Food was gourmet. I had the stuffed French toast with berries. Not too sweet but creamy and the strawberries were so flavorful. My husband got the little rig breakfast. The pancake was fluffy, bacon crisp and smoky. Deep fried potatoes were outstanding. Bravo chef Mike!
We recently moved to the area and decided to give Jax Diner a try--what a great find! The coffee came out strong and bold, just how I like it. My favorite dish had to be the omelet--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The French toast was spot-on, golden on the outside and soft on the inside. I'd recommend ordering the sausage gravy on the side; it's a little greasy, but the flavor is absolutely worth it. The potatoes were another highlight--crispy and seasoned just right. The diner itself isn't huge, but that adds to the cozy, welcoming feel. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, which really sealed the deal for us.
You may know this from earlier reviews, but in case not, I'm on a search for the world's best biscuits and gravy. Until yesterday morning, the holder of that title was 3 Monkeys in Richmond, Virginia. That title changed hands at the bar at Jax Diner yesterday in Middletown, RI. The man running the food, I think his name is John (my apologies if memory fails me!), is a force, in both a physical and epicurean sense. He towers o er the grill with a presence and makes the best sausage gravy I have ever tasted, and that is saying something. I practically ignored everything else on that considerable plate of food because I didn't dare leave a scrap of the biscuit and gravy! It's that good. Title worthy good. It's made to order too - yup, you heard that right. When I sat down and told the server that this was my first time there, the local guy to my left chuckled and said, without looking up from his plate, "it won't be his last." When our eyes met, I saw the truth with no words exchanged, that I had found my way accidentally into the club of Jax believers, those who truly understood what makes it great there. And now I do too. Go find the secret - it's at Jax, a cool little humble diner doing great things. Enjoy!
Would love to try again sometime, but they unfortunately don't post their updated or edited hours anywhere. Drove all the way here because there were no special labor day hours on their website, instagram, or phone voicemail (tried to call a couple times) just to find a piece of paper taped to their door saying closed....Disappointing!
Stopped here on way home from Newport, RI for breakfast. AWESOME! The menu has so many great choices. Small, local diner that was absolutely a good call for food. The owner, Michael and his staff are so in tune with prepping, cooking and serving a delicious breakfast. I had a great talk with his mom who happened to be there. Another reason I stopped; my dog is named Jax! So needless to say it was a great experience all around. I even got a tee shirt and took a picture with my dog in front of their sign; Jax the dog at Jax Diner!!! Love it
Great customer service but so worth the wait. Pretty small inside seating so keep that in mind, there might be a wait. Ordered brunch burger, blueberry pancake, and burrito. Everything was flavorful, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Give this place a go!
Watched my kid play a youth sports game down the street and after I searched local breakfast this place popped up. When I pulled up I saw a trailer and thought what was I thinking. I walked in and saw it was a restaurant style diner which was pretty cool looking. The kitchen right in front of the bar so you can see everything being cooked. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and hash brown due to the time I had available. I wasn't expecting much but boy was I surprised. The everything bagel was so flavorful it was amazing. The hash browns had a perfect hint of seasoning. My kid had hand battered fresh chicken tenders. The fires were hand cut. I wish this place wasn't so far away or I would go multiple times a week!
A standard, run of the mill diner. Service was friendly, seating area was spacious, and they have stools at the counter if you're eating alone. The one thing I did like is that they offered chorizo as one of the breakfast meats. The breakfast potatoes were fine, and the omelette was typical. Prices were moderate.
This is an absolute GEM! We were a party of two and were a little worried about finding a quick table since this place is so tiny when we stopped in for a Sunday breakfast. We were seated immediately! This is a place for small groups (2s and 3s), anything larger might expect a bit of a wait. They do have some outdoor seating for the summer. We got the Eagles Nest (eggs Benedict with corned beef hash), the Workin' Man (eggs, biscuits, and sausage gravy), and split a pancake. I have been dreaming about these sausage and biscuits since I ate them because they were so buttery and amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough! We ordered a plain pancake but the kitchen accidentally made their special pumpkin. They were going to remake it for us but we said we were happy to have that one. It was packed with spices and very tasty. The servers were all lovely and welcoming. I absolutely LOVED this place. We live across the state but we will make the trip to be back, it's worth it!

Every place I seen make I wanted to try. I should gotten one of those giant pancakes. Go there, you won't be disappointed or hungry after you're done.

The portions of meat are generous and the bagels are good quality. I didn't love their iced tea (too bitter for my taste) or their home fries (plain fried potatoes, no seasonings). It's a bit more expensive than other places. The restaurant is small and appears to only accommodate one larger party at a time. Service was very friendly both visits!
Likely driven past a hundred times, yet had not been in until today when coworker met for quick meal. With slight lunch rush there was a bit of a hustle and bustle vibe going on, but service was friendly and swift. Whether you want to sit at the bar, table for two, four or more, this is a great little diner to enjoy a breakfast or lunch meal. Placed order, being it was raining felt like a soup day for me and boy it was tasty!! Coworker swears no bad food to be had here and will be back to sample some of the rest of the menu items along with the amazing service! Don't be like Dave and just drive by, stop in and enjoy a mouthwatering meal!! read more
Happened to be in the area recently so I stopped in for breakfast. I got the "not so special" with wheat toast and sausage. The place wasn't terribly busy and the staff were on point. You can watch them make your breakfast right from the counter. The food was pretty good - huge portions to be honest so come hungry. The sausage is made in house and I found it to be a bit dry, would probably go with the bacon or ham next time. Great value though for $12 Very clean cozy little breakfast spot. Would have given 5 stars but for two things - the sausage wasn't amazing and the parking lot is really really sketchy to get in and out of. People are flying through that school zone at like 60+ mph read more
The service was top notch. For a small dining room there was enough staff to keep things moving. I ate at around 10:30 on a Sunday morning and it was starting to slow down. When I arrived it was a wait out the door. I'd say anytime after 11:00 on Sunday is better than arriving before that. I hadn't been here since the place used to be Cindy's Country Cafe (which I brought all visiting friends and family to for brunch). This meal was fine, food was fine. Stopped here on way home from Newport, RI for breakfast. AWESOME! The menu has so many great choices. Small, local diner that was absolutely a good call for food. The owner, Michael and his staff are so in tune with prepping, cooking and serving a delicious breakfast. I had a great talk with his mom who happened to be there. Another reason I stopped; my dog is named Jax! So needless to say it was a great experience all around. I even got a tee shirt and took a picture with my dog in front of their sign; Jax the dog at Jax Diner!!! Love it read more

Home of an all time breakfast sandwich. The breakfast crunch wrap is easily in top 1% of breakfast sandwiches out there. Service was great! Great experience and great environment. all around! Highly recommend. read more

Walking in to this small cozy place, we were greeted promptly and everyone was super friendly and kind! Our server was so sweet! The menu looked really great- some very creative options and something for most. I ordered the garden omelet with egg white- to be honest, I was a little disappointed- it was overwhelmed with vegetables and hardly any egg white. The potatoes were really good. My son was really happy with his fluffernutter French toast- he even shared a bite with me- it was definitely nostalgic from the peanut butter and fluff sandwiches we had growing up! Also- side note- please fix the pothole in the drive through area in front of the front door... my son fell while walking out and I wouldn't want anyone else getting hurt. read more

We loved having breakfast at Jax Diner this morning! The food was incredible. We loved eating at Cindy's Country Cafe before it became Jax Diner. Everything was fantastic- cinnamon crunch French toast, breakfast burrito, omelet with GF bread, and bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich. Can't wait to go back and try the breakfast crunch wrap! Huge hit for the whole family! read more

This is our second time coming to the newly rebranded diner near our house. It's difficult sometimes to stand out from some of the other breakfast places around town. Service here is great, staff is very attentive. The restaurant can be a little noisy at times, which when you're just waking up can be a lot to handle! The restaurant must've had some feedback, because their potatoes used to be underwhelming, but this second trip they are light and crispy and certainly above average. Additionally, we highly recommend the gut buster omelette! The gravy really helps the dish standout. read more
