Had a wonderful evening and meal at Malone's! We made a reservation, arrived a bit early, and the staff was more than happy to accommodate us without any hesitation. From the moment we walked in, every staff member was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. My friends and I had never been to Malone's before, and our waitress gave us an excellent recommendation to try the dry-aged steak, wow, it was absolutely delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the Malone's Salad, Dijon Shrimp, and Loaded Chips. For dinner, we shared the ribeye with crème brûlée corn, mashed potatoes, and hot honey Brussels sprouts. I would happily order every single dish again and am already looking forward to my next visit. Each dish was rich in flavor, well prepared, and beautifully plated. The steak was cooked exactly as requested, and they even offered to slice it for us. The service throughout the evening was exceptional; our waitress was knowledgeable, attentive, and never rushed us. The drinks were just as impressive as the food. We enjoyed both cocktails and wine, all of which were refreshing, well-crafted, and thoughtfully presented. There are many steakhouses in Bay Ridge, but Malone's deserves to be a top contender. My friend & I were very disappointed. I've dined here before & liked the menu, the service & the waitstaff. This time was a complete dichotomy. It was akin to probably dining at a diner in Mississippi. The steak tough & overdone; I ordered it medium rare; it was more like medium well done. The appetizers looked and tasted as if they were rushed & thrown onto plates. As an aside...a few grammatical errors in their online menu ..one I remember..."all steaks and chops are pine cuts." We ordered a porter house since the mister wanted ribeye and I wanted mignon. The temp we requested- medium rare, it came out more on the rare side. I think if they let the steak rested for some time before cutting into it, it would have been great. For sides- we got a baked potato and creamed spinach; nothing too spectacular about it. Very clean and beautiful spot. Went here for a birthday dinner on a quiet Tuesday night. The food was 8/10. We ordered a wedge salad (could've been fresher, the lettuce had some reddish/purple hews), the short rib sliders were okay, too sweet for my liking. The crab cakes were soft and good, a little sharp relish-like taste but it didn't bother me much. The hot honey brussels were delicious and the porterhouse steak was cooked so well! Could've been seasoned a little more BUT so tender and juicy, definitely my favorite. I wish this steakhouse had a mac and cheese side dish option but that's okay. Let me start off by saying that the food was pretty good-not great service was average to say the least and honest didn't care for the decor. No real ambiance, BUT having a DJ in a steak house doesn't add up. Plus the music was painfully loud you couldn't hear your own thoughts let alone anyone else. We celebrated my sister's birthday here. The staff was amazing enough to accept a flower delivery the day before, set up the table with decorations that we provided, and set out the small favors. The night of the event was great. We arrived and the table was set up and ready to go for 12 people. The staff was professional and friendly. We started off with drinks from the bar. Then we ordered a bunch of appetizers which included: shrimp cocktail, fried calamari, short rib egg rolls, and baked clams. Everything was amazing. All fresh and very flavorful. My favorite was the baked clams. We all ordered different dishes. I had the filet mignon with hot honey brussel spouts and fries. The steak was cooked to my liking, but I found the filet to be a little on the fatty side. I guess I just got a bad cut. I didn't have to salt to pepper it which was good. They kept coming over to clear plates and decrumb the table. Everyone said their dish was amazing and cooked perfectly. We all had coffee and cake that we brought. I ordered the shrimp scampi and calamari, and both were excellent. The shrimp scampi was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and not overly oily, with a nice balance of garlic and seasoning. I thought this place would be great to take my girlfriend out, but i was slapped in the face with bad service, and even worse sympathy by the waiter who was clearly overworked- and the sheer stupidity/ unprofessionalism. For starters, we had an 8:15 reservation and we got sat closer to 9. After we ate some fishy baked clams (six for like 15 dollars ), it took us until around 10:45 to actually get our entrees. In addition, we were still working on our Caesar salad, and a bus boy took the plate away without even asking if we were finished! it's completely unacceptable. This is a cozy restaurant near the Verrazano bridge in Bay Ridge. The decor was unique. The seating was comfy. The service was above and beyond what I'd hoped for. And the food! Everything we tried was delicious. We started with the cheese plate and loaded cottage fries. My husband and daughter had filet Mignon and I went with the NY strip with asparagus friti and the au gratin sides. The cocktails were delicious and they made my Daughter a delicious mock mojito. We went NY Eve night at 8:00 pm and it was not busy. The service was very bad. The manager in the sneakers, kept asking the table next to us how they were but never even looked at us and our empty table. We had to keep asking for water. I wanted to love this place, mainly because I loved Embers, but unfortunately it just didn't live up to its predecessor. We've been here twice and both times we had not so favorable experiences. The first time we were there to try it out and have the experience. The service was not great. The server was so hard to find anytime we needed him. We were constantly looking around trying to find him and when we did to ask him for what we needed, it was another 5-10 before he was back. My dates food was good, not great. My lobster tail was not good at all. It was completely dried out and you can tell that it had been sitting out too long under a heat lamp. The second time we went was Easter. Surprisingly enough it was fairly empty when we went because we went early. We were sat at a table and got prompt attention and our server was great. So far so good. A large table was being set up near us for a party coming in. A gentleman came over who I'm not sure if it was the manager or the owner, said hello, asked us how everything was. We said good and that was that. Then the party started coming in. You could clearly tell that this party was either family or friends with the manager/owner. They were all joking around basically everyone was jumping to make sure that everyone at the table was accommodated. Which is totally fine, I would do the same for my family/friends if I was in that position. Now mind you, we were right next to this table and the same server who was handling our table was handling this table. We were halfway through our meal, and about to get another drink when the manager/owner turns to us smiling and says "how's everything guys?" "I said oh absolutely delicious!" I'm about to order another drink and he proceeds to tell our server to wrap up our food. And then walks back over to his table of friends/family. Umm....what? At what point a) did I say I was done with my food and b) ask you to have it wrapped up? We were so taken aback that I didn't even know what to say. When the server came back with our food we immediately asked for the check and left. How dare you rush us out like that! Been here numerous times and our meals have always been excellent! Last night decided to change it up and ordered chicken parm over rigatoni with vodka sauce and it was delicious! My husband ordered the dry aged strip steak and it was the best one we've had to date! The quality of meat ordered by this restaurant beats any other local steakhouse by a mile! I am not form Brooklyn and visited this place with my friend on a vacation a couple of months ago. I must say the ambiance is nice however when I asked for medium rare it came out rare and quite bloody. Maybe it is the Brooklyn way but it sure did look too uncooked. The waiters were also not too interested and it took a while for my undercooked steak to arrive. I will give them the benefit of the doubt as this may be just a one time thing. The initial impression from outside seems high end but it looks so empty even on a Friday night. Brought my boyfriend here for steak, hence the steakhouse, but steak is really dry. The salad is soggy too. The staff were just sitting around the whole time and zero interactions. I'm also pretty sure I saw a roach in the bathroom. The music is also pretty damn loud for no reason. I have eaten and dined at several dozen steakhouses in NY, Florida, and across the US. This had to be the worst experience I ever had. I had a party of 8 entertaining high net worth clients. The window was open by our table and the stench of sewer from the basement trap door on the sidewalk outside the window was horrible. The service was very poor, they did not know the menu well, how food was prepped when asked, and steaks were undercooked across the board. Food had to be sent back several times to get the steaks to the correct temperature and grade. They have no business charging the prices they do. Went to Malone's to have steak. I chose the NY Strip Bone In, which apparently they did not have, but the waiter immediately offered the higher priced Bone In Ribeye. I ordered the NY Strip, Rear, my date ordered a Filet Mignon, Well Done. The waiter immediately stated it should be butterflied, so it does not come out burnt. We also ordered String Beans and Hash Browns. It took over 30 minutes to get the food. First thing I noticed the Hash Browns appeared to look like a large flat hamburger, I proceeded to try a piece and they were spongy and soaked in grease. My date cut into her Filet and it was shockingly burnt. The String beans were mushy. We looked around for the waiter, and we couldn't get his attention for over ten minutes. When he finally came over, we proceeded to tell him about the Hash Browns and he seemed uninterested and not willing to take them, he did not offer anything to replace them. We proceeded to finish our meals. Then the search for the waiter began, another ten minutes went by. At least the waiter had enough common sense to take the Hash Browns off of the bill. We were extremely disappointed in the total experience. I have enjoyed more reasonable chain Steak Houses. The service here is so good! Is this Keen's in Manhattan? No, but it doesn't pretend to be either. It's a leveled-up neighborhood chop house that delivers consistently. The service and the quality of food at Malone's is honestly wonderful. Wines by the glass selection?Excellent! Steaks and appetizers ? Fabulous! In fact, I love to sit at the bar and order a bunch of apps to share, because the portions are so big. Klevis is of my favorite bartenders in the neighborhood, and he knows how to make a solid cocktail even if you want something off-menu. Ayala, the manager and maitre d', is such a gem! She is so warm and welcoming, and it's clear how much she loves her job and how much she contributes to the restaurant overall. Went to Malone's on Saturday night. I was looking forward to it but also a little worried about some of the reviews. Also saw Embers go to absolute hell towards the end. Was not disappointed - great all around. For apps we ordered: fried calamari, whipped ricotta, grilled octopus, and 1 slice of bacon. Everything was excellent. I have been to most of the top steakhouses in NYC and this is the biggest piece of bacon I have ever seen, twice the size of most places. Great taste as well. Porterhouse was flavorful. If I had to give one suggestion for the owner to take note or to elevate to legendary -- bring it out sizzling style like the old Ben and Jacks and some other places do it. Not a huge deal to do and I guarantee it would draw rave reviews. Sides of corn crème brûlée and onion strings were very good. I'd suggest adding a potato au gratin (the Embers potato is not that and is more of a pub thing imo). Great ambiance in the back room - nothing beats Rat Pack / Sinatra playing at just the right volume. Very good service as well. Overall a definite 5 star. We came here for Thanksgiving dinner. The decor and ambiance was great. It had a classic New York steakhouse vibe but it was so decorated. I really loved it. There was something interesting to look at everywhere you turned! We shared the 40 oz. Porterhouse, which was ABSOLUTELY delicious! My only slight criticism is that they didn't include the drippings from the steak or any kind of sauce, which I'm used to it being served with. The fries and fried calamari were incredible but the Creamed Corn Brulee was the best thing I've ever tasted and is something you MUST TRY! It was so unique and memorable. Our dessert was also fantastic. It was the freshest slice of Pecan Pie that I've ever had and wish I wasn't so full from the rest of dinner to enjoy it.
