It was simple and tasty, and I was lucky enough to get a couple bites! I went with the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, which was also simple, but packed with flavor. It had all the obvious ingredients with the addition of pickles, which added such a nice briny little punch and really hit the spot. Something worth noting: both of our items were ordered from the laminated menu at the register, not in the beautiful leather-bound Aurora Bar menu, which appears to be an evening menu with cocktails and other tasty food items. For drinks, I went with an espresso tonic; the slight bitterness of the quinine plays really nicely against the bold espresso, and it's one of those combinations that's refreshing in a way that's hard to explain until you try it. One small note for the team: the Riverside location has always had a real warmth and cohesion to the staff that I haven't quite felt at Bristol. I believe her name was Nancy and she was extremely attentive. I had gotten about half way through my Hall of fame chowder when I pulled a shard of glass from my mouth, after taking a bite. I checked my martini glass and there were no chips or missing glass so I knew that it came from the bite of chowder I had just taken. I politely informed my waitress who was overly apologetic and she notified the manager who approached the table a couple minutes later. He did apologize but managed to downplay the situation, almost acting as though it was not the restaurants fault. He informed me that they removed the soup and 1 martini from my bill, which I thanked him for. As we were leaving, I tried to say goodbye to the manger but he WOULD NOT make eye contact with me. I cannot recall if he did actually say goodbye but I had made eye contact with him as we were walking toward the front so he was aware that we were leaving. For me, it wasn't about what they could do for me- removing items from the bill or providing a gift card etc., it was the managers response to the entire situation that truly disappointed me. Overall, I find most of the menu and drinks to be overpriced. The location and restaurant itself is beautiful but the service in general is inconsistent (though my waitress on this day was by far the best I have had in the 15-20 times I have been). I can only hope that they did not continue to serve that batch of their hall of fame chowder to other patrons. Due to the managers lack of concern and overall disposition I would not return to this restaurant. The sign of a great restaurant, is having staff that are not only concerned with their customers satisfaction but most importantly, taking pride in the quality of the products they are serving.
