After an incredibly frustrating experience at the Fairfield Dick's Sporting Goods, I felt compelled…read moreto recognize an employee who truly understands customer service. I purchased a pair of softball cleats for my daughter online. Unfortunately, they ended up being too small. She wore them briefly while sitting in the dugout at practice, immediately realized they hurt her feet, and took them off. The cleats were essentially brand new. When I attempted to exchange them at the Fairfield store, I was met with resistance from management. Anna Pintane refused the return and was extremely condescending throughout the interaction. Instead of listening to my explanation, she lectured me about how cleats should be worn around the house before practice and even told me that if they didn't fit, I should sell them to a teammate or on Facebook Marketplace. I couldn't believe that was the solution being offered by a store manager. The entire interaction left me feeling dismissed and disrespected as a customer. Fortunately, I decided to try the Pleasant Hill location. What a completely different experience. Mike McKensy (store manager) was absolutely wonderful. He listened, understood the situation, treated me with respect, and promptly processed the return of the cleats that were still essentially new. He was professional, friendly, and focused on helping the customer rather than finding reasons not to. Mike turned a very negative experience into a positive one and restored some of my faith in Dick's Sporting Goods. Customer service like his is exactly what keeps people coming back. If you're shopping at Dick's, I highly recommend the Pleasant Hill store and especially Mike. He is an outstanding example of how customers should be treated. Thank you, Mike, for your professionalism and for making what should have been a simple exchange actually simple.

However, when I got to the cashier, I was told there was no discount on the ball. I politely asked to speak with the manager because the sale sign was confusing and I wanted someone to explain it. Instead of listening to my concern, the cashier, Michaela, simply said the sale applied to a different ball. Before I could explain what I was trying to say or ask another question, she walked away while I was still speaking. She said, "I already explained it to you," and left. I wasn't upset that the ball wasn't on sale--I was disappointed by how I was treated. A little patience and respect would have made a big difference. Michaela didn't try to understand my point of view and came across as very rude and dismissive. Because of this experience, I don't plan to shop at this store again.

I met Whitney in the shop area, she greeted me with a smile. I explained the reason for my visit. She advised me that the Technician was on break, then she then told me to bring my bike into the shop and someone would assist me. It was just a few minutes later, I met Hadrian. He and Whitney weren't sure how to make it fold either initially. Then, I remembered I had a manual ony phone. I showed it them. Hadrian and Whitney figured it out immediately. The next thing I knew, my bike was folded!!! He did it so fast, I barely saw what he did. It was as if he had been doing this for years. I tried and still couldn't fold it. I asked him to please show me again, he immediately obliged me. They absolutely positively unequivocally made my day! They were so welcoming, polite, courteous, personable. They provided me with outstanding customer service. REI is fortunate to have them as employees. Thank you Whitney and Hadrian for a job well done, I truly appreciate you. If anyone ever asks me to refer a Bike Shop, I guarantee it will be REI~this location.

Came in looking for camping chairs and found some that were perfect for our needs. The first guy that helped explained the membership and I knew that they must get a commission if I signed up. It was only $30 and i'd get a $30 gift card plus I'd be supporting local retail and the nice sales rep. Spent another 30 minutes shopping then headed to the register where there was a very nice young Indian girl waiting for her next customer, really slow time of the day I guess. I give her my items and the new membership slip that sales rep gave me then this is where the entire experience turned bad. She asked for my ID, asked me for my tel# entered all of my data into their system. Scanned a gift card and gave it to me, the system is processing. This whole process takes 5 minutes and she says you are already a member and I said that's not right ive never purchased anything here so she says let me try again, asked for my id tel# and types everything in again. 5 minutes later sorry u are showing as a member. OK no problem since im a member i get a 10% discount, I've been standing here for over 10 minutes im ready to leave and pay. She then says I need to see your ID one more time and I questioned her why and she says she needs to enter my information into the system and I said but you told me I was a member just ring me up so I can pay and leave and she said it wasnt that simple and she needed my information again and at this point Im annoyed and gave her my ID for the 3rd time. As she is reentering my info a white man with a Giants cap approaches and she says let me ask my manager what is the problem they start talking and we are now 15 minutes into the transaction and I give up and tell them both that this is frustrating and I change my mind and to give me my ID back. Then the manager dude says, don't talk to us that way heres your ID and you need to leave now. I got my ID and left. I found that experience #1 a waste of time #2 the manger was quick to boot me out of the store vs have any concern over my shopping experience. Was i loud, absolutely not, was i angry nope, was I annoyed yes. The manager should have recognized the customer issue and experience versus quick to point at me being the problem. But there is a happy ending to this story, after we left while having dinner I checked Amazon and found a similar chair for more than half the price on sale delivered next morning. Bottomline I always think outward, helping people, supporting local businesses but experiences like this makes me start to feel otherwise, especially when overspending is something I shouldnt be doing. REI is a cool store but ultimately Amazon will save you time and money plus the chair we got from Amazon turned out to be 100% better than the REI brand chairs we almost bought.

The right shoes--and the right guidance--can make all the difference…read more I returned to Road Runner Sports after my Nike Pegasus 42s started feeling unstable, almost like my ankle was rolling and the cushioning was off. Thanks to the VIP program, I was able to exchange them within the 90-day return window and work with Travis again. Travis is knowledgeable, patient, and great at explaining how each shoe moves and supports your foot. Based on his demonstration, I switched to the Brooks Glycerin Flex, and I'm glad I did. During a run, I stepped into a hole in the pavement, and I truly believe the stability of the shoe helped keep the injury from being much worse. Road Runner Sports is an excellent resource for runners and athletes because the staff considers your stride, foot strike, comfort, and activity level--not just the shoe's appearance. The prices are comparable to other retailers, but here you also receive expert guidance and the added protection of the VIP return policy. Congratulations to Travis and his future bride on their upcoming Halloween wedding! I definitely recommend this location.

Important: This review is specifically about Road Runner Sports' online sales and customer service…read moreexperience, not their retail stores. I'm a VIP member of Road Runner Sports, so this experience was particularly disappointing. I placed an online order in early August for a pair of shoes that were on backorder, with an expected shipping date around mid-August. From then on, the expected shipping date kept getting pushed back week after week. Each time I followed up, I was reassured that the next expected date would be honored and that my order would be prioritized once the shoes became available. Based on those assurances, I decided not to purchase the shoes elsewhere. Unfortunately, these shoes are in high demand, and by the time I found out Road Runner Sports could not fulfill my order, they were no longer available elsewhere either. Today was the latest date I had been told to expect the shoes. When they didn't arrive, I contacted customer service, only to be told that the shoes were out of stock and that my order would simply be cancelled. To be clear, my frustration is not about the cancellation itself. I understand that inventory issues happen. My frustration is with the repeated delays and assurances that led me to believe my order would eventually be fulfilled. Had I been given accurate information earlier, I could have made other arrangements and purchased the shoes elsewhere. What made the situation even more frustrating was that customer service was of very little help, and despite specifically asking to speak with a customer service manager, I was not given the opportunity to speak with one. As a VIP member and loyal customer, I expected better communication and ownership of the issue. I would have much rather been told upfront that the order could not be fulfilled than be given repeated expected dates and assurances, only to end up with a cancelled order and no shoes after waiting for more than a month. I hope Road Runner Sports takes a closer look at how it handles backordered online purchases and customer-service escalations. This experience has left me very disappointed with the online sales operation, even though this review is not a reflection of their retail stores or in-store staff.

I got fed up and one of my friends from Mexico was telling me about this store and how they have real leather cleats for a good price. I came today and the owner happened to be there, and he went out of his way to help me find the perfect cleat. He played pro in Mexico and as someone who's played competitively their whole life it was refreshing to talk to someone about cleats who actually cares and knows what they're talking about. With all of his help we decided that the Olmeca cleats were my best bet, and they had real, quality leather that was straight from Mexico. From the second I put them on I could tell how much better they were than the synthetic dogsh*t that the main name brands use, and after taking them out and getting some runs in with them, they are exactly what I'm looking for. The craziest part is that they were only 113 after tax, where most of the cleats I've gotten in the past were significantly lower quality and are upwards of 280 dollars. This store is an amazing deal, make sure to show up and support, you'll get way more out of it for less money than any other store in the area
