One million stars for this breakfast stop. We had the ham and cheese on a milk bun, which was delicious--but the real standout was the biscuit. I live in Charleston and this beat any Southern biscuit I've ever been served. The coffee from next door at Utility was also excellent. Fun breakfast and coffee spot! Stopped by on Sunday morning and ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich with a bun (biscuit is an option too) and an americano. Sandwich was great, americano was more of a blond/breakfast blend and would have preferred a darker roast. Sat outside on a bench and the indoor was also an option with plenty of seating. Been wanting to try Mission for a while and they knocked it out of the park. Bacon burger - toasted bun, juicy think patty, slab of seasoned bacon, sprouts. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that this burger joint does breakfast sandwiches! However, they were out of biscuits and hot coffee on the day we went. The milk bun was a great substitute. And the nitro coffee with almond milk was great! I got the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with avocado. My husband had a burger with a side of fries. I thought the sandwich was really good, and I loved the thick cut bacon and cheesy fried egg. The fries were hot and very fresh. They were perfectly salty. I was very pleased with the meal. To be fair this review is about the hot dog and fries, not the burgers. I was really excited based on reviews to try out a dog there. I ordered mine with relish, caramelized onion and mustard. The roll was fresh and warm and toasted on the top and fine. The caramelized onion was nice and sweet and golden brown. The relish was great and tasted like it was made there. That's the good, now the bad...the wiener, and BAD it was. I Can't remember a hotdog that bad. First the shape, it didn't resemble any dog I have ever seen. It was a strange brownish color and smaller in diameter than any I have eaten...and it was shaped like a brown and serve sausage, with flat ends, not twisted ends like a real sausage, Did I get a tofu hotdog by mistake? No, and tofu has more flavor. This was virtually devoid of any spice or smoke. And the texture? It was dry like damp sawdust dry...and no snap, none, zero. I don't believe it was any fault of the cook, I don't think any cook could screw up a hotdog that bad. I am leaving a generous two star rating because of how good the condiments were...and also the hand cut fries were hot and crispy and nicely salted. read more

This is officially our go-to burger spot here on island. The service is average but helpful. There is a cashier and she helps out where she can but there are no roving waiters. The scene is clean and open. There is limited seating indoors and outdoors but I've not had to fight for a seat when my family goes. I usually get the cheeseburger medium with jalapeños, their house sauce, and fries with BBQ sauce on the side! Just writing this, makes me want to go soon. The burger is always cooked perfectly. My better half is much better versed with east coast culture being from Boston, so when he introduced me to the concept of a Chicago Dog, I was skeptical. The toppings seemed too bold all at one time, and overly-messy, but I love him so I figured out what goes in one, and made my version at home. Once we moved to RI, he wanted me to have a new england style chicago dog, so he found Mission, and we went the first week we moved here. The location is super easy to find before the craziness of downtown, and is cozy and more spacious than it looks from the outside. The cashier was really friendly and personable, and made good suggestions for us on the menu. I ordered the chicago dog, he got the bacon cheese burger, and a side of fries and mission sauce, with a delicious session IPA. Can I say WOW enough??? This dog was juicy, PACKED with flavor, and so insanely good. I almost didn't want to give hubby a bite, it was that good. The hand cut fries were delicious, and perfectly cooked, as well as his burger. After eating here, i couldn't stop thinking about that relish on top of the dog, with the pickled mustard seeds, and big pickle spear. I begged hubby to go back, and this time we BOTH ordered the chicago dog. I doubt I'll be able to ever order anything else here, it's just too good to miss. With a super cute location plus a menu featuring homemade burgers, hotdogs, and fries, how could you go wrong? Mission has been a staple in the Newport food scene since 2013, and rightfully so! While their menu is somewhat limited, this is definitely a spot that focuses on quality over quantity. While Mission is known for their burgers (check out the MickeyD, their popular homage to a certain famous chain's creation), I would actually recommend ordering one of their hot dogs, particularly the Slaw Dog, featuring a flavorful, tangy mustard vinaigrette slaw with shaved carrot, cabbage, and jalapeño topping the dog on a grilled, buttery potato roll. They're actually one of the only restaurants in RI that makes their hot dogs fresh in house, and if you can't get enough of 'em, you can also buy them to make at home, along with other goodies, such as bone broth and "Mission Cuts", house cut steaks and chops. Their fries are also particularly masterful, and begin by brining the potatoes to make sure that when they are fried, they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Ask for a side of homemade "Mission Sauce" for dipping! To round out your fast food feast, don't forget to check out their selection of beer and wine, most of it locally made or from small, hip breweries around the US. Management - how about ketchup on every table instead of folks having to "borrow". You could add some coat hooks on the wall to the left of the order station for your customers' convenience.
