    Maple Latte

Stopped here for coffee on my last day in Charleston. Not only do they have amazing drinks and pastries, but they also have delightful gifts for sale! Adorable seating area inside and out. Absolutely loved my maple latte!

The cutest quaint breakfast spot - everyone else knows it too because it was already sold out of a lot of items by 10:30/11am on a Friday We ordered: - sweet potato loaf: with berry and cream cheese whipped topping, it was rich! - Fig and Brie biscuit: the Brie and fig jam are baked into the biscuit layers for a "treasure hunting experience" - Pimento and bacon biscuit: Sharp cheese, savory bacon, and a light kick of pepper jelly is a wonderfully unique savory combination complemented by the biscuit flaky layers. It was a bit dry so I wished the cafe offered oats of butter - Cardamom latte: this was just a cinnamon latte Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - Limited street parking nearby - Expect a wait for a table at peak times and for bakery items to sell out fast

Great latte + great food I arrived around noon and they were sold out of the biscuit sandwich I wanted, which lets you know how delicious their food is. You order as soon as you come. If dining it, find a seat, place your table top # down and they'll bring your food. Listen for your name to pick up your coffee. Grab your own water from the counter, they don't bring it. The quiche was amazing and loaded with veggies, even corn, and I believe it had ricotta in it too. The flavor was amazing and I loved the crunchy top. Im glad I got it!

Great spot hidden in Charleston that I happen to come across while looking to grab a bite for breakfast. Cute little spot with limited seating indoor and out. Line was out the most of the time I was there. I waited about 20 minutes for my Wholy City Quiche to go....and worth the wait.

Discovered this sweet little bakery while out in a walk. The food is delicious, the service is quick and the inside is cute as can be. I highly recommend this bakery

Crazy wait for a breakfast sandwich at this breakfast cafe. We ended up skipping the sandwich and trying different items on the menu that were more accessible because 30 mins seemed ridiculous to warm up a biscuit and put the other ingredients on. And this after a 20 mins seemed ridiculous wait in line to order. It was a special weekend in the city so we understood the busyness but the lack of preparedness seems like something they should be aware of. Anyway, beyond that... the food was good. The coffee was decent. Buying water in a carton was fru-fru and silly but oh well. We enjoyed the food and the old building where the shop is was really cool. There are other things on the menu I'd like to try so I'd go back but it also wasn't the most compelling place I've been recently.

What an amazing experience I had hear. Such a cozy coffee shop with a delicious latte in one of the coolest mug I've ever used at a coffee shop. The baristas were sweet. I ordered an Oat Milk Caramel Pumpkin Latte and it was very delicious. Would definitely revisit this cute shop for another coffee and maybe a pastry next time.

Had to try one of the most prominent coffee spots in Charleston. Got there around 10:30 and the line was out the door but it only took about 10 minutes to get through. Inside was super cute. Really old place with charm. Decent amount of seating but fills up fast. They sold really cute stickers at checkout. They had specialty fall drinks but I didn't see until after I ordered. I wish they had it on the menu so I could've known because I definitely would've ordered. I got the honey maple iced latte and my mom got the vanilla spiced latte. We also ordered the ricotta biscuit with honey butter and pear compote. We waited quite a while but it was reasonable considering the amount of people there. The coffee was excellent and definitely the best I had of all the coffee shops I tried in Charleston. They really focus on the quality of the coffee. The biscuit was marginal at best. I felt it was very dry. I was somewhat disappointed because I had heard great things about the baked goods here. The honey butter and pear compote were great, though. Get there around 9am to avoid the line and find a seat. Get the coffee, skip the ricotta biscuit. Would definitely stop by the next time I'm in town to get a coffee.

Perfect spot to grab a coffee and walk around South of Broad. Small space but there are a few tables to sit at and a cute small shop at the front. The pastries looked great, especially the big cookies. I got the ice spice vanilla latte. I'm excited to come back and try some fall flavors.

Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had in my life. I still think about it to this day. You HAVE to go here.

Earl gray lavender latte. A little underwhelming.

When we walked up to a line out the door I got excited, assuming it would be stellar. The interior when we finally got in the door was so so cute. Loved it. That's kind of where the impressive elements ended. Got a spiced vanilla scone. That was solidly good and I'd get it again. Got the avo toast. It was just ok for me. The miso and sesame seeds were not spread evenly so it was a lot of lopsided bites. I didn't finish it. The breakfast sandwich was extremely dry. I have no idea why it is popular. The eggs are like a premade microwaved feeling patty of scramble. They tasted so dry I couldn't finish the bite. The coffees were good. If maybe go back for a coffee and scone to go. Otherwise, skip it.

This was my first stop in Charleston. It did NOT disappoint. It was highly rated and talked about by friends that had been to the city before. The coffee was smooth and they had fun flavors, more than just your typical syrups. The food was outstanding. I got a lot to share with my husband. The quiche had a cheese crisp layer on top than added the perfect flare to make it more than you typical quiche. The pump it up bar was like a moist slice of cake even though it was an oat date type bar. And the spinach artichoke bun had a little hint of spice that made the flavors pop. My husband can't stop talking and wants to go back for breakfast tomorrow!

Absolutely charming cafe that has whimsical decor and a shabby chic esthetic. Delicious GG bowl with what they had left 30 minutes before close. Yummy lavender tea and avocado pastry. Service was patient and friendly. I can't wait return.

I have been living in Charleston since 2010 and have been looking for a French restaurant for years. One day while walking around the French Quarter I noticed a quaint lil French bistro and put it on my "gotta try" list. So I came to see what all the 5 star reviews were about and boy was I disappointed from the get go. I try my best not to judge a book by its cover and lemme tell you I'm not scared of whole in the walls and the gems in different hodgepodge places, if it's got good eats, I'm there. I usually will try a restaurant 3 times before writing a review but helllllll no. The food and experience was so bad y'all! I have to tell you about my experience NOW while the bad taste is still in my mouth! I ordered the soup of the day which was she crab soup and a baguette. I thought cool French baguette is my fave and how could you go wrong with soup. No, I got 2 small slices of stale baguette top with some kind of cheese like a lunchable you can get at the grocery store and soup that was too salty to eat! So I said let me try something that you can't mess up. A croissant! A chocolate one well they messed that up too! How can you get a croissant wrong, and it was store bought croissants! Yuck! From a FRENCH restaurant, not made in house but if I'm wrong then those were the worst croissants ever!!!!!! Please people don't eat here! The serve staff did not greet us, ignored us and asked a white patron about his party of guests even though we were there 10 minutes before and the host knew he did wrong for asking to seat the other guy before acknowledging us because he caught my stare and we locked eyes and I did not back down or break the eye contact to let him know, yea fellow you totally ignored me for 10 minutes and asked the other guy how many in his party 1st! Even after the poor service I was dealt with in the beginning I still wanted to give it a chance, but after hearing how the wait staff addressed other patrons about how short staff they were and how horrible they had to do so many things I about had it. I was looking forward to a hot fresh French press coffee and was let down again. Weakest French press coffee just take my advice and walk swiftly past this whole in the wall. I can't believe this place is still open after so many years. Really Charlestonians!?! Really? I know we have more restaurants per square capita but this one has got to go. We ate some food because we were shopping and so hungry, but after that we paid and left fast

The hostess took my phone number down and said she would text me to let me know when our table was ready. Since this location is in downtown Charleston, it was easy to wander around outside and keep ourselves entertained until I got the text that our table was about to be ready and we had 10 minutes to check in. Once I checked in, we were seated immediately and told to scan the QR code at the table to see the menu. A few minutes later, our server came by and asked if we wanted coffee or other drinks. After she came back with drinks, she took our order. I got the cornmeal pancakes. They are made of cornmeal so they had a different taste than what I was used to with pancakes. It wasn't a bad taste. They tasted like a combo of sweet, but also savory. They also felt very light so I didn't feel overstuffed after eating them. Because of how busy they are, they got us in and out in less than 40 minutes. There are signs at the table to not stay longer than 90 minutes, but this was no problem here. Just something to keep in mind to not hang around if you're done with your meal and you see a giant wait outside. As we were leaving, other people were being quoted about a 45+ minute wait. Since it's in downtown Charleston, there is no dedicated parking lot. However, there is street parking available nearby. As someone that cannot parallel park, I went the safe route and parked in a parking garage that was close by. I paid $4 for that. Overall, great breakfast place and quick service!

Poogan's Porch is a couple blocks off the main Market/Bay path, but it's still close to a good number of hotels and historic sites. It was a casual 15 minute stroll from my hotel right on E Bay. The service and food were excellent and the setting is inside a finely converted historic style home. We had a reservation for brunch on a weekday, but it wouldn't have been impossible to walk in that time of day. I would assume that it gets busier on weekends and in more tourist seasons. There is an option for outside seating, but in the Charleston heat and humidity, we opted for sitting inside. My friend and I each got cocktails and entrees. Cocktails were generously sized and reasonably priced. I was right to get the cajun remoulade on the side of my Fried Chicken Sandwich as this allowed me to dole out my spice as I could tolerate. My friend's Chicken and Waffles were fluffy and moist. The seasoning on these boneless chicken tenders was *chef's kiss*. Here's the only thing that I will mention as a drawback: The bathrooms. I understand this is a converted house and the historic-ness is part of its charm. However, when your women's bathroom has two stalls and one of the toilets isn't screwed into the floor and you cannot close the door without straddling the bowl... there's an impact to your enjoyment of the restaurant. I would emphasize this even more when the waste basket in the bathroom is overflowing and there are multiple hosts at the host stand waiting for customers to come in. If you haven't been to Poogan's Porch, it's worth a visit the next time you're in Charleston.
