We recently moved to the area and decided to give Jax Diner a try--what a great find! The coffee came out strong and bold, just how I like it. My favorite dish had to be the omelet--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The French toast was spot-on, golden on the outside and soft on the inside. I'd recommend ordering the sausage gravy on the side; it's a little greasy, but the flavor is absolutely worth it. The potatoes were another highlight--crispy and seasoned just right. The diner itself isn't huge, but that adds to the cozy, welcoming feel. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, which really sealed the deal for us.

Would love to try again sometime, but they unfortunately don't post their updated or edited hours anywhere. Drove all the way here because there were no special labor day hours on their website, instagram, or phone voicemail (tried to call a couple times) just to find a piece of paper taped to their door saying closed....Disappointing!

Burrito

Great customer service but so worth the wait. Pretty small inside seating so keep that in mind, there might be a wait. Ordered brunch burger, blueberry pancake, and burrito. Everything was flavorful, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Give this place a go!

Watched my kid play a youth sports game down the street and after I searched local breakfast this place popped up. When I pulled up I saw a trailer and thought what was I thinking. I walked in and saw it was a restaurant style diner which was pretty cool looking. The kitchen right in front of the bar so you can see everything being cooked. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and hash brown due to the time I had available. I wasn't expecting much but boy was I surprised. The everything bagel was so flavorful it was amazing. The hash browns had a perfect hint of seasoning. My kid had hand battered fresh chicken tenders. The fires were hand cut. I wish this place wasn't so far away or I would go multiple times a week!

A standard, run of the mill diner. Service was friendly, seating area was spacious, and they have stools at the counter if you're eating alone. The one thing I did like is that they offered chorizo as one of the breakfast meats. The breakfast potatoes were fine, and the omelette was typical. Prices were moderate.

The Eagles Nest

This is an absolute GEM! We were a party of two and were a little worried about finding a quick table since this place is so tiny when we stopped in for a Sunday breakfast. We were seated immediately! This is a place for small groups (2s and 3s), anything larger might expect a bit of a wait. They do have some outdoor seating for the summer. We got the Eagles Nest (eggs Benedict with corned beef hash), the Workin' Man (eggs, biscuits, and sausage gravy), and split a pancake. I have been dreaming about these sausage and biscuits since I ate them because they were so buttery and amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough! We ordered a plain pancake but the kitchen accidentally made their special pumpkin. They were going to remake it for us but we said we were happy to have that one. It was packed with spices and very tasty. The servers were all lovely and welcoming. I absolutely LOVED this place. We live across the state but we will make the trip to be back, it's worth it!

Breakfast was Delicious.

Pleasant environment and the smell of deliciousness. The staff were extremely polite and efficient with service. The cook should be on Hell's Kitchen. It was something to watch. Every place I seen make I wanted to try. I should gotten one of those giant pancakes. Go there, you won't be disappointed or hungry after you're done.

Hall of fame sandwich - breakfast crunch wrap.

Home of an all time breakfast sandwich. The breakfast crunch wrap is easily in top 1% of breakfast sandwiches out there. Service was great! Great experience and great environment. all around! Highly recommend.

Have visited twice now - once to dine in and another to get takeout. The food is very good! Excellent diner food. Their pancakes are PHENOMENAL. The portions of meat are generous and the bagels are good quality. I didn't love their iced tea (too bitter for my taste) or their home fries (plain fried potatoes, no seasonings). It's a bit more expensive than other places. The restaurant is small and appears to only accommodate one larger party at a time. Service was very friendly both visits!

Walking in to this small cozy place, we were greeted promptly and everyone was super friendly and kind! Our server was so sweet! The menu looked really great- some very creative options and something for most. I ordered the garden omelet with egg white- to be honest, I was a little disappointed- it was overwhelmed with vegetables and hardly any egg white. The potatoes were really good. My son was really happy with his fluffernutter French toast- he even shared a bite with me- it was definitely nostalgic from the peanut butter and fluff sandwiches we had growing up! Also- side note- please fix the pothole in the drive through area in front of the front door... my son fell while walking out and I wouldn't want anyone else getting hurt.

Within the last year or so they redid inside and made it hip and cozier inside. On my most recent visit I tried the peppermint creme brûlée latte and it was delicious and also got the breakfast burrito in a bowl. It was very filling and delicious. Service is usually pretty good. Something to note is the kitchen closes earlier than closing hours, so if you're planning on grabbing food make sure you give yourself enough time.

Hats off to those hearty and determined folks serving food to us! Kaffeology delivered the goods, short and simple. Seems to be a chain at this point, oweing to the number of spots they have operating - that is NOT a bad thing in this case. A lovely little spot, squeaky clean and cute, pleasant service and yummy brunch offerings. I had the chourico hash bowl and it hit on all points: hot, flavorful, a beautiful mix of parts leading to a pretty and delicious whole. The latte was spot on as well. I didn't catch the name of the young woman who was running the counter; she is to be commended for perfect morning service. Unlike last night's dinner at a chatty, happening bar, I look for easy-going and efficient service during the breakfast hours and she nailed it. Thanks to her and the person cooking as well. So Kaffeology is a good spot here in Portsmouth - check it out!

I usually get the Roast beef hero and perhaps if I had done that it would've been 5 stars but I did go off on a culinary adventure and tried the lobster BLT. Our initial service wasn't the best...the young lady at the front mistakenly entered our coffee orders as iced. When we mentioned they were supposed to be hot as ordered, she rolled her eyes, which felt a little unnecessary, especially since we caught it right away and it was an easy fix. Thankfully, the rest of the staff completely shifted the experience. Everyone else was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made a big difference. The vibe was exactly what you want in a café...cozy, relaxed, and perfect for catching up, working, or enjoying a slow morning. The food was definitely the highlight. I loved the BLT! It was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. The vanilla chai was good. My son was obsessed with the ham and cheese croissant, which is always a win for a mom outing. Overall, a great spot with delicious food and a nice café atmosphere. One service moment kept it from being a full 5 stars, but I'd absolutely come back and recommend giving it a try.
