A little gem of a place located in historic old village section in Mt Pleasant. Breakfast and lunch is served here including delicious pastries cakes and cookies. The chicken salad sandwich served on a fresh roll hit the spot. We enjoyed having lunch outdoors in the garden. Nice quiet atmosphere with plenty of tables. The service is friendly and attentive. You will like the cozy atmosphere and quaint cafe style environment. Nice place for a girls get together coffee or quiet business lunch.
My husband and I have been here a few times and always enjoy coming back. We've only ever gotten coffee to go, but it's consistently great every time. While the café isn't officially pet friendly indoors, we've brought Luna inside with us just to place our order, and no one has ever said anything. If you're looking to sit and eat, there's a very cute (though small) porch area out front. Despite the limited seating, we've always managed to find an open spot during our visits. What I didn't realize until more recently is that they actually have a huge patio in the back as well. It's such a great space and gives you a lot more room to sit and relax. They even have a lift in the back area for disabled accessibility, which I thought was really great to see and not something you find everywhere. Always love the coffee here -- great flavor, consistent quality, and a spot we'll definitely keep coming back to.
Stopped in here for drinks, yes DRINKS, after a meal at Post House and was blown away by how incredible the vibes were!! They have a full blown bar and the man working said he made the best espresso martini so we had to try (it was phenomenal). It's just so cute and cozy inside and the perfect low key spot for whatever you are feeling: coffee, hot tea, pastries, wine, or cocktails! If you are in the area you HAVE to check it out and if not you still should! A place that I can go to in the morning or the evening is just so fun to me!
I had such a pleasant afternoon at Gala! The cafe has a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, plus a few seats on the beautiful front porch. I was lucky enough to snag a front porch swing to enjoy my sparkling juice and veggie sandwich. The atmosphere, food, and service were all great. I didn't have a chance to try out their selection of baked goods, but they all looked delicious!

I had a cappuccino that was superb, and my fresh turkey and cranberry panini was insanely scrumptious. The setting was so inviting, super clean, and smothered with Southern charm. Grab a brew and something to eat, sit on the patio, and enjoy... you won't regret it.
Gala is a nice little oasis in a, well, another oasis called Old Village Mount Pleasant. It's the perfect spot to stop for a coffee and a pastry or cookie. I'm not sure what the entire menu offers, but it was a nice mid morning stop for us. The have a nice outdoor seating area, which on a nice day like we had was perfect for relaxing.
I truly wanted to like Gala Cafe, but our cake slices were terrible. Everything was dry, tasted old. It was extremely disappointing. Also, when someone orders coffee it should come with the cake, not 20 minutes after you served the cake. You know it was bad, when most of us left our cakes on the table. Sorry, management/staff should have known that the cakes served were old. They should have been pulled and thrown out. I say that as a bakery-pastry worker . Also, when someone enters the cafe, you should greet them...welcome to Gala Cafe. The 1st thing you shouldn't say is we close in 40 minutes. Charming place, nice ambiance...felt homey. Gala has that going for it. Honestly, I would skip Gala and either go to Kaminsky's or Page's Okra Grill if you're looking for dessert.

We stayed for lunch and had a panini sandwich and the chef salad; we also had a couple desserts and a coffee... Everything was amazing, Staff was great super helpful & We very much enjoyed, will definitely return. I also want to say that for old village their prices are very reasonable.
It was about 30 minutes before closing time & my friends and I wanted a quick night cap and dessert after our dinner. The service was so great here! Our bartender/server was so sweet and welcoming despite our late arrival. I got a spiced cider mule and it was delicious. For dessert I got the peanut butter mousse cake and it was heavenly. My friend that doesn't even like sweets kept taking bites of mine too! It was past closing by the time we were wrapping up and the bartender said we could take our time and stay. Although we didn't, it was nice that they offered that. This is such a cute spot that I would love to visit again soon!

I've left so many reviews in the past for here but it's because I love it so much. I love sharing this spot with friends and family and recommending it to travelers. It's such a cute spot overall, the food never fails me. The coffee definitely never fails. The people there are sweet and passionate with you and event when they are busy they always know how to fix something. It's cute for pictures or just to have a coffee on their outdoor patio. Recently tried their egg sandwich it was so fluffy and the bread was yummy that came with. I always grab either a hot vanilla latte or an iced coffee. Everyone that I bring there love the atmosphere, it's so cute. Perfect spot to go work, or grab a coffee and explore old village. They have a clean restroom there, and WiFi, and outlets at some seating spots. They also have a bar!!! They also have events there which is so fun.
Overall: A great stop for a dessert treat or casual lunch. The good: The Bailey's cheesecake is delicious and filling, good to split between two people. It is rich and decadent, yet simple, with a crumbly base and thick middle. The atmosphere is cozy, and there's a lot more seating than you would initially think (including outdoor seating). Staff was friendly and let us take our time ordering. The fruit smoothie was refreshing. We'll be back again I'm sure - so many desserts to choose from The not-so-good: Not much honestly. Prices are a little high, especially for the non-bakery items, but that's also just the way it is anymore it seems. Smoothie was a little small (again, for the price). Food/drink: 8.5/10 Atmosphere: 8.5/10 Service: 8/10
Cute little family run spot we stumbled across while exploring Mount Pleasant which is a picturesque charming town with this cafe, like the town, looking like it belonged in a Lifetime movie. It was very homey with a small coffee bar and tables inside, on the porch, and side of the house. We ordered lattes and cheesecake to go. I only ordered one and my bill came to $31 which I was taken back, however, ended up being charged for 2 which they caught so we left with two.. so they were likely about $10/piece. The lattes took quite some time and were very strong.. they were not made correctly, definitely had to fix them up. The cheesecake was great.

Such a cute bakery in the old village historic district of mount pleasant area. It feels really cozy and quaint inside. The woman that helped us was very kind and offered us waters right away. We ordered the baileys cheesecake. It was super rich and decadent. It didn't have a strong alcohol flavor, which I liked. It was creamy and very tasty. The chocolate mousse on top was very rich as well. All the other desserts looked amazing too! I will definitely come back to try them! read more
this place is a super cute stop in old village. Staff was very kind and they have interior seating as well as a garden patio. We only came for coffee so we didn't try any of the desserts or food. My latte felt heavy on the milk and not enough espresso, so if I come back I'll have to ask for an extra shot. Great place to pop in for coffee. read more

Pretty good! Came here during the holidays for a little treat. I was a bit confused about the lay of the land. Seems like you go in and order at the counter and then pick a table (there are 2 indoor rooms, we didn't notice the one in the back) or sit outside. The desserts in the case were a bit low, I am attributing to holiday times. But we found 2 that looked tasty: Cookies and Cream cake and Amaretto Pear cake. Both were very good. They were extremely rich and sweet, a bit more so than I typically prefer but they were still quite good, moist, and dense. We also got some teas and coffee. Stopped by the new location of Gala Cafe & Bakery and what a charming delight! The area has some free parking spots along with boutiques and restaurants similar like the previous Avondale location. Each dessert item on display looks just as appetizing as ever and the food items sound stellar as well. There's ample seating inside and out with a bar top area too. You can dine-in or take-out. This time around I went with the ooey gooey fudge tart and my Dad tried the warm, crumbly apple tart. They have a variety of flavors for your lattes or espresso drinks and the one that sparked my interest the most was the brown sugar flavor. I love the presentation of the food. They don't just throw an item on a plate, they take the time to warm up your dish and add some garnishes and finishing touches. Staff is friendly, quick, and helpful. Love the new location and same great quality of food and service. I can't wait to return with my sister for some tea! (When you reserve a slot ahead of time, Gala offers high tea complete with scones and all!) read more

We were a fan of Gala since they were in West Ashley. This new establishment looks amazing and it's was in a quaint Mount Pleasant neighborhood. My wedding cake was ordered from here and it the coconut cake . It the best coconut cake we ever had! We love this near spot, my wife love how insta worthy this place is and the cake was Yums! My wife say this spot is perfect for a high tea. Parking could be a little hard as there is no designated parking area but the day we went new got street parking right away 1 mins walk away. Hidden little spot in Avondale. The staff was very friendly and helpful while decisions were made. Came here with a small group and were the only ones there. We all got desserts and drinks. It was all very tasty and adorable. Kinda feels like they try to do a lot of different things, which would be harder if more people arrived, but it was nice having our private staff. Haha! I'll keep it in mind, since it feels like a great dessert spot after a dinner date. read more

The iced coffees were delicious and refreshing! We each a dessert to go with the coffees and they were amazing! One was a peanut butter concoction that my wife said was noting short of decadent! My dessert was almond joy inspired and was actually tastier than the picture depicts. A beautiful little spot in the old downtown area of Mt. Pleasant. The service was phenomenal as well. The order got confused and they fixed it with no issues. Highly, highly recommended. And just a short drive from the Shem creek eateries! read more
Delicious food, excellent service, and cozy ambiance in here! If it's nice out, I highly recommend sitting on the outside patio. We split the spinach and artichoke dip, charcuterie board, spinach and feta quiche, and pesto mozz panini. There wasn't a crumb left on the plates! Stopped in after Charleston Race Week. Delicious berry cobbler. Indoor and outdoor seating. Such a beautiful day so I sat on the porch. Berry cobbler was heated to perfect temperature. They had lots of choices for deserts. They all looked delicious. read more
