We were…read morehighly recommended by a wonderful and intelligent young woman to try this spot for Breakfast if we are in Newport! We took her advice and yes this place was quaint, inviting and very busy but it was a holiday in A historic Newport! We waited briefly to sit outdoors in the bright morning sun which was very close to the 12 O'Clock time! We did sit for a long while before being approached even for coffee or welcoming us but we all understood it was busy for 1 to handle maybe 7 tables that were filled! But, at some point I had to get up and go inside to politely say we had been waiting longer than one should expect! A moment or two our waitress came to take our beverage order and then after enjoying our coffee she came to take our Breakfast order, I chose the Holiday Special Omelette, which were two listed! The Shrimp and Prosciutto Omelette with Avocado sounded Amazing so that was my Choice! We all ordered! When it all arrived we took photos of each and they all looked very tasty! Anticipating my breakfast I delved into my Omelette and ate a bite and it was very tasty, took another bite still very tasty.....I paused and wondered " Where is the Shrimp and Prosciutto and Avocado?" I told my family member, I don't see either, we joked she said "maybe it's chopped... ". So, I flagged the waitress and asked her if this is what I ordered and she said, " She made a mistake thinking there were only one Special Omelette and apologized and will have one made immediately! I said Ok, she left and we joked about the Staff and then THE OMELETTE ARRIVED! It was spectacular looking and even better tasting! Unfortunately, my family already finished but it was OK! We sat still enjoying more coffee and then without being aware accidentally spilled coffee on my families slacks but we chose NOT to mention it! It was obviously this Waitress should have had additional help to take care of the outside guests! She was polite and did her best but she was overwhelmed! She brought the Check and she did mention she would remove my Omelette from the Bill as a courtesy for the error! That was acceptable and nice of this Cafe to do that! The Food was Excellent The Location outside was Nice The Service was a comedy of errors! The Day was Still wonderful!

Seafood is on the menu and we started with two stuffies or stuff quahogs and a clam cakes appetizers. Probably too much fried out of the gate but when in Rome... The clam cakes were individual and easier for sharing and were my fav between the two. Stuffie was for old times sake. Had the lobster roll, one of three on a New England vacation. Came with fries. Tasty of course but I think I prefer my bun toasted and the lobster meat in larger pieces rather than chopped up as is the case here. Best was the company catching up with old friends. Less experienced wait staff but it is the summer and these kids need jobs. We were all patient and super upbeat kids working hard to do a good job.

Also, it was a Wednesday, and Tickets had a "wings for a dollar" deal on Wednesdays. Neither of us wanted a big meal - just a couple of appetizers - so we headed over there. We were told to seat ourselves, which we did. Someone brought us menus, left, and never returned. We sat there for 20 minutes, when I finally went to the bar and asked if we could order. Someone (his name was Mason, and he was very nice) came by and took our orders. We ordered chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, and we each ordered a drink. I had wine, so nothing can really go wrong there. My partner ordered a margarita. He said it was so watered down, he wouldn't recognize it as a margarita at all. He ordered a second drink (rum & coke, I think), and said the same thing. Watery. He said they were the worst drinks he'd ever gotten. The wings were good. The mozzarella sticks were shaped more like mozzarella burgers, but they were tasty with marinara sauce on the side. If we were to return to Newport, we'd try somewhere else. The service and drinks were disappointing.

The ocean view made an already pleasant morning even more enjoyable. As someone who prefers a lighter breakfast, I was thrilled to find avocado toast and several other options that fit exactly what I was looking for. We started with two iced coffees, and I appreciated that they offered almond milk as a dairy-free alternative. I ordered the avocado toast, which is served on a pita rather than traditional bread. Topped with cucumber, tomato, and olives, it was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect light breakfast. My husband ordered an omelet and said it was fantastic. His only suggestion would be a larger portion of the breakfast potatoes, but otherwise he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The service was quick, accommodating, and very friendly throughout our visit. Between the beautiful setting, delicious food, and attentive staff, this was a wonderful breakfast experience. We can't wait to come back and try some of their lunch offerings. Highly recommend

My husband ordered the GYRO PITA, which had grilled gyro meat, peppers, tomato, onion & tzatziki sauce, and I ordered an EGGPLANT PITA, which had fresh mozzarella, feta, grilled eggplant & olive oil, sitting open face on some grilled pita bread. We swapped half of our sandwiches, so we could each try the other's. We both liked the gyro pita a little more than mine (the eggplant), but make no mistake, they were BOTH GREAT. His was just a little bit better... so he told me afterward he was sorry he gave up his half sandwich... even though he liked the eggplant. I understood... but was secretly glad I got his half cuz it was really good. : ) We spoke with the owners, who were very nice. They asked us to come back, and while we said we would... and had every intention to do so cuz the food was so good, we just ran ourselves out of time. I was thinking we could get there for breakfast the next day, but it never happened... so for me, that just means we'll have to make good on the deal and get back to Newport (someday) and get that breakfast !! Too bad we live 3,000 miles away. It might take us awhile.

Lastly, we paid our bill and then the waitress said oh wait I forgot to add your drinks to the check. This was funny because she forgot our drink water, and I had to go up and order our drinks, but yet she did remember at the last second to add them on which was too funny. The food was nothing special, but overall satisfactory. What you really are paying for is the ambience and the view out to the ocean.

As noted above we have eaten here in the past. We have dined with large as well as small groups and have always been pleased. The place is beautiful, especially in the summer. The outdoor patio bar boasts a great view of Green End Pond. A great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. We started out on the patio and returned later for dinner. Based on our sub par experience the night before (see prior review) I was committed to having a great meal. We were not disappointed. I started with the clam chowder. Delicious. Flavorful and loaded with clams. My wife opted for the lobster bisque In an effort to negate the lousy lobster bisque she had on the previous night. Mission accomplished. She described it as buttery and creamy. Essentially the perfect bisque flavor. Contained within the bisque was a tremendous chunk of delicious lobster meat . For dinner, I chose the baked stuffed shrimp. It was delicious. Cooked to perfection with delicious stuffing, rice, pilaf, and broccoli. My only complaint is that I believe there should be more than 4 shrimp at this price. My wife selected the Pasta Bolognese. A dish that she has had and several other restaurants in several states and she ranked this right at the top of the list. Plenty of beef and pork combined with a tasty Italian sauce. When in the Newport area I suggest you skip the over hyped restaurants and head to Johnny's for a delicious meal with great atmosphere.

Waitstaff is kind and dutiful. Food is beyond delicious. I started off with their onion rings, which were one of their specials today. Perfectly crispy and tasty without excess grease. It came with a special "Outback" sauce, which tasted like a spicy version of thousand island dressing sans pickles; it was quite delicious. Rings were good with or without the sauce. For my main course, I got the Plumby's Crispy Chicken BLT. This sandwich is full of flavor. Like the onion rings, the chicken was fried to perfection and not overly greasy. Vermont cheddar and bacon add a savory richness and the chipotle mayo had just the right amount of spice. I couldn't taste the tomato and arugula much so this sandwich is a good way to help you eat your veggies. I also got a side of garlic mashed potatoes which were creamy, garlicky and buttery. This place has been in Newport forever because their food is consistently satisfying. I didn't get the following dish today but I also recommend their baked stuffed shrimp.
