Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs
Czarina V.

This has been on my must-visit brunch list for a while now, and I'm glad we finally got the chance to try it today. There were definitely fewer people on a Wednesday morning, which was great. The service was quick and wonderful, and our food came out promptly. I personally loved the chicken fried steak and eggs that I ordered. My family had a wonderful dining experience overall.

Main Kitchen Cafe was a good breakfast spot! Parking it's mostly street parking with a small lot on the side. Our server was friendly. The food was good too. We ordered the steak and eggs, which came with potatoes on the side, and they cook the eggs exactly how you like them. It definitely hit the spot. We also tried the El Dorado burrito with chorizo, tomatoes, and eggs. I added avocado inside, and I highly recommend doing the same; it made the burrito even better. Overall the experience was good and we will come back to try the other dishes.

Love the vibe of this place! Very down to earth and it has a comfort home vibe. Plenty of tables and I love the quotes and artwork all through out the place. Jade helped us out. She was super nice and friendly. There are a lot of good items on the menu. I actually had a hard time choosing. I ordered the El Dorado burrito and it was delicious! Served freshly cooked and the chorizo and eggs were very filling. Jade recommended the hot sauces they had and I tried all 3 levels lol. Very good. Definitely coming back! Thank you!

First time trying this local Granada Hills restaurant. Gathering with neighbors for a gab sesh over breakfast on Boxing Day. Despite the rain, the restaurant was warm and cozy and we arrived just before 9am, ahead of the weary crowds of post holiday diners. We were seated right away and drink orders delivered promptly. Questions about food substitutes was handled efficiently and friendly, with some additional suggestions which is appreciated. Food arrived within 15 mins of order so the kitchen was in top form. Everything looked delicious and, between bits of gossip, the reviews were positive. We stayed well after the plates had cleared. I don't believe we were keeping customers from the table, but we also weren't rushed by the staff. While we were a group of 4, I think this lovely spot would be best for intimate settings of 2. I would definitely recommend MKC as a meeting spot. While I opted for a basic parfait, after too much holiday indulging it was a light, refreshing break. Strawberries and blueberries were fresh, but the peaches canned. Tasty, but all fresh and seasonal if necessary would be the only recommendation I could offer. Everyone seemed pleased with their choices and I will def return - maybe even contributing some coffee mugs cluttering my own cabinets. Cheers! "CC"

On our drive to Camarillo for some outlet shopping, we decided to find a breakfast spot. My wife googled "breakfast near me" and found Main Kitchen Cafe. A quick reroute from the 118 freeway and we were in Granada Hills. We found the restaurant and had no trouble finding a parking space. The restaurant is definitely a diamond in the rough. The local businesses are of various nature so this great little cafe stands out. The decor provides a warm and inviting environment. We were greeted warmly by a waitress, Noemy, who eventually seated us and took our order. Coffee and hot chocolate were delivered soon after and our meals came quickly as well. My wife's Lemon Ricotta Blueberry pancakes were delicious. My Chicken Fried Steak with eggs, biscuit and gravy and potatoes was excellent. The potatoes were a highlight of the dish. Very yummy!!! Oh, and Noemy was attentive and friendly and provided excellent care for our first visit to this popular neighborhood cafe. Though the restaurant is about 20 miles from our home, we definitely will be back when we are headed to points west from our home.

Was in the mood for a breakfast burrito and passing by so I decided to stop in. I must've arrived between breakfast and lunch and was sad immediately. The staff was all very friendly. Decided to go with the sunshine Ranch, breakfast burrito and it was great. Ingredients were clean tasting, and after eating a large burrito still felt great and not bogged down like some burritos can make you feel. Coffee is actually really good. Since it wasn't that busy, it was very calm and relatively quiet inside.

Gem hidden in plain sight. I've been living near this fine establishment and barely discovered. I must've been living under rock but glad I'm in the "know". Main Kitchen Cafe is a wonderful place for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Huge menu, awesome drinks, and great service. The small business neighborhood feel gives it a warm charm. Food is excellent. I went with a group and was able to try out different things. I've never had fried catfish for breakfast. But I'm sure glad I did. Come on in and enjoy a nice warm dine-in experience. Parking is easy. Enjoy.

Chilaquiles
Orlando P.

I really wanted to love these chilaquiles... but they came out fighting me instead The chicken tasted like it clocked in straight from a Costco bag no seasoning, just vibes. The red sauce? Missing in action. I kept waiting for flavor to show up... it never RSVP'd. Then came the beans just poured on top like they were trying to cover up a crime scene. I see what you did there but it didn't save it. Food took about 20 minutes, which isn't terrible... but for something this mid, it felt like a long 20. Pricing? Definitely paying premium for a struggle plate. I've had way better for way less. Overall: 2/10 (and that's me being generous) Would I come back? Only if the chef decides to season something... anything.

5/5 I give this place. I gotta hand it to the kitchen staff for making our food good. It was cooked and seasoned well. The steak and eggs were fantastic! Pancake with berries, strawberries and bananas was also fantastic! I'm impressed. The staff were very helpful and paid attention to the customers and kept the place clean inside. Parking can be a challenge on a week day since it is shared with other vendors around and it they don't have a lot of space for many. Overall, it was a good experience eating here. Keep it up!

Belgian Waffles, Smoked Salmon plate, Sunshine Ranch Burrito
Penelope

Food was incredibly delicious. I ordered the Salmon Plate which came with Smoked Salmon, sliced cucumber, cream cheese, tomato, and a toasted bagel. Would definitely order again and come back to try other items on the menu. My group was seated at around 11:30am on a Sunday and there was a bit of a wait time of about 15 minutes. The inside of the restaurant was a bit crowded and there was not much room to wait so they directed people outside. Our waiter was friendly and provided good service but she seemed very much overwhelmed. Overall, great experience here!

Dining area decor
Cece L.

Greeted by hostess quickly and kindly. We sat in a clean and inviting dining room. Not too fancy. Lots of wall decor and some music playing in background. We got our food quickly and enjoyed the meal and coffee. It was brought out quickly and the ingredients were great. I recommend this spot for breakfast. I would be careful where you park. I almost got hit when getting in and out of the parking spot along chatsworth. Park in the lot next door if possible. I would return in a heartbeat.

Hemingway Benedict Breakfast
Lidiya M.

What a difference from the last time we went! Lox benedict was so tasty and the Hollandaise wasn't lemony at all! The huevos rancheros (plus avocado) were also delicious. Even the kiddo had a good time with the omelet. And the service - 10 stars! So friendly and accommodating! I've never been so happy to see a Paw Patrol sticker in my life! LOL

So, I saw a review saying it's pet friendly and then another negative review for service animals, I'm confused by the owners response and the person saying no. Are service dogs allowed indoors or not?

Hi Marcela, Yes. Service dogs/animals are always welcome. The customer review in question is…

How large a parking lot is there?

There's ample parking for the total seating capacity of the restaurant. More if you add the curbside spaces in front.

Hi question, a few local moms and I have a reserved table for Saturday, I know you don't sever mimosas. But I wonder if we could bring our own bottle and pay a corking fee? It's their first time there and I'd love to make it an amazing experience

Hi!? About how big of a party can come to the café? Is there anyway to reserve seating before hand?

It's not a huge place biggest party I saw was 6 people but I could be wrong and I would call to ask about the reservation thing.

Do you guys still serve the French toast with bourbon bacon, bananas, and macadamia nuts?

That item is currently not available on our menu. Perhaps a different version of that will return in the future. Thanks for the inquiry. Hope that helped.

Is it pet friendly?

I was there 8/16/21 and a patio diner had her dog with them. It looked pet friendly.

You know those individuals who want to bypass their birthdays and hardly celebrate? Well, I am the…read morecomplete opposite! My birthday is the ONE day/time a year where I want to be a queen, celebrated, live it up and adored. I expect my birthday to include multiple festivities with a birthday dinner to top it off. Casalena in Woodland Hills has been at the top of the list for trendy, upscale restaurants recently and has even been a vendor at Yelp events (2025's CarnEvil). I finally got to experience Casalena in all it's glory for my 42nd birthday accompanied by fellow Yelper Michael B. Casalena holds real estate on the corner of Ventura and San Feliciano Drive in Woodland Hills in a building tucked behind large flora & fauna immediately giving a VIP aura and hidden mystique. This very special building was built in 1982 by the Makhani family and is currently owned by the Makhani children/siblings. Based on a fictional 'Lady Lena', a strong but nurturing idea of a goddess to the Makhani family; Casalena combines modern flare with elegance, boasting a Mediterranean menu and aiming to provide each and every guest with top-tier hospitality. We made reservations for my birthday on a Saturday at 6:40 and arrived to a PACKED restaurant - and I mean PACKED! - but I was blown away by the architectural design and ambiance of Casalena. Casalena is a dimly-lit, wooden accented, full glass walls, arched ceiling, paradise with a bar area, main dining hall complete with fireplace and a sunroom that somehow combines Hollywood with New York City vibes. I've never even been to New York City but it has that feel. I also hear there is an upstairs area but I did not venture to the second floor. We were seated on the east side windows of Casalena and I do have to complain that it was SO loud that you find yourself repeating conversation to your fellow diner(s) but it is the tradeoff to such a popular spot. Our waiter Cory took our birthday drink orders with my choice of a Golden Sour (bourbon, Pamplemousse liquour, port, lemon, egg froth - $20) and Michael going with The Juicy Scoop (passion fruit vodka, blood orange juice, lime, dehydrated blood orange - $19); while we also elected a starter of Hamachi Crudo (ponzu, serrano, crispy leek - $25). As you can see: prices at Casalena are slightly steep so bring your A-game wallet. Our drinks were beautifully crafted with my Golden Sour being a symphony of smoke essence, egg white, bourbon and sour; while Micheal's Juicy Scoop was the color of an island sunset and had the perfect pucker. The Hamachi Crudo started leads with Casalena tending to 'forget' the ponzu vinaigrette (they did to the table next to us, as well) so make sure to ask because the dish needs it. For my birthday meal, I selected the daily special of Pan-Seared Scallops (creamy polenta, micro mustard frill - $39) and Michael was in a pizza mood with the Spicy Soppressata (fresh mozzarella, scamorza, Soppressata, Calabrian honey - $26). I absolutely ADORE Casalena and its energy/design but I wouldn't say you get your money's worth in terms of food. My $39 dish was TINY in portion and although the polenta was tasty; it wasn't blowing me away and neither were the FOUR, baby-sized scallops. That's right: the entree only came with four scallops and not even jumbo-sized! The dish was also sort of bland in my opinion. I dislike upscale restaurants overcharging for mediocre, small-portion plates. Micheal's pizza was better, in my opinion, than my choice which I tasted despite being Celiac and not being able to have gluten. The pizza's crust was soft but crispy, lots of cheese and plenty of salami but again: not really anything I haven't had before. Not bad, but not out of this world and what I expect for the prices. I wanted a candle to blow out for my birthday (and I have plenty of wishes) so we ordered the Pink Lady Tarte Tatin - again, despite gluten - because Pink Lady apples are my favorite (butter caramel, pink lady apples, puff pastry, vanilla ice cream - $15). Although Casalena did provide a candle, they charged us for the dessert which most places give free for your birthday. Lame. The dessert was delicious though: the puff pastry was slightly flat but the combination of the pastry, thin, baked apple slices and vanilla was a lovely fall dessert treat. I know this might seem like I am picking on Casalena but their bathroom situation is WILD. The ladies' room is closet-sized and only has TWO stalls which is insane for the size of the restaurant and guest occupancy while the men were standing in a long line for the unisex bathroom. What?! Casalena has amazing energy and is a fantastic choice to impress a date or have a birthday celebration but just don't expect the food to send you out of this universe and bring your wallet. On a plus note: Michael received an email thanking us for us visit, which, although a form email, was a wonderful closing note. Not perfect; but I did love Casalena overall and would return.
