Given how hot and miserable 2022 summer has been so far, I can't thank Air Comfort Experts enough for their work and dedication. We've had issues with our split system on and off due to, supposedly, an installation issue. This diagnosys was from a different A/C system company, not Air Comfort Experts, but they did confirm it. When it stopped working again right at the peak of summer heat, we were devastated. And we were even more distraught when we started looking for vendors. They were either not responsive or some of them were expensive without really sounding like they knew how to fix our issue. Even though it was getting really hot and our west facing house made our afternoons pretty unbearable, we decided to take our time and find someone who can tackle our problem. That's when my husband found Air Comfort Experts. They came out and examined the problem. Gave a very competitive quote. And our technician, Enkh-od, was just one of the nicest and most cordial techs we've met. And he was determined to fix our issue, and he succeeded at the end. Originally I found Air Comfort Experts by searching on Daikin's website for their certified "Comfort Pro" installers. This is important as I found most HVAC people in SoCal do not have a lot of experience with heat pumps. We have solar panels and I feel that heat pumps are the future in California. I received quotes from five different companies, and I liked Air Comfort Experts the best as they seemed very knowledgable and were not pushy at all. They simply explained what they thought would be best and why. I also could tell the owner was detail oriented and was very easy to work with. Air Comfort Pro installed my 5 ton heat pump and air handler over 3 days, exactly when they said they would, and their workers were meticulous and extremely hard working. I felt I was very particular, and they worked with me to have everything just to my liking. I was very impressed with their work ethic and quality. The system has been performing great and we have been very happy with everything. They helped me apply for all available rebates at the time, but what really impressed me was they found a rebate later I did not know about and were able to retroactively apply without my knowledge and had a check sent to me for $1500 months after the install happened! I wish all companies took care and watched out for their customers like this. I had done quite a bit of research for replacing my old rooftop package unit and I came across Air Comfort Experts. The reason I decided to go with them was because I was looking for options to my rooftop unit and I was looking into replacing with a heat pump. After various emails and communication back and forth, we originally discussed on rooftop unit, but after further review and discussion, we ended up going with split system. Bulga came out to survey where the split system could be placed without taking up more room in the back and great idea of a side discharge heat pump was brought up. They ended up not only taking off the rooftop unit, but also installing the side discharge heat pump, air handler in the attic, replacing the old ductwork and also adding 2 additional air vents. We were very interested in this company because they install Daikin, which is a top brand for air conditioners that has great warranty and stellar reviews. Got a consultation from Bolga, who is licensed and very knowledgeable. I was impressed by how detailed he was and was able to figure out how to do installs for more difficult rooms. Air Comfort installed a heat pump central air system and did a great job. They had smart ideas about where to place the outdoor unit to keep it the shade, making it more efficient, and they were up to speed on all the relevant tax incentives. I didn't realize they also install solar panels, batteries, and heat pump water heaters, and I hope to work with them on those in the future. We did have a problem with our system where it stopped working after 1-2 months, leaking water down from the attic into our bedroom. But they came by and fixed it and it's been great ever since. Second experience with Air Comfort Experts, will also be my last. Had a great first experience and even referred several friends to try them out, but service can vary depending on the technician that is dispatched. Pros: Able to schedule a same day service call and technicians showed up within appointment window, providing a courtesy notification while they were en route--very much appreciated. Technicians were able to diagnose and fix the issue on the same visit. Cons: Communication was challenging. Two technicians arrived, and I was immediately informed that one did not speak English. The second did, but it was still difficult to understand (despite fact that I previously taught English as a Second Language). Throughout the visit, the two technicians talked between themselves and barely attempted to communicate with me, which I found a bit rude/off putting since I was present almost the entire time. Ultimately, I was provided a quote of $380 to replace a capacitor + $78 service visit/diagnostic fee. This is one of the few vendors that don't waive the service visit/diagnostic fee if they proceed with the repairs. I never questioned the $380 quote for capacitor replacement even though the part itself is relatively inexpensive. The invoice I was provided included a line stating "potential savings $50.05" with no explanation of how/when it could be applied. I contacted the office for clarification about the potential savings and why it wasn't applied, learning that it was potential savings if I joined the membership program, which was never offered or explained to me by the service tech. I also questioned why the service fee wasn't waived and the coordinator said she would need to speak with the technician. He told her that I had already agreed to the pricing (which was not clearly explained), though she admitted that the service call/diagnostic fee was waived for repairs exceeding $500 which sounded arbitrary and subjective. Made me feel like they added the $78 diagnostic fee because I was a sucker who was willing to pay. It's too bad my second experience left a bad taste, I normally go out of my way to support Asian-owned businesses. Their Yelp profile states "Our Comfort Advisors speak Mandarin, Korean, and Russian." What they don't speak apparently, is English. read more

We subsequently purchased two systems, one for the bedrooms and living room on the east side of the house, and a second one for the family room on the west side. I was amazed at how quickly the installation occurred. They obtained the building permit and then a crew of 4 workers completed the installation in 3 days. I have never had a more competent group of workers than those who installed my system. They were always courteous, always kept me in the loop when decisions needed to be made, and always thoroughly explained the options. We had the new Daikin Air Fit Heat Pump / AC installed in our almost 100 year old house this week here in San Pedro CA. First, Air Comfort Experts were all very nice and professional. They did an amazing job keeping everything clean through the process. As for the Daikin system itself. I'm very impressed. We've only had old style single stage systems (only runs at full temperature and full fan) in the past. Our house is finally comfortable. This system is amazing with the variable fan speed and temperature. The system runs more often at lower fan speeds to keep the house at a comfortable consistent temperature. It's extremely quiet and I don't even know when it's on. I've also been monitoring our electric meter and it's not using much electricity even though it runs consistently. The technician from Air Comfort was really nice and informative in servicing my a/c unit. I had an old unit to begin with and he performed tests to make sure it was still functioning properly. Thankfully nothing needed to be replaced immediately but he recommended a few items to consider in the near future such as cleaning the coils in order to extend the life of the unit just a little bit longer. They were in our basement, our attic, and even on top of our roof to service the AC units. They also installed sensors so we'll know if we ever have another leak of any kind. Had a 26 year old gas Carrier system that I wanted to replace before it broke down. This way I could properly research an electric heat pump replacement without rushing. Got quotes from four different companies. Some companies did not initially include a permit and HERS test in their price. This protects you from a shoddy installation and also qualifies you for the $3,000 rebate program that was available in December. Air Comfort Experts included from the start a HERS test and permit in their quote. I also found out that some companies send out what I call commission quoters. They get paid for selling you the product but have no real connection to the company installing your system. When I called Air Comfort Experts they answered the phone and Bulga was able to come out the same day. I was looking for a quote on three brands. I questioned Bulga on some aspects of a system because of what another company had said that was contrary to what he was saying. After he left I researched the issued and it turned out Bulga had the correct information. I decided on a Trane Heat Pump System that is very quiet in operation. They arrived as scheduled. Bulga came out at the start to make sure everything was ok and left me in the hands of O-D who was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had during the installation. The rebate check on the installation arrived in the time frame Bulga had indicated. Also Bethy in the office always followed up on any questions I had. I had Bulga give me a quote back on 2/23/23. We settled on the Daikin Fit 3-ton system with the Daikin One thermostat and DV36FECC14A air handler. The installation was done in 2 days and the crew was very efficient and pleasant. They completely removed my old system from the 90's. They made sure to wear shoe booties, and masks when in the house. They cleaned after themselves and were very respectful. The price for the system was very reasonable for an entire new system with new duct work, and relocating the air handler into the attic. Everything was great. They did a great job installing a catwalk and a light in the attic. The quality of work was excellent with installation. They even covered up the hole when my old furnace was. Permits were pulled and passed by the inspector as well as receiving the AQMD rebate after a few months. However, the system was proposed as a variable speed system. This would make you think that you could change the fan's speed manually but you cannot. It is dependent on the heat pump and thermostat. The reason I am bringing this up is the air return was placed in my main hallway between all of the bedrooms. When the system is on either heat or cool it sounds like a jet plane ready to take off. I had the Air Comfort team come out to see if there was anything they could do but they said the air handler is set and they cannot change any of the settings. They did install a couple of bafflers so the vent in the bedrooms would be quieter. I bought a dB meter and it's bouncing between 75-80db in my hallway. This is very loud for indoors. This is very disappointing. Also, the Daikin One thermostat is a piece of junk. It has frozen on me twice and I had to hard restart it twice. The wheel to change the temp is completely laggy and it takes almost a full revolution to change the temp by 1 degree. I miss my old Nest thermostat where the user interface was so much simpler and easier to use. Bulga said it would cost more to buy an adapter to use my Nest so I decided to get the Daikin thermostat. Most of the reviews for the Daikin Fit would indicate that this was a very quiet system but the air handler is terrible. I contacted Daikin and they said to reach out to the installer. I would give Daikin a one-star. I am feeling a bit embattled for giving only two stars but I specifically remember Bulga stating it is a variable speed system. I am giving Air Comfort Experts 2 stars because they sold me a loud system. That is one of the main reasons why I chose the Daikin System over the other cheaper systems was the idea of being able to control the speed of the air handler. I regret getting this Daikin FIT system. In the end, I have to live with this system and I cannot simply change the air handler which would cost me thousands more. I cannot run the system at night to sleep because it is too loud and my daughter refuses to sleep in her room because she says it is too loud as well. Ironically, the outdoor heat pump unit is extremely quiet and you can barely hear it when standing next to it. I really hope Daikin pushes out an update to the thermostat so we can change the fan settings. So I was looking for someone to install an A/C system that I had purchased myself. The owner matched the price of another quote yet asked for more money after yanking out the old unit. He says "this is because my A/C was getting expertly installed by professionals". The crew didn't speak a word of English so if you have any concerns good luck getting an answer. After the install I complained to the owner that the outside unit would not stop running. It just keeps blowing forever until you flip the breaker. The owner immediately blamed it on the A/C system. You have got to be kidding this is a brand new unit purchased from Home Depot. After weeks of troubleshooting with the manufacturer it turned out that they had completely miswired the whole system causing the condenser to not shut off. I would call these guys Air Comfort Thieves and rate them a zero. Customer support is non-existent. read more

After getting a few quotes, we decided to have Air Comfort Experts upgrade our HVAC with a heat pump in place of the aging traditional AC/furnace (which had trouble in the summer heat wave). They had equipment available (another bid we were interested in simply couldn't find the needed equipment), and were ready to go. Notably, they also offered a very attractive price for installing a Trane system with variable speed compressor and air handler (once you've had variable speed, you'll never be happy with old one-speed air handlers again!). The Trane equipment is generally highly rated, and we had good experience with Trane variable-speed AC at a previous house. The installation in October was smooth and professional, although a few key parts (the zone thermostats) were out-of-stock, which delayed completion of the job until early January. ACE also included the required HERS test and inspection fees in their bid, which I appreciated. And we just passed inspection with only extremely minor corrections! The pricing of heat pumps is a little crazy right now, since Federal incentives are kicking in and are quite complicated (depending on neighborhood, income, etc.), but we got a manufacturer discount and a small tax credit, and more importantly, got our system installed before there's a rush with the new, larger tax incentives. The system works very smoothly and is incredibly quiet. Unless you pay close attention, you simply don't know whether it's running or not. The Trane system has been around for a while, and works well. The only weak point is the Trane thermostats, whose software, website, and features are pretty dated (compared to Nest or Ecobee), and really need an update. Working with ACE, especially with Bethy at the office, was normally smooth. My one piece of feedback to ACE is to be a little more pro-active about communication and responding to messages, which sometimes took a while. But given their extremely competitive price, that was worth working through. read more
