Excellent food, friendly service, and quiet atmosphere to eat and visit. Highly recommend!

My cute cup of coffee that tasted like booty.

I don't usually rate things at a single star, but I had to for the coffee... the good aspects of this place was the friendly staff and quaint atmosphere. But you have to have a good products to be able to sustain patrons at the minimum. My fiancé and I were in desperate need for an early morning stop before we went to Fort Sumter. He got a quad shot latte with honey while I had a double shot coconut mocha. I wished I had read the reviews prior to my experience here because paying 4-5 dollars for a crummy cup of coffee was disheartening despite how lovely the barista was. As a barista myself, either the training needs to be better with how much coffee the staff puts into the head, how hard they tamp the grind, or the grind needs to be adjusted to a finer grind because the shots were so watery that I might as well have tried to make some Folgers. Neither my fiancé nor myself could taste our honey/coconut mocha. Had we not been in a rush to get to our ferry's departing time, I would have gone back and had it remade. Unfortunately, we opted to throw them out at the first trash can we could find. I truly love supporting local businesses and coffee is a passion of mine, but in this situation, I would have rather given my $10 to a Starbucks (insert crying face). At least in going to a Starbucks you know exactly what you are getting for what you pay.

This is the perfect place to enjoy great coffee and get some work done. The environment is stylish and quiet and the baristas are so friendly. Exactly the coffee shop experience I was going for, you have to try it out!

The Maison Cafe at the Grand Bohemian Charleston on Wentworth Street is a great place for breakfast and coffee. I really like the vibe and atmosphere of the location as there is art on display in the restaurant that really adds to the feeling. The food is really good and well prepared as everything that I have tried is very tasty and flavorful and is delivered in less time than expected. The coffee and drinks are really good and are made well. The staff here is very cool and laid back and give a really good experience to everyone that comes in and go all out to make sure that you have everything you need. Overall I have had a really good experience every time I have come in here and will continue to come back.

Egg white omelette with goat cheese, spinach, and tomato. I switched out the potatoes for fruit.

It's Starbucks. They don't serve intelligentsia anymore, which is a real bummer. Oh well.

Be prepared to pay exorbitant hotel tax on your coffee. 3$ espresso will cost over $4 each. So that's over 30% in tax, geez.

Don't let the name deter you if you are not a gin person because they have many options with different types of liquors. One tip: sit at the bar if you can, the set up is stunning especially for taking photos! The cocktail menu was moderately extensive with two full pages of complex and simple cocktails. Honestly, it was so difficult to choose what drink to get because I wanted to get everything on the menu. The bartenders were so attentive and talented - their implementation of each cocktail was even better than the menu descriptions. Not only were the drinks delicious but also beautifully presented. They have some bar bites as well as quite a few small and large plates, we got the pretzels which to my absolute surprise were so good! If I ever go back to Charleston, I will definitely be hitting this place up.

You can tell the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. The surprise star of the night, though, was the grilled cheese. Calling it a grilled cheese almost feels unfair because this thing was next-level. Perfectly crisp on the outside, rich and gooey on the inside, and paired with the cocktails so well that we were talking about it long after we left. Sometimes the simplest thing on a menu ends up stealing the show. The atmosphere strikes that perfect Charleston balance of classy, cozy, and effortlessly cool. Great service, great drinks, and one of the most memorable grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had. If you're in Charleston and appreciate a serious cocktail program, The Gin Joint is a must-visit. Come for the drinks, stay because the grilled cheese will ruin lesser grilled cheeses for the rest of your life

The drinks were also fantastic, I'd give them a solid 9/10. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment and completely missed the mark. I ordered the tuna crudo, and instead of letting the tuna shine, the dish was completely overwhelmed by hot sauce. There were only about six slices of tuna sitting in what felt like a bowl of sauce, almost a quarter inch deep. It honestly felt more like a hot sauce soup with a little bit of fish added in, which was really disappointing. The service was just okay. The staff wasn't rude, but it also didn't have the level of warmth or hospitality that makes a dining experience memorable. Overall, this place has incredible potential. The space and cocktails are amazing, but the food experience did not match. I really wish I could say I'd go back, but unfortunately I probably wouldn't.

First, we came a little early just to check out the scene and the managers/hosting staff were so kind and encouraging us to sit and relax at the bar before our table was ready. The bar had live music, the bartenders were fast and funny, and the drinks were Fantastic! We laughed and and had fun before the host came and Brigid to our table. Our waiter was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu, knew and acknowledged that we were celebrating our anniversary, and made sure to keep watch and check in throughout our time. The managers were all walking around and even gave us complimentary champagne and dessert to celebrate with us. So so fun and we were overjoyed! Outside of the service and ambiance, the food was top tier. My husband got the shrimp and grits (loved it) and I got one of their steak specials (kept me quiet as I dug in). We shared the okra, lobster Mac and cheese. So so so good. My pictures do not do anything justice because I definitely was more worried about digging in than taking pictures but we will definitely be back again and perhaps I'll get a better picture!

The service was excellent -- polished, warm, and confidently attentive without ever feeling overdone. They know how to make a night feel special. And let me just say: the wine selection was excellent. Thoughtful pours, great bottles, and spot‑on pairing guidance. It felt curated, not crowded. Our table went in on a mix of dishes, and every single one delivered: * Waldorf salad -- crisp, bright, and beautifully balanced * Cioppino -- rich, aromatic, and full of tender seafood * Elevated swordfish -- perfectly cooked with that refined, coastal flair * Mussels -- tender, fragrant, and deeply seasoned * Filet mignon -- melt‑in‑your‑mouth and plated like a little moment High Cotton blends Southern charm with fine‑dining finesse, and it shows in every detail. My group left happy, impressed, and already planning the next visit. Charleston has plenty of great restaurants -- but High Cotton knows how to make you feel like you chose the right one.
