from box of candied fruits and nuts. I ate a lot of it so it's just the label.

Hi Mai's Bakery! I got a box of your mixed dry fruit and nuts candies for tet this year. I really enjoyed all of the varieties and want to thank you. I'm sorry to see the reviews from people who do not understand that the stores you ship to are responsible for maintaining the integrity of your products. Anyway, I'm from Sacramento but I visited once when i was in LA cause I love your sticky rice and other things. I'm a big fan! Thank you

I bought a box of "bánh gai" which was sold in a supermarket in Oregon. I would like to know what is Mai bakery owner address so i can send them an authentic "bánh gai". Hopefully they know the taste and at least can copy its taste better

Can't believe this place is still in business after getting a harsh letter from the FDA http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/ucm261768.htm Bought some items from the local market (Ranch 99) that were made by this bakery and they were moldy! Disgusting! I'm disgusted that this place is still open for business and that the Health department hasn't shut them down yet.

I picked this box of four white moon cake at Thuan Phat Supermarket. The skin is thick and dry. Texture is just like rubber. Using my fingers, I can break it apart easily without any effort! Fairly, I vote it the worst bánh dẻo that I've ever tasted in the past 50 years! Don't waste your money on this brand. Too bad, they will end up in the trash bin after the first bite.

The hours are a bit limited, but I managed to make it in time to grab some pre-made baked goods to go. I got a bag of coconut macaroons, bag of several chocolate chip cookies, 2 red velvet cookies, a baked dog cookie biscuit, and a cute Keroppi sugar cookie. Most of these ended up being gifts, but I did enjoy one of the red velvet cookies and for an already sweet flavor profile with white chocolate chips in it, I was already fearing the worse, but went perfect with a glass of milk. The edges were nicely crisped by the baking too. Delicious. Love that they had a stock of cute, pre-decorated cookies available as well (some Sanrio characters, animals, etc.) They also list all the ingredients used in each of the baked goods that they have prepackaged, which is nice. It's also a cafe where you can order drinks, as well as a place you can order cakes custom order or what they have behind the glass already. There's both seating inside and outside.

There's a small parking lot in the back, but spaces can be hard to find and I ended up having to park on the street the first time I went. (FYI - they are going to open a Goomo tea shop on the corner in the same space!) D'ange has so many fun flavors of buns. I really liked the taro with mochi one. The only thing about the buns is that the fillings tend to be only on one side of the bun, so there are been times as I'm biting into the bun, I'm not getting any filling until the last couple bites. They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. I don't know many places that sell these, and I used to eat them all the time when my grandma made them years ago, but now that no one in my family knows how to make them, it's a special treat if I can find it. They have ones with meat (with or without peanuts), and some with just the mung bean. They must be really know for this because 2 other parties ahead of me were buying tons of the tamales!

The owner (I presume) handed us a prepackaged brown bag the moment we got there. It wasn't busy at all so the whole transaction was under 5 minutes. It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. However, I would say these days $3 would get you bigger buns at other similar bakeries, but their fillings were very generous, so it's hard to say. Parking has spots designated to the bakery so look out for the signs.

Its a small shop on Main in Alhambra and there's a lot in the back as well as street parking. It's a brightly lit, pick up and go type place though there are a couple tables out front. The baked goods look really cute and enticing and I ended up going for a mystery box since I wasn't after a specific cake and the mystery aspect seemed appealing. I also got 6 egg tarts, which were a great price at $1 each. The baked goods/sweets looked better than they tasted flr me. The egg tarts had a texture that was a bit off putting for myself, it was more of a steamed egg texture than a silky custardy filling. Flavorwise, they were ok though. The mystery box was fun and I got an apple cake, peach cake, and a panda cake. Now the mystery box is day old cakes so keeping that in mind, they are like cream based "cakes" and are essentially cream covered gels/jellies of some sort. The flavor and textures were good, very light cream with strong fruit flavors (the panda was also a peach flavor, I think). As a set of the mystery box price, I think the cakes are fun to try but I wouldn't, personally, pay those prices for essentially shaped cream. I'm glad I tried a new spot but ultimately don't think it was super impressive and found most of their desserts and baked items to be average, or a little less so as for the egg tarts.

The brick toast is amazing, but it is only available for dine in and only during certain hours. I would highly recommend the Volcano Strawberry Toast. Even their drink menu is quite significant. There are fresh teas, milk teas, fruit teas, slushes, frosted milk, and coffees. Their drinks do lean towards the sweeter side. For fruit teas, you can taste the syrup pretty clearly. Both of these have flaky, buttery exterior shells that are wonderful to bite into. For cakes, I love the strawberry soft cream cake. This cake is simple, light, and not too sweet. The thin layers of vanilla, soft cream, and strawberries blend excellently together. I appreciate that they provide free candles with whole cakes. An underrated cake is the green tea roll cake, which is delicious, but not ideal for celebrations.
