Last fall my heat quit working, so I called another company. As luck would have it, by the time the technician came, the heat magically started working. The technician charged me $150, said there was nothing he could do since it was working. Of course about a month later, it quit again. After 3 cold days, I called Johnny's, which a friend recommended after they installed her system. What a difference! The technician found the problem and fixed it (a water leak had shorted out a connection--I think the first guy could have found this if he had looked). Then I asked him to look at my very old ac unit, just in case. He found an oil leak and something else that needed to be fixed. He fixed it at a reasonable price, and it's worked great all summer. So i called Johnnys AC & heating the other day when it was pouring rain. The phone lady was super communicative & she texted me back n forth exactly to the dot when the serviceman would be at my house. My heater just stopped working out of the blue. Vic came over super friendly n professional and he very quickly did a bunch of tests and diagnosed the problem. What a like about Vic n Johnnys is that he showed me everything and really checked the safety of the heater as well as the flame (my flame dial was extreme & it reflected that on my high bills) he turned down the flame, changed my filter (it was disgusting) and he diagnosed a broken fan after resetting n electric checking wires leading to fan. Vic showed up and every problem I had, or thought I was going to have, he fixed. He explained everything thoroughly and showed me exactly what he was replacing AND why. Even as someone who knows nothing about AC's I know nothing should look like it had burnt at some point or rusted to a level a tetanus shot should have come with it! My AC/Heat unit is from 2003. Probably hasn't been serviced in years. Luckily, and this is because of Vic, I don't have to replace it. They're going to be servicing my equipment from now on. My AC unit stopped blowing cold air & the inside room temperature would never reach the same temperature on thermostat. I had 2 different HVAC companies to come out & look at it, neither of them could find the problem and insisted nothing was wrong. Beware!! Do not use this Company! The technician, Vic, refused to go on my roof (where my AC is located), because their insurance won't let them go up a ladder higher than 16 feet. I explained to two of their sales reps that I have a 2 story Spanish home (20-30 feet up a ladder). I guessTotal waste of time. I ended up using Aire Serv of Pasadena, truly great professionals. And Aire Serv will only charge you $79.00 opposed to Johnny's $120.00 Consultant Fee. Vic is very knowledgeable. Honest and most importantly caring. My heat started acting out at my house for about 6 days. I called 2 different company for a service call. They came, gave 2 different opinions (one says is the board that will take weeks to get it, the other said it's my ducts) on how to repair and presented both scenarios as expensive and not reliable. Both of them suggested replacing the whole system. They still charged their service fee along with their estimate. I figure might as well call Johnny's Air Conditioning for a free estimate as they are pretty local to me. Vic came over to do the estimate and it was pretty late in the day (as I have scheduled it late). We got into talking as to what the other technicians were saying. He also noticed that my two young children were bundled up and I have the space heater running. He offered to check out the issue for me and so I agreed. After a few minutes, he discussed how he diagnosed the issue and what he thinks is the problem, and it was not related to what the others had said. It was a thermostat and filter issue, both of which he has in his truck. He also noticed that the outlet was not connected to the outside. After doing all the work and explaining what I have to do, so this problem will not happen again. He stayed until the temperature at the house reached a comfortable level. Vic was very knowledgeable and courteous, but most importantly, very personable and caring. My family has been sleeping comfortably. As far as pricing, it is very good considering the parts he used and the amount of work he had to do. I now have some time to save for a system, but will not look elsewhere. Johnny's team installed a new heat pump and ductwork in our crawlspace, and made several new vent and return holes based on his expertise on what would be most energy efficient and comfortable. The installation was performed well, but we had some lingering issues, including vibrations and loudness from the fan blower. Last week, Southern California was preparing for one of the coldest winters that we have experienced, and that evening I felt very cold, and saw that my heating system, that had been working earlier in the day, was malfunctioning. The next morning I called my regular service company, and they were not very helpful, so I looked at the reviews online, and called a few companies that were vague about when they could look at my heating system I was freezing and was also concerned about my little dog. I called Johnny's and they were busy thar day, but I explained my situation to the very kind lady, Rhia, I am sure I am misspelling her name, but she was very understanding and sympathetic, and said that she would make an effort to see if any technician might have a small window of time to at least let me know what the problem is, and maybe it was a quick fix. She contacted me and said Vic would be by shortly to diagnose the problem. Vic was very prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. My system is rather old, so I was not surprised that I needed a new motor, which needed to be ordered, and it was a very rainy Friday, so I knew that it would bot be available until after the weekend. Vic was kind enough to lend me a spaceheater, and had someone drop it off. The motor arrived on Tuesday, and Vic promptly brought it over and quickly and efficiently installed it. He was very honest about exactly what I needed,not trying to sell unneeded equipment. The price for the motor and labor was quite reasonable and fair for the project. I've always found the company to be very responsive and willing/able to send a tech out right away. Last week was pretty cold, so of course the heater goes down. I call Johnny's and they can send someone out right away. I'm happy to see Vic, a friendly face, who serviced the system previously. He immediately diagnoses the problem, and though it's not good news - a hard to find part needs to be ordered - he is clear and honest about the timeframe to fix the heater. Here's why I will have this company work me when I need them: Today, I went about cleaning the condenser coil at my home. I pulled the fuses, took off the top and fan, pulled off the metal shroud pieces, sprayed it down with coil cleaner several times... rinsing in between. Then, I put it all back together and started it up. No good. Arg, I knew I had two out of three wires in the right place, but I had brain-farted on the third. I tried plugging that brown wire several places, but the thing wouldn't work. I went to Yelp and figured I had to pop $100 for a service call just to get it running before my wife got home from work. The person responding to me from Johnny's told me where to attach the wire by email. I followed the instructions and baddabing, baddaboom it worked! That person could have popped by and made a minimum service fee for 5 second's work, but instead helped me for nothing.
