This is a great local breakfast spot with a lot of variety of healthy bowls, sandwiches, wraps, bagels and lots of smoothie/coffee options. Place was busy but we were able to snag a table. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the bagel sandwich with sausage egg cheese bacon and hash brown. This was a filling sandwich. I had their lilikoi smoothie and this was very refreshing in the morning! Highly recommend this smoothie and the breakfast sandwich. Would definitely come back to try some other items!
#48 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES Came here more so for their Erewhon dupe smoothies and decided to get the sunbent smoothie. It was a mix of dragon fruit, coconut, and mango. Very aesthetic and refreshing! I was hoping it was going to be more sweet (not because of added sugar) but because of the fruits, however it was a little too tart. My partner however got their mocha and it was delicious! My uncle also equally enjoyed his oat milk latte. Overall, they have a very large space to study/chat in, plus lots of drink and food options.
Came here around 10 AM and there was a super long line!!! my 4 stars goes towards the food, the egg sammy was really good! The coffee (banana caramel latte) was lacking a little bit though, and didn't really have much flavor. Would definitely go back, but would order a different flavor of coffee!
Amazing service! Everyone was so nice. The vibes were high. Really cute shop. The food was all really tasty as well. So good we went twice in 1 day!
A cute subterranean spot for coffee, smoothies and food. I just stopped in for an iced americano and a flat white and both were solid. Given the line out the door, the staff were friendly and patient and quick get the beverages prepared.
Drift was definitely on the expensive side, but worth it for the experience. My husband had the iced cold brew with caramel and oat milk, and it was excellent. The kids enjoyed bacon, egg, and cheese bagels along with water served in aluminum cans, which was a nice touch. I had a chai latte that was a little lukewarm, but still good. Overall, everything was very good. I loved the atmosphere, very earthy with beautiful natural wood details, and the swinging seats were a huge hit with the kids!
After arriving via the Providence Newport Ferry, we were looking for a place to grab some breakfast. We checked our Yelp map and wandered around the area, looking for a good venue. We drifted across the street to the Drift Cafe, and once we finally found the correct entry (downstairs using the right side of the restaurant) we entered this popular and somewhat eclectic little cafe. It wasn't easy finding an open table, the venue is small, and Drift is popular. We ordered a breakfast sandwich and all day breakfast plate, which took about 10 to 15 minutes to arrive. Both of which were hot and tasty. We'd be delighted to return here.
Good food and quick service Good atmosphere and a nice spot to relax and sit while having a drink. They won't rush you out, you can take your time. Do go early to avoid the line. I recommend the iced Turkish latte
Went yesterday and picked up 2 sunset bowls and a Caprese chicken salad. All wonderful! 3 happy customers!
Solid cafe in Newport. On Thames street so very busy and parking can be tough. I came on a Thursday around 11:30 am and it was packed. There was a line to order. I ordered ahead online and my food was ready earlier than it said it would be so I would recommend doing that if you come here. Great menu, lots of aesthetic smoothies and coffee drinks. Healthy options. I got the bagel sandwich with egg and avocado and added a hash brown. Sandwiches are really customizable. It was good, avocado was perfectly ripe. Ingredients tasted fresh. I probably wouldn't add the hash brown next time (1.80$) because it wasn't crispy and kind of just tasted like potatoes. Not overly priced though. Sandwhich was (10.80$) with the addition I made. Employees are really nice here. Super cute inside. Couches and swinging chairs. Nice place to hang out and enjoy some food and drinks. Would definitely want to try their coffee next time.
Drift cafe rocks! Excellent selection of smoothies, coffees and bowls. Got the blueberry recovery and was so so good! My girlfriend and friend got the other pictured so aesthetically pleasing and they both loved them as well. Place was clean, pet friendly, and the workers were kind as well especially with a line almost always out the door. Do keep in mind it is Newport so you will pay a little more but honestly was really good and would come back.
Have been here a few times now for coffee and it's always good. I love this cafe---it's the cutest one in Newport for sure! I'm so happy they expanded; i think the larger space suits them well! Their viral smoothie didn't disappoint. It was very yummy! I have loved everything I've had from here! Service is great. The girls here are always super helpful!

Coffee: 9/10 Oats and honey coffee was scrumptious but not too sweet, and the banana bread latte was a yummy treat. Service: 10/10 Extremely kind staff that changed my drink after ordering, without any hassle. Ambiance: 8/10 Cute seating areas, with decent natural light. Bathroom read more
22nd September 2026 Thames Street Newport, RI Sunny chilly 64°F We enjoyed this popular Café more than once for their delicious fresh satisfying breakfast sammies, and creative smoothies & coffee menu. There was a line whenever we went which is a good problem to have. Service with a smile. Plus, everyone wished me "Happy birthday" - after hubby pleasantly informed the staff. Thank you!! read more

We came in here for a quick drink. I got the mango matcha and it was very good. The service fast and the menu looked great. They have a lot of seating options which was surprising because it looked like a small cafe from the outside. read more

Really quaint little spot on Thames, great for a quick, healthy breakfast. The Tidal Wave Twist tastes like ice cream! read more
Food was awesome! Service was awesome. You get your food quickly. The space was very clean for being very busy they get people in & out quickly and clean up after very quickly as well. But no one who comes is rushed it's very chill. I do think the items were very pricy for what you get in my honest opinion. But other than that I loved the place and it was a nice spot to visit on my trip to Road Island read more
Nice vibes, tasty food and good service. Would definitely come back. Especially to try more of the breakfast bowls. I tried the good morning wrap which was also delicious. Also the food came out very fast! They also have a wide variety of smoothies and some seasonal specials you may have to go in to see. read more

Mother of Dragons: Their plating is so beautiful! The coconut-chia pudding was absolutely delicious. All of the ingredients tasted fresh. Sunset Bowl: The maple-almond butter was so good. I'm drooling just thinking of it. The interior of this place is awesome. Well-lit, plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor, well-decorated. read more

We did a portion of the cliff walk on a Saturday morning and then went into town to grab lunch. Parking was a beast but we found a spot after a little bit of driving. All this too go to drift Cafe because of the good reviews. We would have almost missed it until we did a double take because the m Cafe is ground level and not easy to spot. You order at the register and they bring the food to you. We got three bowls and a drink, the strawberry guava lemonade. The drink was super refreshing. You couldn't taste the guava much but it was lemony. I asked for less ice but we got plenty lol. Out of the bowls, the farmer's scramlet was tasty. We asked for some hot sauce and that elevated it. The good stuff and Malta were ok. The dressing for the good stuff was quite thick, almost like a cream cheese texture so it's hard to mix in with the other ingredients. For the Malta, the biggest issue was the brown rice we received which must have been from the bottom of the cooker, because it was rock hard. We hurt our teeth a few times before we spoke to the staff. They were nice enough to suggest options such as making us a fresh bowl or getting us some rice on the side. I appreciated the staff's understanding and kindness. So overall, solid 4 stars. Next time though, I'll focus on the breakfast bowls. I think they're the real deal! read more
A lovely local breakfast place in Downtown Newport. The food is always consistent and delicious. They serve smoothie bowls and other breakfast options. It is on the pricier side for the portion/size, but you are paying for quality ingredients and it is the only place of its type in the immediate area. Service is quick. You order at a counter, then grab a seat. There are only a few spots to sit - and most folks eat then leave to make room for new diners. I would not recommend as a "sit and hang out" type of place. read more
