Maico is good. It may be the best stationary taco stand in Tucson. They serve excellent cabeza and adobada. Their carne asada isn't remarkable, but it's solidly good. The carnitas were lackluster and not worthy of a second try, but they weren't bad, either. Maico doesn't give you a lot of salsa options, but their menu is expansive, their prices affordable, and their service exceptionally friendly. The outdoor seating is absolutely perfect--this either makes intuitive sense or you'll never get it. If you like the idea of sitting at a picnic table late at night, killing a few delicious tacos on warm corn tortillas, and watching the traffic go by, you'll like Maico. read more

It was hard to find. The tacos at Maico's are great street tacos. I will become a regular. We tried this place solely on the basis of Yelp. I thought it was very good. I got the ground beef taco plate and my lunch partner got carne asada taco plate. We both got medium drinks and the total was around 18 bucks for everything. They have picnic tables set up and you order at the window. The guy brings out your food and drinks. My ground beef tacos were good-- the ground beef was mixed with potatoes and onions and was cooked very well. The lettuce and cheese were very fresh and they give you real taco shells that don't break apart of the first bite. My partner said that the carne asada was cooked very well and everything seemed very fresh to him as well. The beans and rice were cooked perfectly as well. I will go back-- next time I am intrigued with the taco salad or maybe the fish tacos. They have a vast menu with lots to choose from. read more

Was getting my car fixed and decided to grab lunch here on the recommendation from the mechanic. This is some very good food and authentic tortillas SOOO good ! They had fast service good sizes and decent prices exspecially for how good it was. Only bad thing is they only have outside seating but wasn't bad in the cool weather. I will be back!! read more

Maico is so oddly named that I wonder if drivers wanting a paint job for their cars pull up here mistaking it for Maaco, getting into their primered project cars with a delicious Texano burro instead of a paint job. The pleasant little patio with a hard-working sprinkler system is a nice place to wait for your oversized to go orders, and the red chile burro is (gulp) on par with the venerable Nico's version. The salsa packs a sweet-hot punch, and the sonoran dogs are gooey wonders. They've forgotten a couple of ingredients in my orders before (cheese and sour cream was missing in my last Texano) but we've never regretted a stop here and the service is professional and friendly. I can't imagine dining on the sun-scorched patio with the tinny little speakers blasting rancheria into the hot asphalt of 22nd Street, but they do take-out to a tee read more

We seen this place on Bizarre Foods where Andrew had the menudo and said he liked it. We were headed to Phoenix so we made it a point to stop off there. Big Mistake! It was during the week so I don't think they had menudo so I ordered carnitas and cabeza tacos. Probably some of the worst tacos I've ever ate. The meat was dried out overly shredded. It's like they had it for days and just re-heated it in a pan... just bad. There is no inside seating and you have to battle the flies outside. For a place to get air time on a national tv program and be empty at lunch time, you know it's bad. read more

Service is a 5, price is a 5. Husband's carnitas burrito was a 4, my pollo asado taco was a 3, lacked flavor. Chips and salsa was different. They melt cheese on top and then some pico. Salsas are the really runny kind, not my preference, but the chips were good. This is a great little joint. We'll be back to try the breakfast burritos. read more

I like this place. The guy who runs it is really friendly (though I'm ashamed to admit that I've forgotten his name) and the food is reasonably priced and generally good. I've enjoyed their lengua tacos and carnitas tortas; their cabeza tacos were a little less exciting, but still pretty good. After seeing the place on Bizarre Foods I realized I had been missing out on their goat birria stew, so I've been keeping my eye out for it, but so far I've only seen the beef birria on offer (I ordered it once and thought it was good but not exceptional). All in all, there's not really anything to complain about, though I have yet to find something here that's really special. It's such a charming little place that I really want to find something about it to advocate loudly, but so far it hasn't happened. If that changes, I'll post an update. read more

Got the chicken taco combo and a ceviche tostada. It was pretty good. Nothing was too memorable compared to other Mexican food spots. I'd put it in the same vein as Betos, Viva and Nicos. I loved this place! Such a gem!! After a long day in my cubicle at UA, I really needed some authentic Mexican - a combo plate, to be exact. My fellow yelpers did not let me down, and thanks to that lovely picture that accompanies the entry, I decided to give it a try. It's casual, cheap, and they have a huge menu! As a vegetarian, I always look for something cheesy that I can smother in guacamole, and this place totally delivered. The staff was friendly, and I must say, I kind of liked sitting outside under the misters (even though it was hot!). I have a tendency to just spew praise when I love a place, so I'll wrap it up. The food here was really good! Don't expect anything fancy, just great Mexican food that's hot and fresh. I had the California burrito, and it didn't disappoint! The steak was high quality and had great flavor. My buddy had a chorizo burrito and said it was very good as well. I also liked the size of the burritos. Some places will load them up with rice and beans to make them bigger. This place used the right portion of each ingredient to maximize the flavor, not the size. read more
