I really appreciate the direct accountability and quick resolution. I'm leaving my original review below for transparency, but their prompt response today restored my confidence in their management. I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

When we initially met with Joy she represented that they have experience designing solar for steep roofs and she showed up examples of prior work. During the design, contracting, and installation phases, the company was responsive and easy to work with. However, one year later it became clear that the design was not sufficient to meet our solar needs as Joy and Han represented; not even close, and we are still paying a large electricity bill each month. As such, the economic analysis offered by the company to entice us to move forward with them doesn't pencil out and we might never recover our investment costs. If they had provided the actual solar production, we would not have moved forward with the project. When we contacted the company about this issue in summer 2024, they were very slow to respond and even though they offered to redesign the system, they delayed and delayed and often we had to contact them multiple times before we received a response. Further, they tried to shift some blame to the "trees and unexpected weather conditions." The trees being referenced were there at the time of their bid and appeared in their modeling. The trees are trimmed regularly. The weather has not had any significant deviations. More than a year after we contacted them, they have not yet redesigned the system, nor can they guarantee that the new redesign will cover our solar needs. It is very disappointing that they have not made this right. Hopefully, we can still resolve this issue, but I felt compelled to write this review so others are aware that the anticipated solar production and the economic analysis to convince you to sign may be grossly misleading.

I will be filing this review in as many forums I can, and with the Better Business Bureau, as a warning to other potential customers. Update: after posting the review above several places, Clean Initiative immediately reached out, sent out a service tech, and fixed the problem. I'm going with 4/5 stars because there still appears to be no way to reach customer service without going to such drastic lengths, but now I'm happy with the solar installation.

Working with the insurance was a pain, luckily Gil had experience working with Allstate insurance before, and he helped us a lot getting the money we needed to rebuild our home. The planning process took a bit longer than what we initially planned for. The county of LA took their sweet time approving our plans. Fortunately, after 2 sets of revisions we were fully approved. The construction wasn't bad at all, they had plenty of guys working on our home at the same time. The only time there was no work, was on inspection days. The finishes was one thing that was extremely important for us. My wife and I are detail oriented and wanted to make sure we're choosing the right company to do the finish work correctly. All I can say is that they exceeded my expectations. I had a rough vision in mind for fitting a lot into a relatively small space, but wanted to see the options rendered so I could better make the big layout and design decisions. Alexis was very patient and super helpful in mocking up each iteration until we locked in the final design. Once it was time to actually break ground, Gil, Oren, Uriel, and the rest of the team were really responsive and always available by text. Unlike previous contractors we've worked with, they usually gave us an idea of what was happening the next day/week and who to expect onsite. The first ~70% of the project went really smoothly and far exceeded my expectations. Demo, framing, rough plumbing, and electrical all largely went without a hitch. We ran into some problems towards the end around communication, timeline, and subcontractor oversight -- which led to more delays when someone punctured our new in-wall toilet tank and flooded both the bathroom and bedroom. We know every construction job runs into challenges so we weren't bent out of shape by it, and we did appreciate that GHB took full responsibility for fixing the issues. By and large we were really impressed by most of their subcontractors, especially the very professional and considerate plumbing, electrical, and tiling teams! After living with our new bathroom for a while now, we can definitely say it was worth the wait, and such a huge improvement over our previous dysfunctional layout. Thanks to GHB for their great service, amazing attitude, attention to detail, and for bringing the bright, colorful bathroom of my dreams to life!

On the day of the job, he and his crew showed up on time, worked quickly, and left the house looking fantastic - they soft washed the entire house, cleaned the windows on both stories, washed and reinstalled all the screens, cleaned the solar panels, and even cleaned out the gutters. What impressed me most was how communicative and courteous JC was. Since I couldn't be there in person, he sent me plenty of photos and videos of the work, and he also pointed out an issue with the roof that I never would have known about otherwise. That kind of attention to detail and going above and beyond is rare. Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.

We decided to go with Magic Solar after meeting with a few different solar companies. The salesmen was not pushy and showed us exactly how much we would be saving over the life of the system. They also beat the prices of 2 of the other solar companies that came to give me an estimate. We have now had our solar system for 2 months with no bill from the utility company. The actual installation of the panels only took about 2 days to complete. Overall happy with my service and support. We went with Enphase even though it was a bit more expensive. If we had a Cybertruck then Tesla all the way because of the bidirectional charging. The other advantage is that they are also a roofing company so it was all quite seamless. We were able to combine the install with replacement of the dormer vents with flat fire-resistant ones so now we are not as concerned with fire embers. Their work was impeccable throughout and the post install service is exceptional. For instance we initially missed that the water heater was not included in the backup circuits. They sent a small crew back to take care of that at no additional cost. Several months later we realized that the wall oven which we rarely used is no longer powered. They sent someone to take care of that as well. So far the system is functioning well. I was a little surprised I found out that the production calculation (120% of last year's use) is misleading. On a sunny day, by noon our batteries are full and the power generated for the rest of the day goes to the grid and is essentially wasted here in California. When I am home I can minimize this waste by charging my electric car which covers my day to day driving as it turns out. I manage it by using the Enlighten app's live status. I suppose I could have bought more batteries but I already own extra batteries. It's in the car.

Before the CAT 5 was installed the inverter stopped working again. I called Carlos, he said to give him a call the following week because he had a big job out of town. No problem. I totally understand. I tried to reconnect with him several times. Sometimes he picks up sometimes he doesn't. Last time we spoke we picked a tentative appointment date for him to come out. When I called him to confirm he wouldn't return my call. This has gone on for over a month and a half. Disappointed and a waste of time to say the least especially because he had other great reviews. Awareness for other potential clients. ***In regards to your response below, all you had to do was let me know (text/phone call). I had a working solar panel system that was operating just fine but aging and less efficient than…read morebefore. I searched on Yelp, needing to find the right company to do the upgrade without an unnecessary upsell. Carlos reached out to me right away and took the time to listen and explain the options. It turned out he showed me a much better way to upgrade our system and get a better value. I was able to pre-purchase the components from my prior solar company at great savings. Carlos' company provided the panels. Btw, Anca Solar's pricing was very reasonable and within my budget. I scheduled the service and the guys were great, even arriving early. They got the job done in one day and the system works great! The biggest plus is, Carlos responded to my emails very quickly, keeping the line of communication open. He consistently answered all my questions and left no doubt I was in good hands. I can't say enough great things about Carlos and Anca Solar.
