I pass by this little café on Chatsworth /Balboa on my way to and from my asthma doctor 's offices and finally took the time to stop and have a bite to eat. I was greeted and seated by a lovely and friendly waitress. The atmosphere is very nice and the menu was very inviting. I wanted a small snack-like meal so I ordered my favorite go to "avocado toast" and coffee. They serve it with a tomato on top with greens in the side. You can also have it with an egg, which is how I usually have it but this time just wanted it without. They make their avocado smashed. I can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu. (I forgot to take a photo of my dish, I will have to remember that next time) I like that they serve their coffee in different mugs so you get a different one every visit! 2nd visit yesterday. Wanted someplace to chat with my friend and have breakfast & lunch options. My friend was seated already after a 15 min wait. I ordered the same thing I ordered last time but as a omelette instead of a scramble and I got home fries instead of sourdough toast. I enjoyed the omelette very much. The toppings inside were tasty. I home fries were basic, the portion seemed a little small. I covered them in ketchup. Their lemonade is homemade fresh. I love it. Small glass. No refills for $4 I do like that's it a local spot and supporting local restaurants which eases the pain of $27, includes tax/tip. But my budget may not be able to support more than once in a while. Stopped by this right after work for some classic American breakfast, saw this place had some really good reviews and had to check it out. The vibe of the restaurant was actually pretty cool, cafe style. It was actually pretty busy for 845am and had to wait a little to be seated. So we ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs, and then she got the eggs Benedict. From the start it was very much unorganized, but I commend the two young workers for doing their best. I visited this café and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I waited about 20 minutes just to be seated, and once seated, no one came to give me a menu. So good we returned twice in one week. First visit I had the breakfast burrito with chorizo in it. It was delicious. The 2nd visit I ordered the eggs benedict that had bacon in it. Definitely not my vibe. Sooo many people recommended this place. We were sat fast. The decor was nice. It looked clean. The service was good which is the only reason it's getting two stars. The water definitely tastes off somehow. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy and added on two eggs. They were soooo bland and the biscuits tasted like straight up flour. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chicken apple sausage. It tasted sour, the tortilla was thick and chewy and the salsa had zero flavor. It tasted like water. Frozen food Upon my arrival, I appreciated that the table had been cleaned--but the floor was filthy and full of food scraps. I had to ask someone to sweep it, which should have already been done before seating guests. Asked for poached eggs I said is it possible to have sourdough instead of english muffins and waiter said I was asking to many changes??? When she came back they said sorry can we give you sourdough instead as there is no english muffins???? Then, to make matters worse, the food was clearly frozen. The soup and chicken were still cold inside, and the eggs were undercooked and watery--not over easy, just poorly prepared. Why are you serving frozen meals? If I wanted that, I could've bought a microwave dinner from the supermarket and stayed home. This is completely unacceptable for any establishment that calls itself a restaurant. To be fair, your staff did admit the food was frozen--but that only confirms the issue. I left feeling upset and disappointed. The food is delicious. I ordered the 3 egg scramble with bacon, spinach and Monterey. The bacon was crispy and the spinach perfectly cooked all within the scramble. Hello, I came with my family to celebrate my graduation and we were met with a busy rush. We were not given menus or offered any water. Upon sitting down we were left alone for a while, then a waitress came over to ask us "if we were ready to order" ... I chose something small as my first thing here but the rest of my party got meals. We asked for a substitution for pork and still after waiting....we were interrupted without manners "oh did u take a bite of it" we gave you the pork one. Where to begin, I randomly found this place and decided to give it a try on Monday. I'm beyond happy that I did. They were busy when I got there and only had one server, Pete, despite being busy he was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable, he was so good I asked if he owned the place and he said "no I just work here" with a smile. I looked at the yelp to help my decide my meal and got nervous because of a review that made some pretty awful claims about race, I can say as a black man that I was treated very well, as were every customer regardless of race. The food was incredible, sure it's a little pricy but that's everything these days, the quality of the food and the portion size made it a great deal. The restaurant itself is a bit run down but the decor and music are a vibe, you can tell what this restaurant can be if it were in a newer building. Empowering quotes adorn the walls and a great picture of Jordan v. Kobe. When I was paying I saw the celebrity menu that featured Stevie Wonder, next time I visit I'm eating what Stevie eats. First of all idk about y'all but I love me some yogurt parfaits to start my breaKfast meal (yes I'm a FATTY) and MAIN KITCHEN replaces the milk with the yogurt and OMG,ABSOLUTE ORGASM IN YOUR MOUTH !! i don't know why I've never done this myself, idk if I'm late to this meal but totally exceptional and is going to be hard to go back to yogurt!!! Fruits were very fresh and delicious !! Also had the el dorado Burrito which was not my favorite bfast burrito but it was good , has potatoes chorizo and scrambled eggs!! I asked for a chipotle sauce and the waitress hooked me up with a tapatío creamy sauce (which I would recommend) to ask for your burrito!! I wonder if they are under new management... 3/5 - Steak and Eggs: They now use ribeye (which I prefer over the previous strip steak). It's a little thin, but it's steak and eggs down the street from where I live... 2/5 - Oatmeal with Berries 2/5 - Grits: a little watery 2/5 - Southern Biscuit Slider: Toasted biscuits with egg, fried chicken and maple gravy. The food came out to 2.25 stars but I'm bumping up to 3 for the good service and comfortable environment. I love the decorations and enjoyed the music.
