I have had solar from Clean Initiative for 5 years and despite promising annual servicing and cleaning, they have never reached out to do this. Secondly, the service in my sim card went out after 2 years and I had to figure out myself how to get it to connect to WiFi. Now after tracking my usage I realize my panels are only producing 78% of what they used to. Calling their phone number always gives a busy tone and their support email just bounces. I just received a SCE settlement payment bill from 9/11/24 - 9/26/25 at 560.00 because the panels are not producing enough energy. Also we were promised a generator which we never got. Received solar consultation with Sean for GAF Timberline solar shingle product this past month. He was humble in presenting facts and did not have over aggressive sales vibe. Sean was thorough on presenting the cost benefit of going solar and differences in solar roof shingle instead of traditional solar panels. He responded to laundry list of follow up questions within 6-24 hours including weekends. Also Sean sent a follow up 5-7 days after last contact to ask any further questions to help. I did not get the pushy sales feeling so able to objectively decide on the product and took my time on decision. Unfortunately the numbers did not work for me and did not start contract. read more

Do not use this company. I have called for the last two weeks on almost daily basis to get a technician out to resolve my solar panels error code, but I have not been able to talk to a single person. All the phone calls go to voicemail and emails are not returned. I've left more than 5 voicemails with none of them returned. I even called the manufacturer and they said they need the installer to go to the site and call them to resolve the error code and there's nothing I can do. This is ridiculous way of doing business. Clean Initiate Solar installed the solar system at my house. I have an issue where the house battery doesn't power the house when the grid power goes down, even though the house battery is charged. The first time I called in, someone answered, and they responded with "we'll check some diagnostics and call you back in 10 minutes." They never called, and that was about 3 months ago. I've called them and left messages, and emailed, a total of about 20-30 times. They have not answered or respond since the first "we'll get back to you." I will be filing this review in as many forums I can, and with the Better Business Bureau, as a warning to other potential customers. Update: after posting the review above several places, Clean Initiative immediately reached out, sent out a service tech, and fixed the problem. I'm going with 4/5 stars because there still appears to be no way to reach customer service without going to such drastic lengths, but now I'm happy with the solar installation. read more

I've been looking for an honest solar company and was mostly reached out by Home Depot or Costco. I came across Clean Initiative and met up with Sean. He explained thoroughly the differences between releasing and buying and helped make my decision easier. I signed up with him the same day for both my house and my mum. I'm happy with the result. They were quickly came to my place all the way in Irvine. Work with Edison to get my electrical panel approved in dealing with association. They make the process super easy and ease some of the extra costs that we additionally to the installation. We ran into some delays but it wasn't their fault. It was mostly due to Edison and rainy season. They also helped install my Tesla wall charger at no cost. I would recommend Clean Initiative to anyone. I had Solar Panels Installed by this company a year ago. It has been by far the worst experience dealing with them. I have called time, after time, after time and I never get a call back. We payed the panels in FULL and there has never been a follow up courtesy call to see if any problems. I would NOT recommend this company even if it was the last company on earth. The salesman "Daniel" came into our home selling us himself and the company and yet, it was just a show to have us make business with them. Not only that, but every staff we dealt with even told us that the company was short staffed and had no one to call clients back. Clean Initiative Solar has been incredible! Install was completed in just a couple weeks after signing the purchase agreement. The install process was great too. We got a large panel system that took a LOT of work to install on our very old house. Mark and the rest of the crew were clean and communicative while they worked. They gave advance notice when the power would be off, and made sure to get our approval on where wires/ boxes would be installed and routed before starting the work. After getting solar installed from clean Initiative the regret began. The customer service is sadly lacking. The production of my solar is not what it should be, according to City of Pasadena. I was able to get one person on the phone who pointed me to "an app" I could download to track the solar production, never was told about it before. I have asked if someone can come out to make sure everything is working properly, after several emails and phone calls I have not received an answer to that request. We tried to discuss with someone in person but they closed their office in Pasadena and re-located to Riverside. A very bad experience and I cannot recommend them. read more

I signed up in March 2023 and have been paying for solar panels that I'm still waiting to get activated. The sales rep has responded and directed me to different people who either don't respond, don't answer or don't help. They now told me they are coming out to upgrade my panels. Why? They are new, have never been used and we're waiting for Edison to come inspect and activate them. It doesn't make any sense. Looks like Clean Initiative is scrambling to make it look like they are doing something about this. Regret doesn't begin to describe my feelings. They keep putting the blame on Edison. I tried calling Clean Initiative 833-446-2532 which is no longer in service. We're now in December and I am paying for an Edison bill and solar panels that don't even work. Beware of these Pushy sales people going door to door. All they care about is getting you to prequalify for a loan. We heard the sales pitch and did the "soft pull" credit check, they pre approved me for a 100K loan and wanted me to sign a contract on the spot. I immediately said no and asked them time to review. I did some simple research and found other companies who were charging half the cost. After they came back again to follow up I let them know I decided to go with another company the sales rep looked visibility upset and was still trying to sell me even though I had politely declined, to the point I had to ask them to leave. It has taken over 18+ months, and at every step, I have had to intervene to make sure that things are being processed, paperwork has been submitted, inspections are being called for. It has taken way to much of my time, and now that we are down to the last city inspection for the solar battery, the company has been utterly unresponsive. Since March 2024. This is holding up our entire renovation project and we can't get our overall building permit finaled. I had Clean Initiative (CI) install a rooftop solar system at my home four years ago. I felt at the time that the sales, design and install experience were good. I even recommended them to friends. However this past year I noticed a significant degradation of power generation. At first I thought the panels just needed cleaning, but soon the system stoped producing any power. I reached out to my primary contact person at CI, but he was no longer with the company. Then I went onto their website. I saw they moved their offices from Pasadena to Riverside. I tried contacting them by phone and email, but neither are operational. I went to the California Contractor website to check CI's status. Their license has been suspended. I purchased my system (versus finance or lease), and it now appears that finding someone to diagnosis and fix the system will be difficult, if not impossible. If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate them. I don't need to warn people at this point about using CI. It appears one couldn't contract with them even if they desperately wanted to. It's too late for me. read more

Clean Initiative came to me after the big wind storm in 2022 damaged my roof said they could get my roof repaired at no cost. They said they have lawers and meteorologists and guaranteed me they would win a lawsuit against my Insurance company. So my insurance company sent a person out to inspect and said there was nothing wrong and canceled me the following month. I had to get new insurance and my yearly rate went from $800 a year to $2800. Over the 2 years of waiting they kept telling me not to worry as my house was being damaged by all the rain. It 'll all be mitigated and will be repaired along with the roof they kept telling me.They ended up losing the lawsuit and now I'm paying and extra 2k a year for my new policy and still have a damaged roof and now damaged ceilings too. read more

My Folks tried canceling but the company was trying to use scare tactics on my parents, stating that they will take them to collections for whatever money that needs to be paid. Tried stating that permits were all already pulled. I contacted my friend who works in the solar business and he told me that my parents completely over paid, contacted the city and the city informed me that permits were never pulled. So they were telling my parents false information!! Sean was our sales rep, my mom is partially blind from when I so she was not able to read that contract, English event my dad's first language. My parents were completely taken advantage of! When I found out what my parents got into and I searched up the company and found how many reviews their were and how much of a scam this was, i absolutely shut it down!
