Annie's is a nice little neighborhood diner on Bellevue Avenue, right next to the Tennis Hall of Fame. It's very nicely decorated, has a cozy atmosphere, and offers the best apple pie on the island. I find the service to be average. It's common for my bill to hit the table before I'm halfway finished with my meal, and the servers sometimes congregate in the back instead of actively instead of actively greeting guests or seeing them out. That's not the end of the world. Most places are average. That's why it's the average. When I'm on Bellevue and looking for a good, quick meal, Annie's ranks high on my list. read more

Cute diner, friendly staff, and tasty food. I can see why this place is popular. Tight squeeze for some tables. My boyfriend got bumped as people walked by and his coffee spilled. The doors blow open when it's windy so the nice ladies working had to repeatedly make sure both doors were securely closed properly to avoid the gusts of winter air coming in. I had the soup and half sandwich combo. The chicken salad sandwich on rye was delicious and the French onion soup was fantastic too. My boyfriend enjoyed his Maryland Crabcake Benedict. as an annie visiting annie's i really wanted to love this place, especially since this place was adorned with ornaments hanging from the ceiling and had a cozy diner vibe, which we felt was the perfect brunch spot during our christmas weekend trip to newport. wrong. we ordered the french toast and the farmer's omelette. the french toast was lacking. the presentation was fantastic with powdered sugar and the thick slices of bread, but when it came down to it, no matter how much syrup we put on the toast, the syrup was not sweet and the toast didn't absorb the syrup. it was underwhelming but fine. however, the farmer's omelette was the straw that broke the camel's back. the farmer's omelette is a veggie omelette and no where on the menu is there a single mention of meat. and so, my friend who is a vegetarian ordered it. while she was eating, everything was fine, tasty even! that is, until we saw a clear chunk of sausage and piece of bacon in the omelette towards the end. we have no idea how much of it was in the rest of the omelette that she ate but talk about serious cross contamination. when we brought it up to the server, she looked like she could literally care less. no message to the kitchen, no offer to remove the item from our bill, nothing. with such bland food and unsympathetic service, seriously do yourself a favor and skip the trip here. read more

I used AI to find a quick nearby place as I was passing through town. It boasted that this was a favorite place of locals, that it had a quick and very reasonable breakfast. Etc. I did see some low reviews but figured why not. It was merely ok. We ordered the simplest breakfast on the menu, which was surprisingly low too, like $6.95 however, they totally jacked you on the serving of potatoes. It was not even 1/4 cup, like literally 4 little potato pieces. Very skimp. I would gladly have paid more for a normal serving, to tell the truth. We ordered a pancake, and it was way undercooked, like literally pale! It was like they didn't care to really brown it at all, it was just confusing, tbh. I had the corned beef hash, and they were telling the truth, it was homemade, and actually not bad, but just a bit bland. I will not rate them super low, however, because we had the most wonderful service. Our waitress happily greeted us, took care of our needs, and constantly checked on us. They say that this is home of the best corned beef hash. I would like to refuse, it was tasteless mushy had onions in it. They were boiled or something cuz it was so slimy feeling. The potatoes had no taste and was super overcooked that they were mushy. So I didn't eat any of my meal. I did however have some clam chowder and that was pretty good. And the lady serving us was so nice, other than that I don't really have much to say about this place is kind of tiny it seems crammed at the time. This quaint little eatery is the best kept secret. Although it's not really a steep grit, we were told it was the best place to go. But I love the fact that it was named after the first Irish immigrant to sign her name at Ellis Island. Or at least that's what we were told! There are pictures all over the walls and the waitress was absolutely amazing, giving us stories and tips on where to go in the area that we're not known to many tourists. We went to everything she said and had the best 3 day trip ever. The quiche does not have crust but is somehow still a mile high. The eggs benedict were amazing. I did not get a picture of my homemade corned beef hash and poached egg, but it was the best thing I've ever had. She said they are known for it, and I absolutely see why. Our party of 8 was seated immediately. Upon arriving, I stated that I had a gluten allergy to the friendly hostess, who outlined options I could eat. I ordered a garden salad with shrimp, stating again to the waiter that I had a gluten allergy. When my meal arrived, it was covered in croutons which would definitely make me very sick. The waiter asked the kitchen to remake the salad because I could not safely eat it. The chef loudly stated (heard by everyone in my party) that I would need to wait as long as it took him to remake the salad because I did not let them know I had a gluten allergy. The hostess immediately defended me and stated I had in fact let them know multiple times. Everyone in my party finished eating all their meals and my salad still did not arrive. A few people waited with me when the salad arrived and I quickly ate it. Apologies were given by the hostess and the waiter. There was no offer to compensate for the upsetting experience. Lovely little place, one little menu change suggestion the Huevos Rancheros should be changed to Breakfast burrito. I was expecting corn tortillas black beans eggs cilantro maybe avocado salsa what was placed in front of me was a burrito with 2 breakfast sausage patties ( totally didn't except these ) eggs salsa and cheese. Had a late Sunday Brunch and was worried I was a bit too late (came around 2 pm and Annie's closes at 3 pm) but Annie's pulled through! They provided me immediately with a refreshing glass of orange juice. I took the half sandwich and soup option, as well as their Famous Slice of French Toast. The Lobster Bisque was the star of the meal, very thick and creamy! The savory flavor from the lobster really shines through! The chicken salad sandwich was also fresh and filling. Expect a long wait at Annies, as we did on a Monday morning. I think we waited about an hour. Also, the whole process of waiting is not organized here at all. Right when i was about to tell my family lets go because these people have no idea what theyre doing, my name finally got called. Keep that in mind because this place is overwelmed. Inside wasnt much better. The server addressed the issue and said the chef sent home a server and they were short staff. I was sympathetic to their problem, but this was pretty annoying and unprofessional to do on the chefs part on a monday morning - on a holiday weekend. The place is small as it is, and when you walk in, you get an amazing smell of the food, so its hard to walk away! That being said, we were forgotten about a few times and i asked for coffee 2 times, finally the 3rd time the server remembered and wanted to bring it over, and i didnt even want it at that point. The clam chowder was amazing. I highly suggest getting it. It is loaded with clams and flavor. its not too salty or buttery. i could drown myself in this stuff right here! The eggs florentine had a few issues. Eggs were very undercooked. way too much yolk, and gooey. The hollandaise sauce was good, but there needed to be more. the spinach was so earthy and fresh, this was such a good part of the eggs benedict. hopefully i just came on bad day, but overall the service sucked. read more

First we were seated at the bar, we ordered breakfast, a crabs benedict, a salad and a soup. After patiently waiting for 30 mins while we saw other people around us being served, i inquired how much longer it would take. Her response was all my other tables haven't been served either with no apology or acknowledgment she simply said it would be 10 more mins. We did not even get the soup or salad. We waited another 20 mins and called her out when every single person who came after us got their food. We said we would leave and she still did not apologise or show any remorse she said "ya thats fine ill cancel your order then". She was definitely RACIST.
