So sad that I didn't get any pictures, but my friends and I were so hungry we literally couldn't wait. The last time I was here was when things were just starting to open up during covid so there was absolutely no one. This time around was a Sunday at 12pm and was really busy. Definitely not packed like sardines, but we did wait a little to be seated. The service was good - I got everything I wanted really quickly after I asked for it. As for the food - it was great! I got the basic dim sum stuff... shumai, fried shrimp, rice paper rolls, roasted pork buns, steamed pork buns, calamari, roasted duck, chinese broccoli, fried glutinous rice balls. We loved them all! This was my friends first time at a dim sum place so I had to give them the works. They definitely loved it and wanted to come back. Everything tasted as I had remembered from when I was a kid and nothing was extremely oily like other places. The calamari and chinese broccoli was a little salty for our taste, but it was still addictive. The calamari had some fried onions in the mix and I loved the sweetness it gave the dish. My friend ended up taking the broccoli home and she said she would try putting it in some rice or stir fried noodles. Pretty nifty find only 30 minutes from home...when we are used to traveling to Seven Corners, Va for our dim sum fix! Our experience was similar to recent reviewers - attentive and polite service, very fresh and very tasty food, and carts plus menus. The diversity of choices was about 50% less than, say, Hong King Pearl, and the hot offerings were not all on heated/steam-table type carts, leaving us a bit concerned on behalf of the customers eating things like cold calamari and Chinese broccoli, but our choices like dumplings were hot. We will definitely go back - every person working in the restaurant wore masks, and most customers walked in with masks on, although a few large parties didn't bother. One of the best Beef Chow Fun i ever had! I LOVE the smell of the slightly charred/smoky/burnt/dried/slightly chewy/stir fried noodles with bean sprouts and spring onions. The beef was thickly sliced but SUPER tender and more flavorful then i ever had it; not oily at all. We ordered the seafood casserole, there were more squids then other seafood, i wish it had more ginger; and we ordered the roasted duck. As the first time I had dim sum was at a popular restaurant in NYC, my bar is set kind of high. But you won't find many dim sum joints in Maryland or DC and even fewer that serve it all day. I enjoyed my visit here. The prices were reasonable and they have a large menu of legit dim sum and other Asian dishes. Most of the clientele were Asian as well, which is always a good sign for a restaurant if they are attracting the folks that are most familiar with the dishes they are serving. This is a good, solid dim sum place for those who don't want to brave the chaos inside the Baltimore Beltway. Most of the dim sum classics are here: shu mai, har gow, turnip cake, egg tarts, charsiu buns, sticky rice, wu gok, etc. Most of them are good; a few of them are excellent, such as the shu mai and turnip cakes. In addition, they also have a cart with prepared dishes, such as fried nooodles, beef chow fun, fried pork belly, chinese broccoli, etc. Our fried pork belly was quite good, as was the beef chow fun, though it could've used a lot more beef. Dessert included numerous other items, included sweet tofu, which was nice to see. Service was friendly and responsive, a welcome change from the experience of most dim sum places. But the service staff moving the carts about could've been better at announcing/showing their wares. This was especially true for the server handling the steam cart, as I had to ask her, "what else do you have?" until I found a few of my dim sum favorites. Ended up leaving without seeing my go-tos, like tofu skin rolls or shrimp-stuffed tofu when they could actually been on the carts, just not announced. Due to the pandemic our favorite in N.Y.C., Jin Fong, closed. We have been in mourning ever since. We are so happy that we have found Mai Dim Sum. I thought it was weird that they wouldn't seat us yet because there was room and another person behind me said that their party was already inside. They were serving on carts (bonus because you get food right away!) This may be our go-to dimsum place from now on. After making the move from Baltimore, which surprisingly had a great dimsum option, I was looking for a comparable place near our home in Odenton and came across this place. My husband and I walked in, a little skeptical. The restaurant is actually Mai Dragon, but they do dimsum on the weekends (which is typical of all dimsum places), which is where their other name comes from. They still have the option of ordering from Mai Dragon menu, even during dimsum hours. We ordered shrimp shumai, Chinese broccoli, turnip cake, shrimp dumpling, braised short ribs, shrimp cheung fun (shrimp roll), and jasmine tea to wash down everything. Everything was delicious. My husband's favorite was the turnip cake and my favorite was the Chinese broccoli. We walked out stuffed and happy from everything so good and not very expensive. Excited to try Mai Dim Sum because this would have been a closer (to home) alternative than the Montgomery County area. Unfortunately, the first dim sum plates that came out were on the cold side. You got to have these steaming hot! The radish cake was well cooked (so kudos for that since I know how hard it can be to make radish cake) and the shumai that came later were actually hot and tasted good. Didn't like the sauce on the chicken feet as much though. The property was clean, and the staff was friendly. We placed several orders for dim sum, all of which were delicious and came in generous portions. However the rice dish wasn't very good. The rice was mushy, not fresh and it was more chicken than shrimp. The egg rolls weren't really flavorful and I found myself using a lot more duck sauce than usual. Not sure that I would revisit but if I do will request that my rice is cooked to order. read more

Excelent dim sum. Not the best ever, which is probably in Chicago and Hong Kong. But, Mia is right up there with NYC and Brooklyn 7th Ave dim sum. And far, far better than what passes for "Chinese food" in Washington DC Chinatown these days. A good sign is that the shopping plaza has other Asian restaurants, and most of the customers in the area were Asian. So, thankfully they're not catering to the pork fried rice and chicken wings crowd. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) My only small complaint is that the dim sum restaurants in larger cities can offer a larger variety. read more
