Chocolate pistachio latte and Black cherry latte - Two iced coffee drinks with swirled cream and chocolate syrup are on a white outdoor table. The drinks are in clear plastic cups with lids and straws. Behind the table, a cafe window features handwritten menu boards listing items such as Greek salad, burger, croissant, and fruit tarts. The window has a yellow frame, and a wicker chair is partially visible nearby.

Solid spot. My boyfriend and I came for a light lunch after passing by the corner cafe and seeing the long line. We shared a grilled cheese which came with cold slaw, salad, and potato salad. We also got a delicious Reese's cookie. I enjoyed the chocolate pistachio latte, the black cherry one was really good too! This cafe is also attached to a hotel. We sat outdoors. There are plenty of nice shops around too.

Picnic is on the far end of this picturesque row across from the Hotel Viking

Popped into Picnic for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of delicious baked goods and the quaint atmosphere! We were welcomed in and our questions answered as we ordered. My friends had the summer strawberry salad and I had a bowl of clam chowder (even in summer, chowder makes me happy). Their salads were lovely and portioned well. My chowder came with a ciabatta roll which was the highlight- the chowder too thin and lacked clams- the broth tasty and potatoes held, but it's not a highlight of their menu. We also grabbed a couple of their enormous cookies to go- Reese's PB Cup cookie was soft and sinful and the chocolate chip was the perfect ratio of sweet and salty. I think sandwiches and pastry are the way to go for the next visit!

One of the best pastries I've had! Everything tasted so good and fresh even at the end of the day. We came in 15 minutes before closing but ordered a variety of pastries. Each one of them were good. The peanut butter cookie, double chocolate chip cookie, blueberry muffin, strawberry cheesecake loaf, lemon cake, pain au chocolate and almond croissant! The drinks were good too but the pastries stood out the most.

Egg croissant - A baked croissant sandwich contains cooked eggs, sliced tomatoes, crispy bacon, and wilted leafy greens. The sandwich is placed on parchment paper, highlighting its fresh ingredients and baked pastry exterior.

Enjoyed the egg croissant at Picnic. The croissant was buttery and fresh. The employees were friendly and there is a cute sitting area to eat your food. No wifi or laptops allowed to encourage being present and conversation.

I stayed at Hotel Viking across the street but I gravitated to Picnic for my morning coffee and lunch. What I was most impressed with was the freshness of everything offered. The baked goods are fresh and baked on premises Soups are made on premises Nice lunch offerings They know how to use the espresso machine Picnic opens at 8? I was at the door 7:59 getting my latte. I must point out, they are many unique breakfast offerings. There are tarts with eggs baked in the middle as well as lots of savory baked item choices. I had lunch here twice, I ordered a New England Clam Chowder and Lobster Salad. A typical New England lunch, I'm sure they're serving these items in grade school with coffee milk. Rhode Island baby! My soup was amazing and came with a side of warm, freshly baked bread. My lobster salad was all lobstery, not made with fillers and was a large portion so no complaints from me. Picnic, it was a pleasure to dine at your establishment for the week.

Food: very delicious. Their pastries are delicious. We walked 15 minutes to get croissants and ended up getting bunch of other pastries. Service: this is a small place. You order at the counter and take your stuff. If you order coffee etc, they quickly bring it to your table. Value: prices are OK. They are a tad on the high side but croissants are really, really good. The place is really cute and I would highly recommend it.

What a cute and charming g little bakery and coffee spot. It is the definition of cozy as you sit surrounded by picnic baskets and Danish accents. The pumpkin latte I had was excellent. Tasted like real pumpkin and not the artificial flavoring you get. The pastries were good but tend to be on the sweeter side. My pistachio swirl was flaky and had a generous spread of pistachio frosting. There are a few tables in the back for seating as well. Worth the walk across the street if you happen to be staying at the Hotel Viking.

    The little back room.

I was hungry after walking so stopped in out of curiosity. I'm so glad I did! For a tiny place, the selection was amazing. I had a sandwich and coffee plus a slice of cake and creme brûlée croissant that I took back to the timeshare. I ate in the small back room which I had to myself and really enjoyed the ambiance, food and great service!

That Pain Au Chocolat was divine!!! The best I've had in Newport!! Like being in France again

Exceptional Service - Newport Sandwich Company…read more I cannot say enough great things about Newport Sandwich Company and the owner, Kevin Sullivan. I was out of state and wanted to surprise my daughter with a grinder platter, and Kevin truly went above and beyond to make it happen. It was a last-minute request, and Kevin still took the time to put everything together and personally deliver it. To make things even more impressive, there was a huge parade happening in town, which could have easily made delivery impossible. Instead, Kevin planned ahead and brought it earlier so he could get through the crowds and make sure my daughter still received the surprise. My daughter was so ecstatic and happy when she got it. Moments like that mean so much, especially when you're far away and trying to do something special for your child. The food was amazing, but what stood out even more was the kindness, dedication, and customer service Kevin showed. Businesses like this are what make a community special. If you're in the area, I highly recommend Newport Sandwich Company. Thank you, Kevin, for going the extra mile and making my daughter's day so special!

The interior is decorated with a pretty white-and-blue motif that is definitely fitting. It's small, and not usually crowded so we typically can choose where to sit. It's become our favorite spot to go on the weekends, over places like Atlantic grill or aquidneck pizza. It's just so much cozier, and it's women-owned, which I will always support! The food is delicious. The spanakopita is my favorite, its fluffy and perfectly cheesy while not being dense or greasy. The greek yogurt is so creamy and delicious, the bacon is both crunchy and juicy at the same time. My bf loves to get the different wraps because he tends to like a large breakfast. They have lots of options for breakfast and lunch. I also love the vanilla iced latte, I think they put some ice cream in it. It tastes amazing. If you're wondering about YiaYia's cafe, definitely come try it. I feel like lots of people think it's only for those staying at the Sea Breeze Inn, or haven't been for whatever reason. I hope everyone has the chance to come here, local or tourist!

Don't be afraid- it's just a short drive (10 minutes or so), and the Grille does have onsite parking. Even if there's a wait, don't let it deter you. The home cooked breakfast grub is truly worth it, and they turn tables pretty quickly, so you shouldn't be waiting for too long before you can sit in a comfy booth and dig into fluffy pancakes, perfect omelettes, and the best hash brown potatoes ever! The inside of the restaurant is casual, with surf inspired decor, chalkboards listing daily specials, and a full service bar with TVs broadcasting the latest game. Atlantic Grille is family friendly, so if you are looking for a chic girls brunch spot or something quiet and reserved, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for classic breakfast fare at a good price in a fun and convivial environment, this is the place to go. I love the Western Omelette with gooey cheese, crisp ham and fresh veggies, or the Eggs Benedict, which features perfectly poached eggs (kudos to the kitchen for nailing this every time). I also enjoy the fresh fruit bowl (nothing canned or sketchy), and we always have to get a Buttermilk Pancake as an appetizer (this is the "bread course!") This is a great family owned spot you'll want to add to your Aquidneck Island adventures- especially if you want to feel like a local!
