Came into this Madewell while in town visiting family. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but wanted to see if there was anything worth using a couple rewards on that were set to expire soon. I have to say, this was probably the best customer service experience I've ever had in store. They were so kind and attentive! Jenny was great, and super memorable. And the outfit she wore that day was so cute!! I ended up leaving with a hooded sweatshirt I've been eyeing for a while, and a French hair pin that I am super obsessed with! My favorite store in the mall! Here's the thing about Madewell: you should almost never pay full price here. They almost always have sales or discounts going on. I love that when things go on sale, they typically stack a discount and it has an added percent off! This store has the cutest close for comfy casual. Great clothes to wear to work as well as to relax in with friends on the weekend. They have it all! I love their cute scarves and super comfy jeans. If you are planning to buy jeans, I also highly recommend bringing in an old pair. They give you $20 for recycling an old pair (of any brand). read more

My wife loves their jeans and I love their leather couch, which is where I normally wait patiently for her to finish her hunt for another outfit of the day or days. Had an employee ask if they could help me find any sizes. I asked if they had a 30 or 31. The response was "oohh... maybe in the back.." in a very judgmental tone. I honestly can't believe this response is acceptable. This is literally the equivalent to a 10 or 12. I'm 5'7". Sure, I could lose a few pounds, but are you kidding me? Went into Madewell looking for a striped shirt I found online and wanted to try on before I bought the shirt. The workers were friendly and asked if I needed any help looking around. The store and fitting rooms were clean too. When I finally went to the register, I was charged around $26 for the shirt and I was confused because Madewell's official website offered the exact same shirt and size for $19.99. I had to show the cashier the price on my phone to get the price lowered to what the price should have been. I was disappointed this store did not keep up with the Madewell's website sales and adjusted their prices accordingly. read more

Cute stuff and I like the total privacy of the dressing area. One worker was very helpful. Have to add that many of the workers were odd and looked at me like they were annoyed I was in their store. Usually, I'd chalk it up to bored store workers being wary of crazy customers but the same workers were very sweet and welcoming to a different customer. I honestly never think race is the factor but the vibe was so noticeably off that I came to yelp to see if other people noticed it. Some clothing brands tell their workers to basically ignore anyone who does not fall in their "imagined demographic" and the "look" of the workers is very uniform, so it got my thoughts heading in that direction. I hope it was just an off day because their stuff is cute! And I appreciate that girl helping me. read more

I was so excited about my trip to Madewell. Recently found out they had plus sizes, the letter on the window said they had sizes through 24W. Even inside it said "Ask about extended sizes." I was over the moon. Don't even bother, this place is nowhere near as "inclusive" as they claim to be. I asked about extended sizes and was scoffed at, if not fat shamed. "Ohhh yea, those are online. I mean if you want to try them on in store you'll have to go to UTC. We definitely don't carry those here." No sincerity, no apology, just hurry up and get your fat ass outta here because we definitely can't help you. And we won't even try. Madewell, if you ever see this, train your employees on basic customer service. I was prepared to spend a significant amount of money in your store and will now be taking my patronage elsewhere. read more

It's a hit or miss here as the customer service is lacking but I am sure there are some employees who are friendly. No offers to help, as I had to flag down someone to let me use the fitting room. The shift supervisor I believe was extremely rude as I was asking about the free tailoring service that they offer if you buy in store only she mentioned that Madewell products sold elsewhere don't get free tailoring as I asked about Madewell products sold in Nordstrom if I could take it in. As I asked more questions she said that I could ask Nordstrom if they can tailor my clothes. Gee sorry for asking too many questions just curious that's all. Wow I'm impressed with the service by Madewell. We like the style, the quality and the service and have always shopped here. They make a great fitting pair of jeans, I have several and love them. However, the zippers on favorite pair of Madewell jeans broke while my son learned to do laundry (don't know how). I brought it in and Madewell replaced the zippers free of charge. Heard some fantastic things about this store from others and decided to actually walk in and check it out. Upon entering, two women walked through the doors before me and were immediately greeted. As for me, I was right behind them (couldn't miss me) I was NOT acknowledge and no word from both the girls behind the counter. I walked around the store and was not greeted again and even had a $99 pair of jeans I wanted to try on. Roamed around the sale items, which btw- had some really great prices! So I grabbed a shirt that would go w/the jeans. I was standing by the fitting room and no one came for what seemed like for 10 mins. So I ended up putting the jeans and shirt down. Walked towards the exit door and let alone, not another greeting but a conversation between the two workers on what they did last night and how one of the girls is really upset with her boyfriend! Madewell used to be one of my FAVORITE clothing stores. I love the style and quality of the products at madewell. However, never in my life have I encountered more shallow, disrespectful and snooty employees in a store. The environment is straight up hostile and I'm never greeted or acknowledged when I enter the store. I see the employees chatting and talking amongst themselves while ignoring customers that need help. I always leave empty handed despite wanting to make purchases because I feel as though they don't even want or appreciate my business. Such a shame madewell picks such rude employees to represent them because the clothes are really cute. read more

Have always loved Madewell's style, and have only been to their SoHo store in Manhattan. Was happy to see they had a store in Fashion Valley. There's a certain price point where I expect better service. I expect a greeting and if I am looking for a size in a stack of clothes, would love to get some help. Didn't happen here. Their team members were just hanging out in a cluster (I work in retail so this is a major pet peeve) the whole time we were there. I must have looked through several stacks of clothes before walking out the door with no purchase. Now that I read the other reviews, I see they are a new store. I love Madewell and had a particularly positive experience at this branch. Sam was extremely helpful with a complicated return. She was very fast and efficient! Jennifer (I think that was her name! She was rocking stripes and plaid simultaneously) was extremely helpful with a denim decision. She was honest about how much a pair of vintage jeans stretched out and admitted that they fit a lot differently than she'd personally hoped, as they stretched out around the groin. Honest customer service is a game changer for me! Even though I tend to frequent the shop in North County, it made me want to drive back down to Fashion Valley next time I make a Madewell purchase. San Diego finally got a Madewell store! About time... If you love J Crew and you're in your in your 20s then you're going to adore Madewell. It is like J Crew but more fun and airy. I love their tops, they honestly cater to those who are addicted to button down shirts. Their shoe selection is great too but their shoes are quite pricey. I have to say the store is definitely on the pricier side but the items are gorgeous. I can't wait till they start building up a better sales rack though. The staff is incredibly friendly and the store is just adorable. I will definitely be coming back every time I come to Fashion Valley. read more

Most are good at anticipating to help, some kinda ignore you, but there is one gentleman in particular who asks me everytime I step into the Fashion Valley store, "You OK?"... We made a specific trip out to the Fashion Valley mall (first time since the pandemic has started) to make a return and when we got to the Madwell store there was a handwritten sign on the door that said "we will be closed from 3:30-4:30". As we attempted to walk in at 3:20 we got stopped and were told they were closing. We asked if we could return the one item since it was still 10 minutes before their closing time, but the employee would still not let us in. We specifically checked the time online before coming and would not have gone at all if we had known that, not to mention it wasn't even 3:30 yet. We were extremely disappointed in this interaction, and also had our two month old baby with us which makes it even more difficult. Madewell has always been the store I shop at the most but after this experience I am not so sure anymore. read more

Madewell has some great clothing and jewelry that I own. However, whenever I go to this location the employees there never greet or ask if their customers need any help. They just talk amongst themselves and seem to not care about making profit. I work at a place that customers and guests are always number 1. I find it very rude when employees at stores never acknowledge their customers or care to help. Doors should be open in light of Covid to improve circulation. One of the only stores at the mall that doesn't adhere to this, especially given how small the space is! I also found the closed door policy quite difficult when I was with my baby in her stroller. I can't imagine a handicapped person in a wheelchair being able to easily access with those heavy doors closed! read more

Attended the Grand Opening event and I must say they put on a lovely little party! I even got a free polka dot clutch with my purchase. The store was beautiful. It was very obvious that this is a JCREW spin off but the prices still get pretty steep for a dress. The prices definitely range from $ - $$$. Jewelry prices are fair $, shirt and jean prices are medium $$ and dress prices are through the roof $$$. I just don't really like spending 100+ on a dress unless it's a super special occasion. Overall I think this new addition to fashion valley is great. It fits perfectly with the demographic. I was toying with working with a stylist at your Fashion Valley store for new jeans and a wardrobe update. The vibe in this store is ...stuffy. My daughter and I were in the store for 25 mins and not one sales person said hello or acknowledged us. There were only a few customers in the store on a Saturday afternoon so it wasn't like it was Black Friday. The store was packed with displays of merchandise. Hi The Jean display took up a large part of the room. I was going to try on some jeans based on the sales persons recombination for my body type. But the sales person who a few feet away said nothing. The sale section is bits full on it I'mmm a will not be going back to your fashion valley location. I was so disappointed with this Madewell. I LOVE MADEWELL. I'm so glad they finally opened up at Fashion Valley. Madewell's style is turning a new leaf and I can appreciate everything that they are currently doing. Great denim, tops and dress selection! Like most of the stores, the SAs all look like fresh-faced college co-eds. A few of them tend to be on the shy side (probably their first jobs) but most of them and the manager who rang me up was friendly and knowledgeable. LOVE. Thank God this store is good. I swear coming from nyc , even Atlanta (lenox square mall is one of the countries best) makes shopping in other cities disappointing . I thought fashion vallley would fill my void, but it is 50/50 . Some good some eh. But madewell.....oh thank heavens. It's just like my favorite one in soho and better than atlanta (its not popular in the south) . The clothes were cute, had everything, I like the set up, the clothes are put together nicely so you can see what looks good together and the sale section in the back is really good. I got a belt for 25 $. Half off. There jeans are the best thing they have. I love all there clothes. The only thing I don't recommend is purses. I had one and the leather gets dirty and they wear out quickly for $200. Spend the 200$ on a better quality purse. Or use the money for other things here. I will say it's for a certain type of look , don't come in expecting forever 21 or urban, its like j crew or the loft but a bit more casual. It makes me think of Cameron diaz or a super models style. Expensive, but cool clothes. You end up looking like you aren't trying hard but look so put together and stylish. If that's your thing, come here ! read more

My wife and I walked in, made our way around the front displays while a associate strolled right past us without acknowledgement...very rude but not unexpected from this location because it wasn't the first time. We literally walked around the entire sales floor, passed in front of two other associates and still nothing, no hi how are you...no good afternoon...they almost seemed to avoid eye contact as an excuse to not greet people or even acknowledge their existence.
