focaccia prosciutto eggplant and black truffle sandwich
Hadleigh P.

Their free coffee with a pastry is a nice deal. I tried the focaccia prosciutto eggplant and black truffle sandwich but it was too oily/ greasy. I do want to try one of their ube cornetto's but they do sell out. They also have some artisan goods for sale and have like two separate halves/ shops with separate entrances and cashiers

We read about this bakery and decided to go have a visit. We went on a Saturday, and traffic on Gough was horrendous. Turned out they closed a stretch of Hayes from Gough to Octavia to make a " Hayes promenade". The dim sum was set up at the entrance. The bakery looks inviting, a few items already out of stock, mostly the vroiSo I chose pandan and ube crinkles, a pink champagne macaron and a ube half loaf of bread. And 2 cupcakes. The red velvet and the chocolate cupcakes were dry. The crinkles, I never had crinkles before so I don't know what to expect, but they were a drycake like texture. Didn't try the macaron yet. Shall we say I was not impressed. The store offers a variety of merchandise. Candles and lots of other items. Since I was the only person in the store, service was good.

Where the ube cream ended up due to being smashed in the bag

Crinkle cookie was very bready. Giant macaron had good texture and decent flavor, but I wouldn't crave getting it again.

Having heard nothing but rave reviews for AB, I finally tried it for myself and now understand why…read morethere's always line. Due to scheduling, I wasn't able to arrive until an hour before closing on a Friday which meant many of the items were sold out. When I arrived, there was a line so I had my buddy drop me off while he found parking. In retrospect, I should have had him drive around the block a few times as the line moved fast and there wasn't much to choose from. Since we both didn't know how quick the transaction would be, he figured out the metered parking, which was a feat in and of itself, and when he was walking over to the bakery, I was done with pastries in hand. Only one customer is allowed in the narrow shop at a time while the other customers queue up waiting to be signaled to step forward. As for seating, there is none so no one hangs around. Of the croissants remaining, I ordered all of them: Chocolate Almond Croissant - full of almond paste and chocolate, you could share this one, but why? This was my favorite. Almond Croissant - very good Kouign-amann - good sized While you can't enjoy the warm croissants with coffee at the shop, my buddy and I tucked in as soon as we got into the car. Good thing we carry a vacuum to clean up all the crumbs.

Croissants are always amazing! Good service…read more Always a line get there early. Best place in town.

It took about 20 minutes to get to the front, which wasn't too bad. We had the potato mushroom, caramel apple, pistachio and plain croissants. The croissant had a nice flaky crust and had all the pockets you would expect from a good croissant. They were all delicious but our favorite was the apple and mushroom potato. The mushroom potato was one of the best savory croissants we have ever had. The Apple croissant tasted like apple pie. There is no seating in the bakery. They do sell cute merchandise worth checking out. Everyone was very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend a visit!

The pastries are absolutely tasty and made with passion and creativity of an extremely talented team, but please be respectful of the locals too who live around in the area. Ambiance continues to be absolutely amazing but again only has 2 chairs so it's best to just get your pastries and coffee / matcha and find a nice place to eat them such as Pier 39, Francisco Park, or Aquatic Park Beach. Hoping their cake shop eventually finds the right location and wish them continued success in the future.

Heard about this place and I'm so glad it was open today! Usually there's only one item for sale…read moreon any given day, and the menu item for today was Moon Cake. I hadn't had a traditional one yet this year, so that was a plus for me. Normally I'm not crazy about the nut moon cakes, but this one was terrific! It was the best moon cake I've had in a while - regular lotus seed with yolk and nuts. The lady at the bakery reminded me of an "auntie" and she was super friendly! Even though today was moon cake, I took a chance and asked if she had any wife cake (Low Po Behng). Unfortunately she didn't, but we had a nice little conversation in Cantonese and it brought me back to childhood and Chinatown in L.A. back in the day. Some people might not like that it's closed (I think that's when she runs out or isn't baking that day) but that's just how it goes. It's nothing personal if someone drives a long way and it's closed. It sounds like sometimes the lines can be long (There was no line for us today - score!) but it's everyone's choice if they're willing to wait or not. It's a little place and you order through the door. To me, that just adds to the quirky adventure of it all. Next time I hope she has Low Po Behng!

Whatever the lady makes for the day, that's the item to get and it can run out soon - then they close shop. Be prepared to pay with cash. There is a Chase and Citibank across the street. If you have a chance to meet "auntie", consider yourself special. Enjoyed our time with a little chit chat - since we were fortunate that it wasn't busy yet. I know some may be upset that it wasn't opened when they showed up - but that's kind of what makes it special - when you do get there in the right day and time. So be warned about the randomness of it all and consider yourself lucky if get a treat.

(i sound like an american health influencer...oh wait i am american). anyway they're a bit too sweet but the frangipane tastes good. the plain one is boring in a bad way. pain suisse is okay too. it's ironic that their best croissants are the day-old ones since they are twice baked with frangipane pumpkin bread was pretty good! again a bit too sweet but spice and pumpkin came in strong like pow pow. bostock was good too - my first time. again a twice baked pastry except it's brioche and the syrup is passionfruit. the fruit flavor was slight but i wish it was stronger. super interesting to eat though i also wish that the heat and freshness of the pastries didn't vary so wildly. some days they're cold as frozen peas and other days they're nice and crispy and warm and fluffy and fireplace-y and hot-mug-y. sorry i have a lot of wishes. unfortunately big B may not be able to satisfy them. i wish i can go back to try the black sesame one but i'm too broke and i have an astronomically low attention span so i can't wait in line
