Canto speaking and open until 7pm, 7 days a week. Friendly aunties and stern husbands/male workers. Big variety of buns, pastries and cakes. Have both Portuguese and HK egg custard tarts. Breads are a little pricey (avg $4 ea), but everything is nowadays. We always stop in for a roll cake to bring with us when visiting relatives.

Best looking and tasting durian cake ever! Made my mama happy! They have cakes ready to go but you should order ahead of time because the durian and fruit cakes are made fresh! Forgot to take photos...

I think this bakery is hit or miss? They have a lot of really good-looking cakes in the bakery case. I needed a cake, so I stopped in. It def smells good inside! I got a 6" tiramisu cake that cost $30. It looked pretty, but I thought it tasted ok. It had a good sweetness level. The cake had alternating layers of jelly-mousse stuff with coffee cake. The top was creamy and had a layer of cocoa powder. I saw a chicken pot pie in the case next to the register and decided to try it for ~$3. It was warmed and delicious !!!! The layers were flaky and buttery. The inside chicken pot pie didn't burn my mouth, and it was a good savory taste. This was a nice surprise from a bakery visit. Bakers spoke English. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted.

Wow surly prices went up the last 10-20 years! Came in and got a handful of breads and it's $40 bucks! Like 6 things but this place is self served, you can get your daily dose of breakfast breads (Asian style) and also order birthday cakes etc. Got my daughter a panda shaped chocolate bun. Needed snacks for a baseball game to hold us over for dinner. Service was fine. They ring you up and bag your items, that's about it! Not the worse or the best! It's average!

I am so happy this place is still open! My mom used to bring us here during the weekends so we can get egg tarts and pastries to snack on for the week. That was nearly over 25 years ago! We really enjoy their egg tarts, cocktail buns, pork floss buns, and sesame balls. We weren't huge fans of the bbq pork bun, the bread itself was good but the cuts of pork were a little fatty. Do note that they make everything in house so assortment and stock of baked goods will depend on the time of day and day of the week you go! They also do custom cakes and they have a binder full of examples you can choose from. I haven't ordered a custom cake before but I've gotten one of their other layered cakes for my grandma for one of her birthdays; I remember her liking it! The people behind the counter mostly speak Cantonese but can understand English. They're usually really nice regardless of what language you speak (: Try to bring cash! If not, there's a $10 minimum for card. Also, their card reader wasn't working when I went and thankfully I had some cash on hand. I'd bring some cash just in case! Is it the fanciest bakery? No, but it's quaint and they definitely have a few star baked goods in the mix!

    Danish bun and Pineapple bun

It's so easy to pass by this shopping center and not realize that a bakery is there, but Diamond Bakery is not one you should overlook! I decided to try several different pastries, including the taro bun, pineapple bun, an egg tart, Portuguese style egg tart and a Danish bun. Out of all of these, the Portuguese style egg tart is the most delicious! It has the perfect balance of sweetness and flavorful custard, and the crispy dough was an amazing combination to complete this egg tart. The pineapple bun is also really delicious! The flavor was profound and spread out through all of the bun, and the break had a great chewy texture. The taro bun was a good pastry, though the taro flavor was on the lighter side. However, the bread itself was fresh and enjoyable. The egg tart was decent, but there wasn't really any sweetness in the custard. This may be the style of this bakery, so if you like egg tarts that are lighter on sweetness, this one may be one you like! Lastly, the Danish bun was the only bread which I felt underwhelmed with. I expected some cream in the filling, but sadly it was just bread. The bread was okay, but not worth the price when you can get better options like the Pineapple bun! Overall, there are a treasure trove of great pastries to enjoy at the Diamond Bakery, and I will definitely stop by to get more of them!

Blueberry yogurt bun and bbq pork bun

Service isn't a friendly as they used to be, but it's still ok. I came later in the day around 3 or 4, so not as much selection. Pork curry puff pastry was good, flavorful and flaky. Bbq pork bun was solid, lots of meat. Not the best I've had, but filling. I tried the blueberry yogurt bun for the first time, and that was tasty. My favorites are still the curry bun, and cream filled pineapple bun aka nai wong bo lo bao. Maybe I'll be early enough to get them next time.

Cake looked nice but very dry with no flavor.
    Adrian F.

I really don't know how to say this but I will first say that staff is very friendly and helpful. With that being said now I must say that I was very disappointed with the cake. No flavor and texture was very very dry. My wife paid so much for a cake that nobody enjoyed. At the end of the night I noticed most of the tables had let the cake with only a few bites taken. Sorry Diamond Bakery but this is the truth.

$47 for 6 inch cake. Design code: TB1040

Card accepted with minimum of $10 purchase. They don't have a ton of options for the pre-made bakery buns laying out. They just have what is there. Wished they had the classic hot dog bun but didn't have any this day. We need a cute cake for a girl's birthday. We came in here on a whim as we were right next door picking up some snacks. So glad we walked in here, they have some cute cake options. And you can't go wrong with Asian birthday cakes. They're light, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. We placed an order to be picked up a few days in advance. It was ready to be picked up right when they opened at 8am which was helpful for an office girl. TB1040 was the design code of our cake, topped with a Hello Kitty figurine. $47 for a 6 inch cake. It was outlined with light pink and dotted with mini pastel hearts all over with pastel rainbows along the sides. They had a few different Hello Kitty figurines to choose from and placed the one we chose on hold for our cake. We chose to fill the cake with strawberries and they were fresh.

Had a full sheet of strawberry cake for an epic bday party. The cake is pretty good, very fluffy, light, not overly sweet and has a crunchy layered interior which is different and fun. Overall good cake for large parties that feeds many.

    Wedding Cake from Diamond Bakery

Diamond Bakery did a really great job on our wedding cake! Sandy was incredibly helpful and let us try several different flavor combinations. She offered helpful suggestions that the guests really enjoyed - mango was a bit hit at the wedding. We provided a box of fake flowers that the bakery used to decorate the cake and they also piped on frosting flowers. It was exactly what we wanted!

    Cake tasting!
    Camilla T.

I'm shocked at the low rating! But I guess people normally don't rate bakeries unless they really love or really hate a place! We had cake tasting here for our wedding cake and were able to work with the manager Shay! The cakes were delicious! We tried to white cake with strawberry, mango mousse sponge cake, red velvet with cream cheese and the cappuccino cake. My two favorites were the signature strawberry cake and the mango mousse cake. I killed those. The red velvet was dry and regular. The cappuccino cake was delicious, but I am not a coffee drinker so I couldn't see myself serving it at my wedding! Shay was super helpful. There was lots of activity going on that day (Friday). Lots of people picking up cakes, fruit tarts, etc. The staff were busy and everyone seemed happy with their orders! Small place. I only wish they had chairs for the cake tasting, because we had to wait 20-25 mins for them to prepare the samples. Everything else was great tho!

The hours are a bit limited, but I managed to make it in time to grab some pre-made baked goods to go. I got a bag of coconut macaroons, bag of several chocolate chip cookies, 2 red velvet cookies, a baked dog cookie biscuit, and a cute Keroppi sugar cookie. Most of these ended up being gifts, but I did enjoy one of the red velvet cookies and for an already sweet flavor profile with white chocolate chips in it, I was already fearing the worse, but went perfect with a glass of milk. The edges were nicely crisped by the baking too. Delicious. Love that they had a stock of cute, pre-decorated cookies available as well (some Sanrio characters, animals, etc.) They also list all the ingredients used in each of the baked goods that they have prepackaged, which is nice. I especially love the edible chocolate "Happy Birthday" sign and how they package everything so beautifully in a white box with a gold bow and a lavender flower touch it's such a thoughtful and elegant detail. There's a small parking lot in the back, but spaces can be hard to find and I ended up having to park on the street the first time I went. (FYI - they are going to open a Goomo tea shop on the corner in the same space!) D'ange has so many fun flavors of buns. I really liked the taro with mochi one. The only thing about the buns is that the fillings tend to be only on one side of the bun, so there are been times as I'm biting into the bun, I'm not getting any filling until the last couple bites. They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. I don't know many places that sell these, and I used to eat them all the time when my grandma made them years ago, but now that no one in my family knows how to make them, it's a special treat if I can find it. They have ones with meat (with or without peanuts), and some with just the mung bean. They must be really know for this because 2 other parties ahead of me were buying tons of the tamales!

The owner (I presume) handed us a prepackaged brown bag the moment we got there. It wasn't busy at all so the whole transaction was under 5 minutes. It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. However, I would say these days $3 would get you bigger buns at other similar bakeries, but their fillings were very generous, so it's hard to say. The baked goods look really cute and enticing and I ended up going for a mystery box since I wasn't after a specific cake and the mystery aspect seemed appealing. I also got 6 egg tarts, which were a great price at $1 each. The baked goods/sweets looked better than they tasted flr me. The egg tarts had a texture that was a bit off putting for myself, it was more of a steamed egg texture than a silky custardy filling. Flavorwise, they were ok though. The mystery box was fun and I got an apple cake, peach cake, and a panda cake. Now the mystery box is day old cakes so keeping that in mind, they are like cream based "cakes" and are essentially cream covered gels/jellies of some sort. The flavor and textures were good, very light cream with strong fruit flavors (the panda was also a peach flavor, I think). As a set of the mystery box price, I think the cakes are fun to try but I wouldn't, personally, pay those prices for essentially shaped cream. I'm glad I tried a new spot but ultimately don't think it was super impressive and found most of their desserts and baked items to be average, or a little less so as for the egg tarts.
