her like a piece of sh** and was given someone else. That if xourse made me angry. Stop making excuses, for not taking the order. I was even hung up on,accident or not twice and of course they wouldn't own up to that. Mistakes happen, maybe be more apologetic when the order got messed up. I have been getting pizzas from here since they originally opened in the basement of the old party liquor store, never again and this was by far my favorite pizza read more

Four star the order was correct and ready as promised the pizza was very good It wasn't a long hold when I ordered by phone and the employee was prompt and pleasant read more

First time here. Came from crown point because I just can't find a truly thin crust pizza. This is my go to from now on. Positively perfect!!! read more

Simply the best thin crust in all of Chicagoland and beyond. Try a sausage and pepperoni, you'll never be able to eat any other thin crust pizza without comparing it to Rico's. Barraco's perhaps is a close second, but Rico's wins on the perfect balance of all ingredients. I feel sad for anyone that hasn't had the pleasure of trying Rico's. Do it before it's too late and COVID-19 takes you away! read more

Absolutely blown away by this pizza. Crispy and thin even in the middle. Great fennel flavor in the sausage. Such a long drive for us 60 minutes but worth it. Don't miss this gem if you love Chicago Thin Crust. read more

Coming from someone who was born and raised on the south east side of Chicago and Italian fiesta it's not as if they're trying to be Italian fiesta, but they have their own flavor and it's very good and if you like thin crust, I think this is the place to go to also fantastic service, friendly, and efficient I give this place 4 1/2 stars out of five.**** read more

I usually do not leave reviews, but I had to. I am originally from the north side of Chicago and love the thin crust pizza. I am so happy to find this place. It looks like a dive but it is the best thin crust that I have tasted in the area since I moved into the area 3 years ago. Pepperoni, sausage and jalapeño is our family favorite and it is the best thin crust in the area. To the owner- Glory be to God - Jesus for allowing me to find this place and I hope the Lord blesses and protects your business in the name of Jesus Christ I pray :-). read more

Ordered the mighty meaty pizza!Sauce was good as well as all the meats that were piled on!

My wife and i love this place great pizza n sandwiches prices are fair and the staff is always friendly Ricos always looks very clean

This is my 1st time trying the business. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs and a salad. When I returned 20 minutes later, they had no meatballs. How about some type of meat from the pizza at least. So I get home and the spaghetti has no italian flavoring at all. Just bland plain spaghetti. I know, wht would you buy spaghetti from a pizza place. Why add it to the menu when you coukd only sale pizza. Im learning the hard way about eating in out si much. read more

Rico's Pizza - Pizza Near Me - Lansing, Illinois

I was told this pizza was awesome by a couple of people and decided to give Rico's pizza of Lansing, a try. While the pizza is a hearty and robust with plentiful ingredients, I did not care for the flavor. I guess it's an acquired taste but to me the pizza had a strong, sharp taste to the sauce I personally felt was overpowering. They added Worcester or Maggi flavoring, or something similar, which masked the natural tomato base of the sauce. If you like that flavoring or spice on your pizza fine but as for me, it tasted odd. The pizza slices were cut way too small as well, like 2 inches by 2 inches. Not bad but I've had better. read more

Fantastic. Was out of town and found this place randomly. Highly recommend if you enjoy thin crust pizza. I would also suggest 'spicy pizza sauce.' read more

Classic thin crust. The best pizza you'll find in the area if you like thin crust. Service is great too.

If you like thin crust theirs is good & slightly crispy - just right! Would order again.

Want to support local businesses‍--esp. during this time. Tried the spaghetti. The girl that took my order asked if I wanted it baked and with either red or marinara sauce (peppers and onions). I don't like onions so I got the pizza sauce. SO GOOD! U get a generous portion for a VERY reasonable $--including a sandwich-size serving of garlic bread and a bit of cheese to sprinkle over the top. Lots of gooey mozzarella on top too; but I forgot and cut it up before taking the pic. Will definitely be trying other menu items. THANK YOU! read more

Best thin crust in the Region!! Love Rico's! Been our go to for years!! Prices very reasonable as well!

Yup, still the best in the area. They know their pizza. There is Rosati's in Munster. We go there if we need a pizza fix earlier in the day. However Ricos makes pizza the best in the area. The ingredients are quality. Also Ricos get's their crust crisp...even in the middle of the pizza. The whole pizza is crisp! Rosati's can't achieve this. I noticed that they accept credit cards too. I did not notice that before. Best pizza in the South Suburbs. read more

It was good but not the best I've tasted . I think they are skimping on fresh ingredients. Like most restaurants now a foodie nightmare

Ordered here Friday even at 415. The pizza didn't get delivered until 530 and was BURNT. Not only that but I ordered what was listed on the menu, a Pepperoni Lovers Pizza, and the woman taking my order spent a minute arguing with me that she'd never even heard of it. I don't think I'll be trying this place again. That's too much for one night. There are too many restaurants doing a good job for me to argue over a menu AND get a burnt pizza. read more

The pizza is ok. Dread the service. As a native Southsider this pizza comes close (texturally) to what I had growing up from the local, neighborhood joints... but consistency is missing and i swear a "hello" or "thanks for coming in" seems like a real stretch. read more

Great pizza place. It's one of are pizza dinner places are order from. They make the pizza crust hard.

Rico's is and has been one of the best pizza places in the area. The thin pizza is always packed with cheese, I love their sauce and, if you like crispy crust, this is a pizza you're going to love. I actually like soggy crust but I could appreciate this one and it gives me a chance to change it up. You can't go wrong no matter what toppings you choose (although I love just cheese!). read more

The pizza was not bad. Nothing special, better than your average chain pizza place. The problem is customer service, spent the first 10 mins on "hold"not really hold they just set the phone down and I could here the conversations in background. I definitely would not give them your card info over the phone, I could clearly hear the person on the other line giving there card info over the phone. Then over 2hrs later my pizza arrived, was only supposed to be about 1hr, so I called and was put on "hold" again. I won't be ordering delivery from here again. Doubtful if I go in person unless this is a last resort. read more
