First thing that comes to mind: This place is overpriced for nothing. The pictures will deceive you, its too dark om real life. We ordered the chicken and waffles on a Saturday afternoon after not having much of a selection on the menu. The food was bland and I had to ask for condiments to try and flavor it up. Also note, this use to be a different restaurant back in the day and it was popping...but now, the energy seems to have left , along with the seasoning. We wont be back. read more

Me and my fiancé went for Valentine's Day. There were tons of people in there and the waiting staff was on top of their game. Our server Reef was wonderful. He checked up on us frequently despite the large crowd and he followed through on a couple items we were missing on our order. He was incredibly thorough and respectful and is one of the better servers I've had in recent memory. The food was also amazing and they do such a nice job decorating for all holidays, and Vday was no different. 10/10 food, 10/10 vibe, 12/10 Reef read more

Make a reservation! Such an amazing atmosphere, people, and food. Went for brunch and got the bottomless mims- $16 then 25 cents per refill. Definitely worth it. The Bloody Mary was amazing as well-comes with a deviled egg--YUM. Original and crab cake bennies were so good- everything is so fresh but I was mostly impressed by the home fries. I usually don't like potatoes this style because they tend to be too soft, but these were super crispy, bursting with flavor and not too potato-y like most other places. The potato skins were the best part. Our waitress was super nice and attentive, despite how busy it was. Definitely recommend and will be going back to try their dinner menu read more

Sadly, Makers Union really missed the mark. Every time I have walked by the restaurant it has seemed fairly busy. So, when I decided to try it, I was expecting good food and great service. This was not the case. First, I'll start with the pros. My group was seated quickly, and the staff was kind. Now for the cons. After ordering the food took about 40 minutes to come out even though the restaurant was not very busy. I ordered the "Maryland Crab Cake Benedict" which was advertised as "jumbo lump crabcake, poached eggs, buttermilk biscuit, hollandaise, breakfast potatoes". This was not what came out. What I received was eggs benedict with some crab cake (a bite-sized amount) in between my egg and the biscuit. My table also ordered the "Money Bread" which was large but underwhelming in taste. The most shocking thing was when we ordered bread for the table. It came out after all the food and was a single slice. It took them over 40 minutes to bring out a single slice of bread. I think to anyone that would be ridiculous. Overall, the experience was not impressive and honestly disappointing. Even though the people were friendly I cannot see myself going back anytime soon. read more

Dinner out with some friends. The interior was very clean, customers were definitely socially distanced. The staff wore masks and gloves. The menu is really nice - some really great options to choose from. Okay draft beer menu. The food presentation was excellent- roasted Brussels sprouts was incredible! I had the steak frites... presentation again was fabulous. Unfortunately the steak was a bit tough. Cooked to perfection ( pink center) but too chewy. Disappointed. The fries were incredible... how do you mess up fries right? True but they really were exceptional. The service was perfect- attentive and knowledgeable. Hopefully I just got a bad cut?? But probably won't order that again. Somewhat pricey. read more

My friend and I hadn't been out for drinks in a while and decided to try Makers Union since it's a new addition to rtc. Honestly we were really excited to try this place out, but from the second we came in the service was terrible. From the hostess to the service staff, we were barely greeted and the menus were practically thrown at us lol. So this really changed the mood of our evening and instead of dining here and having a meal, we had a drink and 1 appetizer and left. It was basically empty, with 2 tables dining- so it makes sense why. The Nashville hot chicken tenders were delicious- Thats probably the only good thing that came out of our experience at Makers Union. read more

Came for date night and had a nice time! Our waiter was amazing and attentive. The ambiance is cool and cozy. Their mac and cheese is really good, it's worth adding the lobster or crab! I ordered the smoked salmon and it was good! The only reason why I give it a 4 is because the food didn't wow me, it was good. Might need to check it out another time and try something else. read more

We recently moved here and stumbled upon MUP4TP and fell in love instantly. So much so that we did their Thanksgiving and Christmas home meals and they saved me so much time but still the home style taste and comfort. Not to mention that their rewards system is decent. You can earn points quickly. read more

Lindsay was great!! Great service and food was delicious, will def be back. Got seated right away

I was taking two of my girlfriends out for their birthday and they suggested this place in Reston. At the time I did not know that American Tap Room had closed and this was the new restaurant. Once I arrived I figured that out. We initially sat outside but it started raining so then we were moved inside. The service was great, food was very delicious, great menu options & atmosphere. Someone was performing that evening so we had some live entertainment. My friends really enjoy their birthday dinner and all the fun we had. We would definitely return. read more

Really nice modern stone bar or granite or something I have no idea... But it was really nice looking and the appetizers were solid. I believe I had a mac & cheese and another item that escapes me... I was there after having to go into my corporate offices, and came in their solo, but the bartender was very responsive, and I have no complaint about service, etc... upscale, setting without being too snooty... I saw people in jeans, and then I saw people in suits, and nobody seems out of place. read more

Upscale pub food with consistently excellent quality and absolutely delicious! The quality of their delivery is excellent too!

Makers Union is a great eatery in Reston Town Center with delicious food and options for everyone. The atmosphere is casual, and prices are average for the area. The food is consistently delicious, and I am a huge fan of the fact that they have a creative option for vegetarians: the Impossible Kebabs! Usually plant-based eaters like myself are stuck with a pasta or impossible burger, but this dish is a fantastic change up and really is a meal with lots of tasty parts: you have the delicious kebabs themselves, tasty roasted sweet potatoes, savory mushrooms and broccolini, tangy pickled onions, fluffy and flavorful rice, and some avocado for good measure-there's a lot of goodness going on here! The Brussels Sprouts are also some of the best I've had, and the Mac & Cheese is creamy and has a slight zing to it because of the peppers. I wish this place was a chain restaurant because I would go get those kebabs often. Thanks, Makers Union, for delicious and creative vegetarian options! read more

Came tonight, had a great experience! My fiancė and I sat at the bar area. We shared Brussel sprouts, fries, and Nashville Hot chicken. Food came out at a good time and the bartenders were attentive to us, even though they had a few other tables! I ordered a Negroni (delicious) and she got a drink in a Tiki glass! Looking forward to going back! read more

I came in with a large work group right when they opened. The staff were very accommodating for our large group and made sure to take care of every single one of us. Food was brought out quickly and of high quality. We had a couple different appetizers (not pictured) and a few drinks all were delicious. I also saw that they have live music on certain nights. This is definitely a restaurant to try again read more

First visit. Interestingly we had to switch our reservation time from 5 to 6. I was told 6:00 pm wasn't available but we could do 5:45 or 6:15. Imagine our surprise walking in to a restaurant that only had TWO parties seated. It seemed very odd that they told us "nothing available" at 6:00 yet the place was empty when we arrived! Go figure Our party of 4 ordered 2 beers, water and soda. No appetizers ordered. $27 for a French dip sandwich is very steep but 2 tried it. Both said they were "fine but not worth $27." One had to ask for more horseradish. Fish and chips were pretty good but the beer batter used was a bit sharp tasting. The fries/chips were good. Only other thing noted was that the kitchen was very heavy-handed sprinkling way too much parsley on the fish and chips. The price point on this item made this "not worth the price" like the other two dishes. $23 for a small serving of fried fish is crazy. Last was the chicken Alfredo pasta. The gentleman who ordered it ate every last bit and enjoyed it. Funny thing is, it was the cheapest thing ordered! No need to return. read more

Mediocre and overpriced food for businesses in the area. The Mac and Cheese and Brussels sprouts were the best dishes our large party had -- the French dip was notably chewy and the au jus lacked flavor. read more

this is a good spot. was here for business lunch. service was excellent and prices were fair. my guest got classic bar food burger and fries. I got a kale salad that was nicely done with plenty of fresh vegetables and nice dressing. Nothing wrong here just average. 5/10. (no impact on the restaurant BUT as a vistor on business travel - the parking and toll situation in VA is horrific and unwelcoming. The parking costs and pitiful revenue generation in tickets etc is disgusting here at the Reston Towne Center) read more

Food is good not great, overpriced for what it is. Service was fine. Better places to go in RTC.

Yes. The food and cocktails were good. Unfortunately the service was horrible. Very slow. Our waiter would stop by then disappear for 5-15 minutes before we saw him again. read more

Came here for a brunch date. The location is great - right in Reston Town Center so plenty of garage parking. The bottomless brunch is quite different and interesting, we enjoyed the experience. Basically we can pick 3 dishes for appetizer and 3 for entrees for the whole table to share, then get bottomless refills for these 6 choices. Their drink menu has fun cocktails too. The vibe is great - not too crowded when I went on a Sat afternoon (which was a bit to my surprise), spacious, and not too loud. read more

I'm not even sure where to start except OMG! We came into Reston looking to have brunch at another restaurant close by. Lucky for us, they were on a 30-40 min wait. So we searched Yelp looked up and saw Makers Union. It's as if the skies parted and choirs of Angels began singing. We walked right up, were seated immediately and perused the breakfast and brunch menu. We had to start with the Monkey Bread for the table. And OMG, it was outstanding. Doughy, gooey, yummy and flat out delicious. Instead of opting for the bottomless brunch where you can pick multiple items from the menu, I chose the Makers Union Breakfast. This is 3 eggs potatoes a biscuit and a 1.5 lb ham steak. Yes, you read correctly, a freaking 1.5 lb slab of delicious country bone in ham. It did not disappoint. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend them! read more

After saying let's get dinner in Reston Town Center without knowing where to go, I quickly consulted Yelp, doing my usual filter by best reviewed, Maker's came up first. My wife and I had a peek at the photos and reviews and said "let's go for it." We did and were pleasantly surprised. I've been out of the loop on reading restaurant reviews, so I hadn't yet heard of this newish gem of a spot. Dining outside under a warm Sunday October breeze, we tried the appetizer brussels, which were tangy and crunchy, a step above the usual version of this we get elsewhere. For the mains, I splurged a bit and got the lamb chops with harissa, which were perfectly cooked, juicy and leaving me satisfied, but wanting more because they tasted so good. My wife ordered the salmon, which I tried. I was caught off-guard, in a good way, since it had a wonderful smoky texture to the flavor. So nice not to have the ordinary, uninspired salmon that so many restaurants dish out these days. For dessert, we shared a huge portion of bread pudding, which is a favorite of ours, trying it everywhere we go. This one was hearty and flavorful, accompanied by a creamy, delectable sauce on top. We will definitely be back to try other items on the chef-inspired menu. read more

We decided to do an overnight stay in Reston and try some new places. We had dinner at Markers Union and it did NOT disappoint. Server was fantastic unfortunately I cannot remember her name. My husband and I shared an appetizer and meal. We started out with the Mac n cheese OMG, it was the best I've had in a very long time. We wanted to add lobster but market price was a little high (thank you pandemic) but 1000% recommend, we also split a Nashville Hot fried chicken sandwich, again very good flavor, they even cut it in half and gave both of us fries. If you like mules, got to try the Blood Orange Mule delish! read more

Great service and wonderful cocktails. Only tried a couple of food items so not enough to comment.

1st time trying this place. Service was very good. Friendly staff. Got makers burger and it was as average. For a $20 burger expected a lot better. Ordered medium and it was closer to well done. Wife got avacado toast that looked light on avacado. read more

Makers Union - Makers burger and avocado toast. - Pubs Near Me - Reston, Virginia

I had a great experience during brunch at this restaurant! The food was amazing, service was great, and we had an awesome waitress that made our time there even better. I got the family style bottomless brunch (unfortunately, this does not include bottomless drinks) which lets you choose three appetizers and three entrees that are unlimited. So yes, if you want multiple servings of the Maker's Union Breakfast, you can get that for $32. Of course they aren't giving you the regular serving size of the meal, but the the portion sizes are pretty huge if you ask me. Literally everything I tried was amazing, but my favorite has to be the Hickory Smoked Fried Salmon Hash, which is a piece of fried salmon on top of large chunks of breakfast potatoes with cooked spinach and onions in the mix covered with a creamy sauce. This restaurant is literally an hour away from me, but I will definitely come back just to have that meal again. read more

The food and service was absolutely amazing. We ordered oysters, Brussel sprouts, crab Mac & cheese, ribeye steak with baked potato, cheesecake, and a couple different cocktails. We came from another nearby establishment because the food looked amazing online and TRUST ME it did not disappoint! The hostess was awesome from time we first stepped in. Then Shannon was absolutely amazing when suggesting popular dishes, her favorites, and just checking on us periodically to see how we were doing. We would give 6 stars if we could. We will definitely be coming back soon!! read more

Food was okay, but I don't know if I will be going back. We were seated outside and near 2 other tables. The table we got was dirty and we had to ask for someone to wipe the table. The host came and wiped the table as she handed us 1 menu to share between 3 people. We were pretty hungry and also had bookings for a show after dinner so we were ready to order in less than 5 minute. After 15 minutes of sitting there waiting a couple and their dog were seated near us, they received their menu and waitress came to take their order all in 2 minutes. The waitress then turned to a different table and asked them if they needed anything and quickly rushed off without even looking at our table or our direction. After we waited 20 minutes my sister had to go inside to ask the host for service and let her know we were waiting to order for 20 minutes. After my sister came back to the table, the waitress showed up 5 minutes later and didn't greet us or even smile. Mater of fact she had an attitude the entire time. As she took our orders she was cutting us off each time and was short with us. We brushed that off and waited for our orders. The appetizers came and we asked for 2 different hot sauces which we never got. The main entrees took too long to arrive and one of the Steaks that was supposed to be medium well arrived as medium and not hot. It might have been cooked and was sitting in the kitchen for a while before bringing it out. It doesn't feel good to be ignored while everyone else in the restaurant is being attended to. We still tipped because we know how tough it is to work in the food service industry, but we're not going back to somewhere we don't feel welcomed or wanted. read more

A decent choice for American fare dining at the Reston Town Center. I would like to give Makers Union a 5 star rating but after each of my visits (about 5 so far), I leave feeling like, "ok, that was decent. Just not great." While seated at a table for lunch or dinner, the service has been very good. The food selection is fine overall. Nothing that I truly remember and can't wait to eat again. Our bar service has also been fine. The beer selection is varied but as I recall there may only be one IPA option. read more
