We had a great time here and it was so refreshing to see a reasonably priced place in Newport, ha! It's a cozy little cafe which limited seating. They allowed our dog inside which was lovely. My husband made his own sub with chicken and loved it, specifically the bread. I had iced coffee and an avocado toast plus egg which was lovely. Definitely putting this on our must-visit list if we return!

Nasty sandwich! I came here to use my RI Food Fights coupon for their "The BBQ" sandwich which sounded so good ($10). I was a little disappointed when the cashier said I could only get their "best" sandwich, their Italian, but hey I'll give it a shot. I unwrapped the sandwich and I knew right away it was not going to taste good. The worst part was the bread. It was dense, wet, tasted frozen or just a bad recipe. The meats had a dull color and they didn't put in the best cuts. They were super low quality, like they bought them at Stop & Shop or Walmart. Definitely are not making their own meats in-house. Let the real Italians in the Providence area make Italian Grinders. Who knows, maybe The BBQ sandwich would have been inferior as well.

This place is so great. The prices are good and the staff is amazing. I went in and got a few sandwiches for lunch today, including just a plain turkey and cheese. Every single thing about this place is the best, and we can't wait to come back. The inside is a little small so next time I may get it taken to go, so that I can sit at another table inside, but the inside overall is very cute, just not a lot of seating. Everyone that works there is so nice and the food is so good. The barbecue sandwich was amazing. Their bread is the bomb, which is why we keep going back. Not even joking. We've been there twice this week. Nothing better than a good sub.

I recently went to Newport with my mom to checkout the Elephant Structures on Salve University's campus. When we were done checking those out we decided that we were hungry for some lunch. I suggested Marco's Cafe because about 2 months earlier, I was in Newport and drove past it. So I made note of it and have wanted to go back since. This was a perfect opportunity to go, which I must say, did NOT disappoint at all. It was worth the wait of a couple of months. It's really cute because Marco's Cafe is right on Spring Street in this more residential neighborhood of Newport, so it kind of blends in. There really isn't much to Marco's Cafe is in being quite honest with you. There's an order counter, a cooler with drinks, a few chairs and a little coffee bar. Then obviously the kitchen in the back, which you can low key look into. The vibes of Marco's Cafe are really really cute though. Cute, homey and casual. Anyway, the menu isn't super big. They offer sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza and drinks and some desserts but nothing crazy. The prices are also very reasonable too. So what did I get? Well, I saw that the New Yorker is a popular choice so I went with it and got it. It was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It comes with "breaded chicken, prosciutto, lettuce, roasted red pepper, provolone, oil & vinegar, oregano served on Marzilli's homemade bread" The part of the sandwich that stood out to me was the roasted red peppers... I've never had such tasty and delicious roasted red peppers. When I think of roasted red peppers, this is what I think of. They tasted sweet, but with a chary and smoky taste. Again, that's what I think of when I think of roasted red peppers. I've never had roasted red peppers that tasted like this. Everything about the sandwich was incredible though. Everything tasted fresh and especially the bread too. Which tasted and had the texture of fresh bread. The oil & vinegar was a nice compliment to everything on the sandwich as well. To mention the service of Marco's Cafe, it was decently fast. There were a few orders ahead of us, but even then we didn't wait for a super long time. The people working there were also really friendly too. In terms of eating there, there is one table on the inside and there are two benches on the outside. But too be honest, for the part of Newport that it's in, you could just walk to Fishermen's Wharf and eat your sandwich down there. Or you could walk to Aquidneck Park which is where me and my mom ate our sandwiches. Overall, I would 100% go back to Marco's cafe if I'm craving a sandwich when in Newport. And I highly highly suggest you give it a try too! I again had the New Yorker, but I'm sure any of their sandwiches are delicious!

We were looking for a quick lunch spot near downtown Newport and found this place on Yelp! They have breakfast, soups, salads, and sandwiches. Despite their website saying they serve breakfast all day, I tried to order a breakfast sandwich and was told it was too late in the day to get breakfast. Instead, I went with a build-your-own sandwich. I got tuna salad and had them add tomatoes and arugula (the didn't have regular lettuce). The sandwich was served on a hoagie roll and came out cut in half but both halves were huge! I could only finish one half of the sandwich. The tuna salad was quite good, there was enough on the sandwich to still have the tuna be the primary taste instead of all the bread. It was filling and satisfied my craving for some tuna salad. Prices were affordable and food was served within 10-15 mins. Parking was easy, there is street parking right out front. The inside is small (only 1 table for indoor dining) and I did not see a public restroom. This was a pretty good spot for lunch but I wish they actually did serve breakfast all day as some of their breakfast sandwiches sounded great!

More people in Newport need to know about this new Marco's cafe!!! I was visiting from NYC for the weekend, and always make it my mission to find my boyfriend the best sandwiches in the places we visit. Even with minimal reviews for Marco's, I knew we had to try it based on how good the menu looked. We came in a Sunday morning and it was pretty quiet, so we got our sandwiches fast. The menu had plenty of delicious options for both breakfast plates/sandwiches and lunch sandwiches, or you could also make your own sandwich which is a great option. I went with The Patriot and was able to add some Proscuitto to my liking, and my boyfriend got The Buffalo. They were super accommodating with any modifications requested, and the sandwiches were DELICIOUS!! There's a little indoor and outdoor seating so we were able to enjoy them fresh, and we're so glad we did. Very delicious and fresh, and the perfect size! I hope this place gets some more people in because it deserves to grow amongst all the delicious cafe options in Newport. 10/10 recommend!

We called at 8am for a 6 Sami order and they got it done in 10 minutes. The samis are absolutely incredible! Each ingredient is so fresh. Wish we lived here so we could return. Thanks Marcos cafe team!!

It definitely has the little clam shack vibes that makes the experience feel even more authentic. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered a clam chowder cup and a hot lobster roll. I don't know if it was because I was there in the winter, but the lobster roll was generally affordable, running you only a bit over $27 which is almost unheard of these days. And they didn't skimp out on the meat too ! The lobster roll was filled to the brim and so delicious. The clam chowder was also incredible. I also love that they have a little market in case you want to make any of their seafood at home ! Will definitely become a staple when I come back to visit my parents.

Must say, things are a bit "neat" and protocol/rule based and that is not entirely in a positive way. It's more like a cafeteria with strict rules rather than a family friendly restaurant. Must order before being seated, forks are handed to you in a prepackaged sets based on the number of parties, no reserving seats, some tables are specified for parties of 4 or 5 members, etc. Unsure. But it seemed more like a strict military protocol rather than somewhere to just come in and enjoy the fresh seafood! Saw one customer, party of two, being told to move to the other table since they have only two people. It's like, those seats would not even be filled up during their time there. Understand the strict rules, but some flexibilities might make sense in such scenario... rather than following the strict protocol, don't you think? Two sets of automatic paper towels roller in each of the male and female restroom. Now, that was a good thing, and presumably to ensure customers would always have one ready when the other is broken or runs out. But that's a bit anal.
