This place was so much fun!!! We were in town for the weekend from Charlotte. Thanks to an Uber driver we learned of this restaurant. We went our last night in San Antonio and we're a bunch of young adults in our 20s, and my mother was with as well. We had a blast! Seriously the highlight of our trip to San Antonio! Not only was it fun and remarkable how all the staff stayed in character the entire time we were there but the food was amazing! We were shocked at how good the food was. The prices are very reasonable as well as the drinks. This is a must go to if you're planning on a trip to San Antonio or if you live there, you have to check this place out! We found it on a list of Great Places to Take a Teen in San Antonio. While my 14 year old did some grumbling- maybe he secretly loved it. the food was immaculate, i love working really hard to chew my food and the chicken that reminded me of a michelin tire straight from auto zone really did it for me. zoro was very in character and had some great interactions with us and the ambience inside the building is pretty nice. the ugly bubbly magic time machine potion truly worked and turned everyone who consumed it chopped. but the star of the show, the microwaved food really puts the cherry on top and solidifies this spot as a 5 star place to go eat with any crowd. read more

This joint was magical and exquisite. I think that the overall place needs a wipe down. The randomly assorted Knick knacks were stuck to the wood and the children running were likely unvaccinated. All things considered, the salad bar was a huge perk! The aesthetic was fun and super unique. I'd one day love to design a restaurant like this too! The host was chill, but her little minion that was dressed as Misti was just not all there for me. Anyways... our waiter snow wight was awesome and kept the magic coming! She was so much fun and very sweet. We had a blast listening to Goku and nacho libre but please tell mr. Nacho Libre to hide his bulge. The food was the best part! Our experience here was GOOD, I got seated quickly because I joined the waiting list on Yelp so glad I did it too bc by the time my name was called, the waiting area was full... The atmosphere was on point & all characters were on point.. the food was also good, the tab was fair priced. This the perfect place for bringing out of town guests, to celebrate young ones birthdays, or for those young at heart. We came to celebrate our youngest daughter becoming a teenager. We made reservations (highly encouraged) for 25 people. We were seated promptly when our entire party was present. The best part of our experience was seeing the joy and smiles on our grandchildren's faces each time they recognized a character. Loved that the waitstaff stayed in character and didn't just wear the costume Food is good . My family looks forward to the fun and magic of eating here everytime we travel anywhere near San Antonio. I accept the very basic menu, but this time the sides really left something to be desired. I am not a small man, my wife is almost my size, my son is as tall as I am, and my daughter is almost 18 (not a child), but they chose to seat us at the smallest table crowded into the littlest nook I have ever seen with a table in it. Add to that, their HVAC was not working on a day with record heat in the region. Our waiter struggled to be in character, never refilled our drinks, and it all added up to a less than spectacular evening. I expect better, based on past experience, and we will probably visit again, but I sure hope some improvements have been made by then - I don't want my next visit to be my last. read more

We came to Magic Time Machine to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday. We arrived at 5:15 pm. Upon entry the hosts told us 45 minutes to 1 hour. We were a party of 8, so we expected we would have to wait. So I signed in and they suggested us to go to game room, face painting, and bar area. We did that. After spending on games and face paintings and drinks at the bar we finally get seated at 7:15. It was frustrating to say the least. We lucked out with a great waiter--the Riddler. He was efficient, friendly, funny, and fast. It was perfect because we were all hangry at that point. The salad bar was on the other side of the restaurant and it was quite messy and HOT! I was so grateful not to be sitting on that side. The salad was fine. Our birthday girl opted to do a parade around the restaurant and it was so hot on the other side at that point in the evening too. For food we got mozzarella sticks and spinach artichoke dip--great apps. For food the catfish and shrimp plate was the family favorite. The chicken tenders were mushy- no crusty outside and questionable if all the way cooked. The chicken Alfredo was bland. The brisket plate was not appealing either. The food was mediocre at best. You are paying for the ambience, so keep that in mind. read more

We took friends who'd never been there before, and they were highly entertained. The only issue we had was they were very understaffed. Things took a little longer than they should have. My food (not the others in my party) was way better than expected but the atmosphere was a huge disappointment. We were seated in the right side of the restaurant by the bar which was empty, quiet, unattractive and BORING!!!! INSIST ON BEING SEATED ON THE LEFT (by the salad bar). It's where all the action and fun is. We felt as if we had done something wrong and were being put in time out. We're from Denver and were expecting a Casa Bonita. If you're familiar with Casa Bonita, this place is similar in food and seating (if you go to the left) but without the entertainment: no cliff diving into a pool, no puppet or magic shows, no balloon, artist, no free face painting, no mariachi band. To be fair though, Magic Time Machine is about 1/3-1/2 the price. Kids meals were high for what they got. That potion drink is extra and most kids don't eat much salad bar if any, so it came to $12 each for pizza they didn't eat. I got the chopped steak which was cooked fabulously rare as requested. I sampled everyone's chicken and thought it was over cooked to the point of being dry that only one of them ate more than a couple bites. The kids' pizza was terrible. Doughy and tasteless. When our three grandkids don't eat their pizza, you know it was bad. Our adult entrees were all under $15, so quite reasonable. I think if we go again we'd be tempted to get adult meals for the kids and split them. Our service was good, but uber boring. The hot bread loaf as advertised never appeared. Perhaps they're not offering it anymore. There is a mandatory 18% tip added to the bill, so only tip extra if you were seated on the left side and had a fabulous time. read more

a mind-boggling experience for the ADHD mind, there's a little bit of everything, everywhere as far as decor goes. I was just there for drinks and didn't order any food. the drinks were strong and tasty. We were there for an awesome comedy show held in the basement. I definitely recommend the show for adults. read more

Absolute stunning customer service, amazing place for kids. I brought my daughter here and she took photos with every princess. The pride that these waiters take in their job is way beyond me; I could never ever excel at my job the way they do! Me and the hunny ordered 3 entrees and threw down! She ordered the full rack of ribs and need i say, just look at the photo, it speaks for itself. I ordered a burger with bacon and I would ask next time for them not to cook it so much, it was a tad bit crispy. The chicken Alfredo was good but needed a bit more flavor, just add a pinch of salt and pepper and it's a hitter. I can say the beer here is a very good price for the food they serve here, it's about $5 a mug. The margaritas are $8-$11 based on the alcohol you choose. Went on a weeknight and didn't expect to hear reservations were required. Wait time for our family of 7 was quoted at 45 minutes to an hour but they seated the family behind us immediately. When questioned the hostess told us because they were willing to split up and because they had small children. I guess our 3 toddlers were invisible to her. We also were never given the option to split up. Very disappointed. We decided to take our grandkids to Chuck E Cheese instead. read more

My wife and I were visiting from AZ and we were lucky enough to find this spot close to our hotel to take the grandkids and other local family out for dinner on our last night in San Antonio. We took our son for his 8th birthday and it did not disappoint. The staff/characters are great. Our waiter, Scorpion from Mortal Combat, made his night and I'm very appreciative for that. Before I begin my review, I would like to thank my parents for never bringing me here during my childhood. Since I saw a friend post a picture of the ribeye on a Facebook group page, I decided to dine here. I was seated by a Mad Hatter impersonator. Then I looked at the menu. My waiter arrived dressed either like a character on Jumanji or Steve Irwin or whatever. I couldn't tell the difference. The waiter asked if I'd like an appetizer and a drink and I ordered the green magic potion and Southwestern egg rolls. The magic potion was just sugar water with bubbles. The egg rolls, which the waiter threw on my table, were just a cheap carbon copy of the ones served at Chili's but were wrapped in egg roll wrapping instead of a tortilla and only came with sour cream and guacamole. The egg rolls weren't much to write home about. Since I didn't want my entree and appetizer to arrive together, I ate the egg rolls first then placed my order for a ribeye, some fried shrimp and a baked potato. The waiter told me I can help myself to the salad bar. The salad bar was just bland and offered just lettuce, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, croutons but had plenty of options for salad dressing. While helping myself at the salad bar I heard a waitress sing or try to sing her own rendition of Dolly Parton's Island in the Stream. Before I finished my salad, the waiter brought me a loaf of bread by asking me to smell his buns. *eye roll* The bread arrived with a cup of knock off cinnamon butter similar to Texas Roadhouse. The bread though came nothing close to Texas Roadhouse's rolls. Minutes later a food runner brought my entree instead of my waiter. The steak's presentation was good and had the grill marks. The fried shrimp was ok. The baked potato was served naked without aluminum foil but the steak's juices touched the potato and I only took a few bites of the potato and finished my ribeye that had lots of gristle and cooked longer than I had ordered it. The waiter didn't refill my water or my magic potion but I didn't care and was ready for dessert so I had ordered the strawberry shortcake. The waiter arrived with the dessert which he claimed that he made himself. *another eyeroll* Sadly, the strawberry shortcake was the highlight of the meal and the only part that didn't suck. I was dismayed by the price. And I didn't care for the waiter's attitude either. read more
