2nd visit yesterday. Wanted someplace to chat with my friend and have breakfast & lunch options. My friend was seated already after a 15 min wait. I ordered the same thing I ordered last time but as a omelette instead of a scramble and I got home fries instead of sourdough toast. I enjoyed the omelette very much. The toppings inside were tasty. I home fries were basic, the portion seemed a little small. I covered them in ketchup. Their lemonade is homemade fresh. I love it. Small glass. No refills for $4 I do like that's it a local spot and supporting local restaurants which eases the pain of $27, includes tax/tip. But my budget may not be able to support more than once in a while. Plus the fact that the owner replies in such a hostile manner to people sharing their honest opinions- would have originally kept me for trying this place. Hello, I came with my family to celebrate my graduation and we were met with a busy rush. We were not given menus or offered any water. Upon sitting down we were left alone for a while, then a waitress came over to ask us "if we were ready to order" ... I chose something small as my first thing here but the rest of my party got meals. We asked for a substitution for pork and still after waiting....we were interrupted without manners "oh did u take a bite of it" we gave you the pork one. The waffle will be perfect for anyone who does not yet have, but will want diabetes. The eggs on all dishes were not cooked how we asked for them. The Benedict eggs came out practically hard boiled. Where to begin, I randomly found this place and decided to give it a try on Monday. I'm beyond happy that I did. They were busy when I got there and only had one server, Pete, despite being busy he was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable, he was so good I asked if he owned the place and he said "no I just work here" with a smile. I looked at the yelp to help my decide my meal and got nervous because of a review that made some pretty awful claims about race, I can say as a black man that I was treated very well, as were every customer regardless of race. The food was incredible, sure it's a little pricy but that's everything these days, the quality of the food and the portion size made it a great deal. The restaurant itself is a bit run down but the decor and music are a vibe, you can tell what this restaurant can be if it were in a newer building. Empowering quotes adorn the walls and a great picture of Jordan v. Kobe. When I was paying I saw the celebrity menu that featured Stevie Wonder, next time I visit I'm eating what Stevie eats. My wife and I brought my mother-in-law here for breakfast today. I came here based on the Yelp reviews, but I will not be coming back. We first ordered double lattes. The lattes were hot, which was nice but they had a slight sweetness which I initially I couldn't determine why. My wife stated it tasted like french vanilla, which did seem correct. I have yet to go to a coffee shop, order a latte and it contain anything other than espresso and milk, unless it is a flavored latte which this wasn't. My wife and mother-in-law split an order of pancakes and fried chicken but substituted waffles for the pancakes. The chicken tenders were basically a pre cooked chicken strip that was warmed. The waffle was a premade Belgian waffle similar or maybe exactly the same as what Costco sells. My wife asked for a side of berries and bananas, which was a small cup which we later realized was $8! Normally a waiter would let a customer know of an extra costs like that when asking for a side that is not listed on the menu. We expected to pay for it, but that was overly expensive. I ordered the Hemingway Benedict with a side of grits. The Benedicts were fine but the grits were bland. I know grits are plain by themselves but normally there is a little effort to add a tiny something on them to dress them up. Lastly, I asked the waitress for the check, she literally slammed it on table, her flat palm making a sound clap as it hit the table, and she walked away not saying a word. My family looked at each other and just had to laugh as we couldn't believe that occurred. The waitress said say thank you when she came back to pick up the credit card and was much gentler when she returned with the receipt for us to sign and state a tip. In the many restaurants I have been to, this may be the 2nd time ever where I leave no tip. I would not recommend coming here. read more

Ordered pancakes, they were 2 small whole wheat ones( website showed three- hostess said afterward that they weren't whole wheat) but they were dense and brown, certainly not good like most pancakes should be. I came here to finally grab breakfast at this place because I seen it but never had the chance until this past Sunday. I was worried I wouldn't find parking but since I came in the early morning, I got a parking spot in the small plaza it's in. My wife decided to join me and the moment we walked inside a worker told me no outside drink. I was carrying a coconut water can so I just went to put it back in the car since it wasn't that big of a deal but most places I go to doesn't mind. We got seated inside where the dining room was and we thought it was a nice place. It's not that big so you're closer to other customer. I started off with their French Toast berries and banana and my wife went with their chicken chilaquiles. My wife asked what sauce does the chilaquiles uses and our waitress said they use both red and green sauce. The food came out quick and we started eating it. I thought the French toast was okay but I don't think it was worth the price they were charging for it. My wife said she really like the chilaquiles more than the other place I took her yesterday. I didn't realize that it has been over 7 years since the last time we ate at Main Kitchen Cafe. The menu has changed considerably since our last visit. The inside is different also. I wonder if they are under new management... 3/5 - Steak and Eggs: They now use ribeye (which I prefer over the previous strip steak). It's a little thin, but it's steak and eggs down the street from where I live... 2/5 - Oatmeal with Berries 2/5 - Grits: a little watery 2/5 - Southern Biscuit Slider: Toasted biscuits with egg, fried chicken and maple gravy. The food came out to 2.25 stars but I'm bumping up to 3 for the good service and comfortable environment. I love the decorations and enjoyed the music. Looked up a few places and decided on this place, reviews were very good. Happy to say, they live up to those reviews!! The young lady who seated us had a lovely persona. She welcomed us with a smile and promptly seated us. We engaged in light conversation about the restaurant. She was very knowledgeable and seemed to sincerely enjoy her job. We decided to just share the steak and egg combo, we asked our server if that would be okay, she said yes. They do have Tiramisu French Toast which looked very delicious and recommended by our server. I highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. Came by early Saturday morning. Place was filling up. Upon arrival, we followed the sign to wait to be seated, and we were greeted and seated in just a few seconds. The process was smooth and hassle-free. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious. I ordered the three-egg omelet with fruit, and my son enjoyed the kids' pancakes w eggs and bacon. Came in with a friend looking for a place to grab a bite and have a chance to chat for a bit- first time here. It was a Wednesday around 12:30. There must've been 3 or 4 parties having lunch- mellow, not at all crowded or very busy. Nobody greeted us or was visible on the floor nor was there the usual "wait to be seated" sign ..... so we chose a table towards the back and sat down. We were busy talking and didn't realize how long we were sitting without anyone coming by (it was ok- we were not in a hurry). It wasn't until another party came in that we saw a staff member. She immediately approached them and gave them menus and silverware. I waved for her so she would notice we were there (we were towards the back after all so I figured she hadn't seen us yet- no problem) so she looks at me and from where she's standing says to me "you're supposed to wait to be seated, this is a restaurant" (excuse me?) she then turned around - I presumed to get menus for us- but she didn't come back. So I got up and asked her "does that mean you will not wait on us?" She repeated - you're supposed to wait to be seated- I said but nobody was there and there's no sign so we took a seat. She gave me a dirty look and went to hand me the menus with a very snooty attitude. So I said "if you don't want to wait on us we can just leave" and she said "ok". Put the menus back and turned around. As a previous business owner I was amazed at how the service industry has changed. That young lady does not belong in the service industry at all. She seems quite unhappy and does not represent her employer well. She's actually losing money for the restaurant- other patrons noticed what happened and shook their heads. My friend and I will definitely not come back nor will we recommend a place with such rude service. I'm sure that's neither here nor there for the owners but if the problem keeps repeating itself then they may reconsider- or not! I know restaurants are struggling to find good help, but this girl is not it for this establishment! I would not want her representing my business! That's for sure. read more

The kitchen took the time to write out the ingredients on the container of hollandaise and then put "the sour part" next to the lemon with a winky face. I'm not new to hollandaise I've been eating it since childhood as it was a staple in my home growing up. There was nothing wrong with saying it felt a bit sour. Sometimes that happens. I've given this place 6 attempts. That's a lot of chances. But it's my duty to be honest I've been doing help for a while and I rarely ever give low stars. Super petty.
