Maggie May has the best onion soup! I really enjoy it:) On Friday night, I lost my wallet. I didn't realize it until the next morning. I called the restaurant and left a message on the answer machine bc the restaurant only opens at 5pm. The owner called me back around noon. Arrived for dinner around 8pm on a Friday night, it was pretty empty only two tables eating and a few people at the bar. We tried the stuffed mushrooms, nothing special, needed salt. Didn't like that it was sitting in marinara sauce. The fish n chips did not feel very traditional, breaded and not beer battered. Fish was thin and not flakey plus the tartar sauce wasn't good. Sheppards pie was decent, would have preferred a tad more gravy. Tried the ribs, they were good, fall off the bone, but they use some kind of sweet Thai sauce, would have preferred a bbq sauce but it was fine. Chicken pot pie was so disappointing besides the crust which was very good. It was watery, bland, huge chunks of potatoes, and the chicken was dry. I always come here when I want to sit down and have the most delicious comfort meal. Although I might be Asian the food is absolutely satisfying and never to salty or overly greasy. The portions are always generous and filled with love. Service is always great and the waiters are super friendly. Ambiance is super nice and calm. Conclusion it's one of my favorites in my area. This is my go to spot on bell blvd in bayside when I'm looking for a local restaurant that can't go wrong. This restaurant has been around for 20 years and the owner cares so deeply for his customers, restaurant and food. He goes out every day to the market to see what is fresh to prepare the meals for the day. Every time you go, you will be served table bread with olive oil. You can really taste the rich olive flavor. The chicken dishes are great and have a wonderful sauce that does not feel heavy. It costs the chicken just enough. Even though it's chicken breast, it is not dry. You can choose mashed potatoes, fries or vegetables as a side for the entree. The pizza is a new addition. The tomato sauce is homemade and not tart. It's a great addition to the menu. This restaurant also a bar for anyone just looking to have a drink and a good time. This is a great chill spot to have a drink with friends and catchup. I like the old fashions they have here. I came here with my friends this past weekend and I got the smoking bullet last time and it's interesting watching the bartender make the drink and adding the smoke in to make the smokiness flavor. I also got the hot toddy as that's a great drink for the winter. In the evening they have popcorn the give to the customers so that's a great snack to have with my drink. I'll give anyplace a good rating if they know how to make eggs over easy correctly...and they do at Maggie Mays! (You wouldn't believe how many breakfast places don't know how to make proper eggs!). The thing that stood out for me about Maggie Mays (besides the food), is that their staff is young. Now, the cynic may say that they're just trying to get cheap labor but I say, Big Kudos to management for giving these fresh-faced young adults a chance to get some real work experience! Your classic Irish pub...that only accepts cash (thumbs down) and had only 2 brews on tap last Thursday (again, thumbs down). The apps we ordered, however, were pretty solid. Meatballs (homemade but not always available) were tasty and mozzarella sticks were good though not spectacular. With so many eateries on Bell Blvd, one of my sisters, had put the bug in my ear about Brunching here for my post Birthday celebration. Maggie Mays lets out the typical Irish pub feel: the dark woods and a sizable bar. For $11.95, you get 2 Mimosas, a Fruit Cup, Entree (French Toast or Eggs any style or an Omelette), bacon or sausage (I passed on both) and Coffee or Tea. Not a bad deal. Right? On paper, Menu doesn't have a wide range of selections but for the most part, it offered really basic Brunch items. Mimosas were a huge disappointment and came up extremely short on the bubbly and felt, I was drinking straight up, iced orange juice. As was, my Seltzer & cranberry, that was chilled but tasted bland- while I waited for my sisters earlier. Luckily, my Omelette, tasted good and was fully prepared with fresh mushrooms (not canned), cheddar cheese and a side of nicely-charred, thin Breakfast Potatoes. My Niece, sisters and Mumsy, all complimented and enjoyed their burgers. All in all, No complaints on the food or from the staff as we were served by a couple young girls who were sweet and attentive (and the tall guy, also). Came here for the first time for Sunday Brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Not sure if we just got lucky or 2:30pm is just the perfect time to eat brunch here because the place wasn't packed and we were seated immediately. For $11.95 you can basically eat like a pig. You get a delicious bread basket for the table and a cup of fruit. You can choose from a mimosa, screwdriver or a Bloody Mary plus coffee or Tea, then you get to pick an Entree. The selection for the Entree's are deliciously yummy but I kept it traditional and went for the Eggs Benedict. I consider myself an Eggs Benedict connoisseur and as you all know it's all about the Hollandaise sauce. What can I say....they NAILED IT!!!!! This place is a solid brunch standard and a Really good deal! The food rates a three as the cocktails that come with brunch are very watered down. Omelettes are lovey, scrambled eggs are nice and soft, not overcooked. Steak was cooked med, I asked for med rare but it is a fairly thin steak. Still a mild flavor and perfect for steak and eggs. Potatoes were cooked with pepper me and onions for that warm yummy sweetness. The bread basket and fruit cups that accompany the meal were a spot on! Nice touch but work on the cocktails folks ! Perfect well done burgers! Trust me not too many places know how to cook a "no blood" burger!we ordered the wings too..yummy taste. I had two dirty martinis, hubby had a light beer,son had water our friends introduced this place to us last month! Winner winner!We came here with my sons basketball team,after winning. So my wife and I were invited to Maggie May's for our friends sons first birthday party. The venue was attractive, well lit and had a friendly atmosphere. We were greeted by the staff upon arrival and advised of the gatherings location. The staff was incredibly attentive making sure all of the guests had ample beverages and food. This reminds me of the old Donovan of bayside. Wood paneled walks and reasonable prices. We went on a Thursday night and there were few diners. The standout meal was the pork chop,completely finished. The fish and chips were not as expected one big flat piece of breaded fish instead of battered coated. The fish and fries needed salt. The chicken cordon blue again differs from expectation as it was 2 flat pieces of chicken breast with a slice of ham atop and a mustard mustard Dijon sauce. It was very good as were the asparagus and real mashed potatoes accompanying it. Chicken Ala Maggie also had two pieces of chicken, covered with mushrooms, artichoke hearts and onions in a cream sauce. Bread is only given if you order an entree but they brought it to you(two pieces each) after your entree, very strange. Maybe they forgot. All meals were flavorful and hot. Only a few dessert choices but nearby Carvels was our choice. Service was slow strange as I said only two other tables occupied but there is a back room so maybe other diners were in there. There was a large bar in front. Cold outside but we were warm so good heating. Municipal parking lot at end of block with some metered street parking as well. My husband and I have been to Maggie Mays before for lobster night. Although the restaurant was dead that night, we wanted to try their brunch on Sunday since we had really good service and great food. First Impression: When you first enter, there is a long bar to your left. You have to walk about halfway into the restaurant if you want to be seated so the layout is a bit awkward. They have indoor seating which is dark and an enclosed patio. For brunch today, we asked for outdoor seating as the inside just seemed a bit too dark. We had our daughter in her carrier and they tried to seat us at a two person table and that just wasn't going to work because I'm not putting my daughter on the ground. So I asked if we could sit at a four person table off to the side. Food: Honestly, I had high expectations for food from lobster night and they did not disappoint. Their brunch is $12 and includes your choice of Bloody Mary, Mimosa or Screwdriver. Any additional drinks are $2 each. You also get a bread basket of assorted breads, jam and butter, fruit cup, entree and coffee or tea. Bread Basket - all the baked goods were fresh. Our favorite was what looked like a scone with raisins and nuts. I wish the butter wasn't chilled as it is impossible to spread but this can be overlooked as the bread is also delicious without the butter. Fruit Cup - a mix of grapes, pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, and mine had what was a speck of a strawberry. Fresh, ripe and not mushy. Mimosa and Screwdriver - heavier on the OJ than the vodka or champagne but you can't complain considering the first drink is included with your meal. Both were garnished with a fresh orange slice. Burger - the Fries were just as delicious as I remembered them from my fish and chips. Juicy burger cooked to order. Good portion size. Recommended. Eggs Benedict - served with potatoes, onions and red bell pepper. The potatoes were buttery and well seasoned. The eggs were poached beautifully and served on top of grilled ham and a toasted English muffin. Hollandaise sauce was definitely made from scratch and also delicious. Also a good portion size. Recommended. Coffee - on the strong side which is how we personally like our coffee. Overall - we were dying on the patio. My husband was literally pouring sweat. There is one portion that does not have the sun blocked and they had a heater blaring so we were baking at the table. My husband had finished his screwdriver and water but did not get a refill. He was so overheated he had my water as well. Coffee was also empty. Another couple came in as we were paying the bill. They were being seated next to the heater in the sun and said they would rather wait than die in the heat. Service can be improved for brunch but we didn't see a lot of servers considering how packed the restaurant got. Food was good but restaurant setup and service could improve. read more

All the employees are always super friendly. Pay no attention to a certain reviewer who has a gripe with this place, giving bad reviews based on her/his/its/their/or whatever pronoun it goes by, political beliefs. I walk by this place so many times while hanging on Bell Blvd and I'm so glad I'm finally decided to give it a try. First of, they advertise a brunch deal for $11.95 which includes a free bread basket, fruit, an entree (reasonable options from salad, burger, eggs and French toast) and two drinks (mimosa, screwdriver, Bloody Mary). My husband and I were really impressed with the amount of food for the price. I got the eggs with buttery home fries and my husband got the burger and both were pretty good. We both got mimosas and they were both decent. A little light on the alcohol but aren't all mimosas that way. The service was excellent and the staff was very attentive. I will be back and highly recommend it for brunch. They also have a Monday night special that I def wanna check out! read more

Visited last weekend for a bridal shower. The service was horrific and event did not start on time. It's unfortunate because the bride was supposed to be surprised but ended up walking in when bridesmaids were scrambling around to put up decorations since servers allowed people to sit and eat when the girls were supposed to set up. Towards the end of the party, there were ants all over the bar which then got all over the desserts the girls made which is absolutely disgusting. At one point... the maid of honor was clearing plated from the tables because the busboys were so slow. Only one server for 30-40 women. However a few weeks ago I was sitting at the bar and saw this sign across from me. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights Maggie's has a good lobster deal. For only $33 (CASH ONLY) which includes tax and tip, you get a 1 1/4lb lobster, 2 clams, about 8 mussels, corn on the cob, baked potato and a salad plus 2 alcoholic beverages. I do remember the lobster special being a little better a year ago. It seems like they gave you more clams, but it's still good for the price. Not much ambiance. A step up from an old man's bar and they do have outside seating. If not for the lobster, I'm sure I would never venture in there. Worth checking out on Tuesday or Wednesday nights though. read more

Had a great time celebrating our friends engagement party - nice place with good drinks and a fun atmosphere. However, myself and several guests were offended by a sign posted on the bar's television (see attached photo). Our friends are saving their hard-earned money for their wedding and everything associated with it, and their celebration was an inappropriate platform to make such a divisive statement. If they wish to lose money by taking such a stand, then they should do it on their own time and not when it affects individuals who have paid good money to host a party at that location. Very disappointed! Wanted to book the back room. I have a party of 25. Was told it was available. Should be no problem. Left my number for Cait to call me Never get a call. I call, she answers but gives me the "oh yeah I need to check with the owner a I'll call you tonight or tomorrow" Never get a call!! I call again and she brushes me off. Acts like she forgot, then says well " it's not available." Hmm really!!! ok then what about the next day the Sunday. She Tells me to check with my family and call her about the Sunday date. I said d I don't need to check with them I'm asking is it available. She's like I have to check upstairs with boss to call her back. They are very accomodating , letting us come in early to decorate and helped us arrange tables to fit a photo booth. Food was delicious and a great time was had by all.
