    The Narragansett Lager!

We discovered MainSail after getting off the boat from the Newport Jazz Fest. MainSail is located in the Newport Marriott. The drink and food prices are not over the top for a hotel. Stephanie was our server. We ordered a Cabernet and some beers. Food- Clam chowder, Chicken Tacos and Mussels- Good quality! The outside views of the yachts moving through waters are mesmerizing at sunset! Overall service was good and prompt. Definitely recommend Mainsail for drinks and food. It won't break the bank!

We had $30 credit to spend at the Marriott so we decided to eat breakfast here, since our baby woke up so early. Wow, I was so impressed! Definitely way better than many other hotel breakfasts. The staff was so nice to us too! Loved the avocado toast and their home fries were great.

Came here for our Thanksgiving lunch. The view was great. We sat right by the window and could oversee the entire harbor. For the food, the crab cakes were more like a croquette but that's OK. They were delicious. The main I got was the swordfish which might have been slightly undercooked. Nothing terrible though, and the veggies around it were fantastic. My wife got the turkey dinner, and the amount of food was wild. She had at least double my quantity! She got the apple pie dessert, which she raved about. Even though pie a la mode is nice, not really great for cold weather. I got the pumpkin pie latte tiramisu. It was delicious! The service was decent, but the place was practically empty. The price was a little high for what we got considering no drinks were included at all.

The service here was just amazing! Came here for our anniversary night on a Saturday night. They're practicing social distancing while making others wear a mask to come in. You can take off your mask once you're at the table. The manager (didn't get his name) was amazing. Very hospitable... and just awesome. Our server Samantha was such a sweetheart. Very attentive of our table! We had a wonderful anniversary thanks to you both. The lobster risotto was delicious ! A lot of lobster in it! The fish tacos were the best we have ever had. This place is Highly recommended!

The only reason to eat at mainsail is convenience. It's located in the lobby of the Newport Marriot. We had the breakfast buffet for $20 per person. Standard omelet station, waffles made to order, and a buffet of cereal, granola, fruit (good selection of berries, melon, grapefruit, pineapple), yogurt, assorted breads and muffins and a hot station of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Coffee, tea and juice are included but not self serviced. Food is average, service is great. But one morning is enough. We all decided to eat in town the next day. That says it all.

The restaurant was packed, and since we didn't have a reservation, we ended up sitting in the bar area. Honestly, that wasn't a bad thing--the views of the sunset and the wharf were beautiful. The drinks came out quickly, although my cocktail had way too much citrus. The oysters arrived next, and they were fresh and delicious, so we were all feeling pretty good about the meal and looking forward to our entrées. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. We waited an entire hour for our entrées to arrive, and the waitstaff wasn't very forthcoming with updates. We had to track someone down anytime we had a question or needed something, which became very frustrating. Once the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. Several of the dishes were extremely salty. I ordered the swordfish, which was slightly overcooked, and the vegetables were overwhelmingly acidic, as if an entire bottle of vinegar had been poured over them. They were also topped with a generous amount of capers, making the dish even saltier. Overall, it just wasn't enjoyable. I mentioned my concerns to our waitress, but unfortunately, she didn't seem particularly concerned. Hopefully, she passed the feedback along to the chef so some adjustments can be made. The beautiful waterfront setting and fresh oysters were definitely highlights which gained a star here but unfortunately, the long wait, lack of communication, and disappointing entrées overshadowed the experience.

We were both really glad we went there because dining indoors was lovely, and we still had a great view of the bay. The food was delicious, we walked around outside after our meal, so we didn't feel like we lost out on any aspect of our lunch. It was just rearranged. We both ordered lobster rolls, which came with French fries. The lobster roll was incredibly overstuffed with lots of beautiful lobster meat. It was impressive to see and even better to bite into. The lobster was sweet and succulent and loads of it, surrounded by a buttery brioche bun. Fabulous !! It was a wonderful first meal of our vacation, so we were off to a great start. We decided to split dessert and ordered their lemon meringue tart. It was so pretty, and it tasted even better. It was a beautiful day when we went there... not too hot nor humid. This place is known for a whole slew of adirondack chairs laid out on the inn's "hill." It was quite crowded when we were there. Very popular spot. I'm so glad we opted to have our lunch indoors at this famous inn at Castle Hill. We loved it.

When making our reservation, we noticed there was an option to mark that we were celebrating an anniversary, and I have to say, they truly acknowledged it in such a thoughtful way. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who immediately wished us a happy anniversary. We were then escorted upstairs to our table, where we were treated to a beautiful view overlooking the harbor. The restaurant itself is elegant without feeling stuffy, making it the perfect setting for a special occasion. Our server, Cailin, greeted us promptly, wished us a happy anniversary, and offered us a complimentary champagne toast. While neither of us are big champagne drinkers, it was such a thoughtful gesture that immediately made the evening feel even more special. It's little touches like that that turn a nice dinner into a memorable celebration. Moreover, it was just nice to hear the champagne flutes clink. (Plus the champagne was great!) To drink, we both ordered the dragon fruit margaritas. They were not only delicious but absolutely beautiful, with their vibrant pink color and striking black salt rim. To start, we shared the Caesar salad (without anchovies) and the stuffed artichoke. The Caesar dressing tasted homemade and was packed with flavor. The stuffed artichoke was easily the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked and served with a divine green goddess sauce that I could have eaten by the spoonful. My husband also ordered the clam chowder, which he absolutely loved. I don't eat seafood, but I tried a spoonful of the broth and even I thought it was excellent. For our entrées, my husband ordered the pork, and I chose the New York strip steak. Both were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I paired my steak with both the horseradish crema and Bowen's steak sauce, while my husband enjoyed the chimichurri with his pork. Every sauce complemented the dishes beautifully. For sides, we ordered the seasonal vegetables, which were perfectly cooked green beans, the four-cheese potatoes au gratin with crumbled bacon, and the truffle mac and cheese. The potatoes were rich and comforting, the green beans provided the perfect balance, and the truffle mac and cheese was absolutely incredible, not to mention a very generous portion. Before our entrées arrived, our table was presented with beautiful steak knives, another thoughtful detail that elevated the experience and made cutting into the steak effortless. By the end of dinner we were completely full, so instead of dessert we each ordered an espresso martini. They were perfectly balanced and the ideal way to end such an incredible meal. From the stunning harbor views and elegant atmosphere to the impeccable service and outstanding food, every part of our evening felt special. We left feeling celebrated, and we're so happy we chose 22 Bowen's for our first wedding anniversary. If you're looking for a restaurant in Newport to celebrate a milestone or simply enjoy an exceptional meal, this is one I wholeheartedly recommend.
