Came here on Saturday morning when another place was jampacked. This was pretty busy and we had to wait about half an hour. The place is very small but cozy and the menu is extensive. The staff is very friendly and service was good. I had the eggs Benedict which I have to say were done very well - Hollandaise sauce was a little light and not floppy and the eggs were done perfectly so the sauce and the yolk blended well and the English muffin was just right not too crunchy not too soggy. We also had a burrito and Belgian waffles. Note the tater tots (side) are excellent. Would come again. read more

This place gave me food poisoning last Sunday. Don't get the lemon ricotta pancakes! They might have other good things on their menu but be careful if you're thinking of eating the lemon ricotta. Oh, and the hot chocolate I ordered was overwhelmingly unimpressive. It settled gross once left alone for a while (which none of the other hot chocolates I've ever drank before did .) It's expensive for the amount that you get but the service was good from the waiters :) If you're sitting at the counter, expect to hear cursing from the cooks lol I didn't mind it but if you do, that's your heads up. read more

It's always great to see new establishment come about whenever I visit my hometown. I remember always complaining about having to drive out 20 minutes for a good brunch spot a few years back (sorry, ihop- you just don't cut it). How nice it would have been if Main Kitchen was around back then! Main Kitchen has a small, cozy interior. Very few patio seating available as well. I'm always looking for a brunch place and I'm super happy I found this one! First, not really sure if there's parking specifically for this place, I think you just kinda have to find parking nearby. Luckily, we found parking right on the corner of this place so it wasn't a walk at all, but I could see it possibly being a problem to find parking on the weekends. It's a cute little place. Actually a lot bigger than it looks when you get inside. It's got a real cozy feel to it. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was super friendly and she took our order right away too. The menu was pretty big and of course they serve breakfast all day! I saw lots of organic and made from scratch items on the menu. We ordered eggs Benedict and a short stack of pancakes. I also got an orange juice and it was pretty heavenly!! Fresh squeezed right there. I feel like my eggs Benedict could've used improvement, but I'm still giving this place five stars. I wish that the English muffins were a little more toasted and I wish that there was more hollandaise sauce. One of my eggs was also a little over cooked... my yolk was pretty hard. But I'm really not complaining because the flavors were amazing! And don't get me started on the potatoes that come with the Benedict! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The presentation of the food was really nice! Super neat. The flavor of the pancakes were so delicious. The texture was kind of thick compared to most pancakes that I've had, but they were still really good! I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu! Update: second time here and you would think this place would be packed as all other places on this street are jam packed for Sunday brunch. I hate giving bad reviews but I'm just giving my honest opinion. Ordered eggs Benedict, bread was super soggy and eggs almost raw. It was not very flavorful at all. French toast was pale and needed more cooking. Not sure if I'll be back. I'd rather wait 25-30 minutes up the street for better quality food. So sorry, I really wanted to like this place. Oh, and they served our food and we had NO silverware on the table. All other tables were set and the place was empty. Would have rated it higher if they had a better selection of coffee. We had the French toast and a breakfast sandwich. Potatoes were cooked really well. My kids devoured the food so that says a lot. Bourbon bacon banana French toast, highly recommend. Just the right sweetness not needing the additional syrup that comes with it. Will come back again definitely. First, I don't understand why you would be a restaurant server working with people if you don't enjoy it. The staff here has NEVER been inviting. I've been here at least 10 times and the service and food is inconsistent. I think after 2 visits that it will be consistent and then it's bad the next time. I want Main Kitchen Cafe to be a success. It's a great alternative to Joe's Cafe which is always crowded. But there's a reason why people don't continue down Chatsworth Avenue, it's because of Main's inconsistency. I hope management sees this and works on it immediately before our only alternative to Joe's closes. And Main isn't cheap. If you want cheap food, go to Denny's or IHOP but don't expect fresh food. read more

Stopped by Main Kitchen Cafe this am around 9am. It wasn't super busy yet and there was plenty of seating. I'm all about supporting local business so thought we would give this place a try. They had cute festive Christmas coffee mugs on every table. At a closer glance the mugs looked old, worn, chipped, stained and cracked. I wasn't super crazy about drinking out of them. Service was acceptable. Food was edible. Ordered an omelette and coffee. I asked for toast and was given three options while the table next to us was provided with more. Hmmm. Okay whatever. This was my second time here and it's sad because I remember having a good experience before so that's why I came back. I have never in my life gotten up and left a restaurant until today. This place is a joke and I cannot believe they are even up and running as an restaurant. There service was beyond terrible! It was so bad, that I didn't even get any food to comment on the food. The servers were obviously overwhelmed and it showed just by looking at them. First, we were waiting awhile and asked to sit at the counter but it was given to some couple who came a few parties after us. Then our server -- a woman who didn't even introduce herself -- ran around like a chicken with her head cut off. I was pretty hungry so as soon as we got her attention we ordered right away. I tried to be patient because they were busy but then she realized she never got the couple's order sitting next to us and then she came back to us for our order. We ordered 30 minutes ago!!!! Are you kidding?? Then 10 minutes pass and that couple gets their food. That was it, I was furious! I waved her down and was like "What is going on? did you put our order in or not" and she said "I put it in with that other couples." I almost blew up in her face so I just stormed out. I just wanted to enjoy a late breakfast with my mom on my day off but this was the worst experience ever. The nicest thing they did was bring water. The management at this place must suck because clearly they cannot tell they are understaffed and have incompetent staff. Please hire more people or train your staff better because they are rude, bad communicators, and clearly cannot handle a busy restaurant. read more

Great hidden gem, easy parking, and tasty food. They definitely know how to make a great poached egg and the ingredients are fresh. Sit at the counter and see for yourself how great of a production they run in the kitchen. I like their simple playing concepts and it's a place that makes you feel right at home. JUST NO. Food: hideous, awful excuse for breakfast/brunch food. I got the benedict and literally every part of it was wrong. The egg was overcooked (not runny), the ham was super thick cut stuff you get from Ralph's or have for Christmas dinner, the hollandaise was WATERY and tasteless, and the english muffin was soggy and soaked through with ham water. The side of homestyle potatoes was decent but there were about 9 of them. $13.75. FOR THAT. My partner got an omelette with sausage and it was tasteless, and the sausage was, again Ralph's cheap stuff. Egg wasn't fluffy but rubbery and bland. Another $13.75. Joe's this is not. Coffee was tepid diner coffee (which has its own merits) but was $3.00. Can you believe that? Not even diners in LA proper charge $3 for coffee... and if they do, they have the excuse of paying LA rent. The only decent thing was generally attentive service. But they absolutely must fire those "cooks" or call Gordon Ramsay in to fix their menu. read more

Decided to go here for breakfast after a fun weekend. Once you go in you reserve your table on their tablet unless you already have through Yelp (which I recommend you do to beat the wait). The tablet said that our table would be ready in 14-24 minutes. Don't trust the tablet!! After waiting for an hour we asked the hostess when our table would be ready and explained the tablet situation she said that the times shown on the tablet aren't accurate. Definitely wish they had a sign stating that they aren't correct. We waited another 20 minutes and finally got to our table. The orange juice is amazing definitely hand squeezed. Coffee was also good but you don't get feel refills on the coffee (or at least we weren't offered any). The food was good nothing to die for, just honestly subpar. Better than IHOP. The place had ma and pop kinda vibes. It was very cute as every mug and plate were different and unique. My boyfriend got a side of potatoes with his order and wasn't given them until he was 2/3 done with his meal. Kinda sad cause you want a side dish with your meal. Service was fine, nothing too memorable. One thing that stuck out was a server with headphones in the whole time. I don't see what all the hype is about. Not surprised by the flavor at all. The presentation of the offerings are definitely appealing but flavor wise...pass the salt and get me some hot sauce. But I paid for a meal not salt and hot sauce. Service was average and facility was below average. I have been to this cafe a few times in the past and my service was always meh. I had a horrible experience the last time I went and my waitress who was a girl was just so rude and forgot about us a few times. So I was very hesitant coming back. After my breakfast today Im way more then satisfied with the service and food I received. I believe our waitresses name was Emily and wow did she really make my experience enjoyable. She was sweet attentive and all round what made this place get back on my good list. She made great suggestions and really made it a point to make us feel important even though the place was SUPER busy. I'll definitely be coming back is she's my waitress. 5 stars goes to that employee. read more

The last time we ended up there was because the other breakfast spots around the area had long waiting times which at this point doesn't make a difference because you wait 20 minutes to sit and a minimum of 30 minutes to get your order of 2 short stack of pancakes. I am disappointed. I was craving bagels so I ordered from here. The delivery was great, on time even a tad bit earlier. But the quality of the food was horrible. My bagel was cold & stale. I asked for extra capers, didn't get any. I also asked for potato as the side for both entrees and got ugly rotten fruits instead. This is the second time I've had a complaint with this place -- first one being hairs in my food. I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and order again but I was wrong.
