Walking through this shop is always amazing and I'm always tempted to buy something whether it's for gifting, for myself or for my pup Fendi, who loves a stroll through the shop. There's usually a one person staffer who's not really helpful, but leaves you alone and doesn't bother you as you browse through many eye catching wide selection of stuff most probably over priced, but at least you didn't need to fly to Mexico Although Bazaar Del Mundo means Bazaar of the World, most of the contents are of Mexican origin, various regions of Mexico, but still within the country of Mexico. We were not greeted with a hello. We were greeted with, "we close in 5 minutes". I responded with, "hello, how are you? Yes we are aware you close, in 10 minutes, we will be quick". We went upstairs and we were greeted with, "we close in 3 minutes". Just awful customer service! We took a few seconds to admire the beautiful artwork and left. This was Tuesday, Aug 12th. These two older saleswomen really made our visit sad and we won't be back. I understand, as I work in retail, how it is to have customers coming in right before closing but I would never be so rude. A simple "hello, welcome in, please be aware we will be closing at 6" would have been fine! Not even a smile or a response to my greeting from either of them... Just evil stares. Such a shame, I had a big purchase in mind that I will be buying elsewhere now.

I moved away from San Diego 10 years ago, so I was in SD to spend Christmas with my mom. While in town, I wanted to go to Old Town to pick up my favorite food at one of the restaurants in Old Town, but I thought I'd look around at some of the shops since I've been away for so long. I stopped into the Johnson House and immediately wondered why I had never bought anything there. Everything in there is so fabulous. There was a purse there that was so shiny and pretty, and it kept calling to me: "You want me. Buy me. I'll be your Christmas present. I love you and I know you love me." Well... how could I deny that little purse a forever home? I bought it and used it that very night at a Christmas Eve dinner party. From now on, whenever I visit my mom, I'm going to go to the Johnson house and make a purchase. I can't wait to see what I'm going to buy the next time I'm in San Diego. :) P.S. My mom and I had Christmas buffet at Humphreys on 12/25 and I put my little purse on our table as a centerpiece. It was so pretty! The best part is that within five minutes, a customer walked past our table and told me that my purse made the perfect centerpiece! And it did! It really did! I LOVE my colorful gem purse. Thank you, Johnson House!

The merchandise is fresh, fashion forward, and amazing. The selection is updated weekly, and there are always incredible finds. Jewelry and handbags are my kryptonite, and this boutique is particularly dangerous in that regard, as they have an amazing assortment of both, and most all of it is affordable. This is just a great place to come be "fashion-inspired", and be around some awesome people. Valerie is just an all around cool person, and has amazing energy. And as an added must see, her mom is an artist that creates incredible couture skeletons that you must, must see to really appreciate. They are absolute works of art, and I am happy to own one. Don't miss this great little piece of heaven on W. Lewis Street, and be sure to stop in and visit With Love, the paperie and gift shop across the street, while you are at it.

It's a small funky boutique called Le Bel Age, smack dab in the middle of Mission Hills shopping district on West Lewis. I'm a fan for the simple reason that my wife loves this place. She always picks up some funky jewelry, and the place generally makes her happy. And you know what they say, right? Happy wife, happy life. Ok, so in short, they've got cool women's fashion, cool handbags (my wife picked up one of these too), and lots of fun and cool trinkets to buy. I always let her spend some money here with the implicit understanding that I'll get laid that night, so how can I possibly not be a fan of Le Bel Age? ;)

We met Hannah and Hannah who were running the shop and they were absolutely lovely! You can tell they put so much time and effort into making this place what it is. The prices are so fair and what thrifting is supposed to be. Their clothing is $4 dollars and their shoes are inexpensive as well. Their knick knacks were also very well priced and I got a computer bag that was brand new for $12 dollars. They also had mystery fun bags and we HAD to snag one, for $3 it's worth it in the fun of opening it alone. We ended up with some blankets, hats, and a gps and we had a blast tearing it open in the car (we couldn't wait). They also are a plant shop with lots of greenery all over and plants to purchase. I have a black thumb so I stayed away but the prices for them were also unbeatable. I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out. We love how they've curated the space to be and it's so worth the trip.

Besides the fact that parking is a frank issue in this location, what with currently unenforceable requirements to pay for parking (either managed by the private lot or by the City), assuming this is also meant for people who are just stopping by to drop something off, this location is small but very quaint. It is very prone to being very crowded. However, the décor is a worthy sight for sore eyes: it truly is a lovely setup they have. I encountered a couple of lovely women who appeared to be running the shop, and inquired about how much clothing they're willing to take. It seems that they can only take a heavily limited amount of such, and I was able to drop off a kitchen trash bag's worth of clothes. I didn't complain, because I understand (at least mostly, since I fully realised and acknowledged it shortly after I left) the limited capacity they have to work with. The entire transaction was painless and easy. I do recommend stopping here for the reasons above, and to be reasonably wary of the environment you will be getting yourself into. I plan on coming here again if I ever have to donate anything in particular.

The fashion Valley Mall tho, is my main mall. This is the mall where I actually do most of my shopping. We watch movies at the AMC theater when we have extra time and get food at the cafeteria/food court area after hours of walking. My son never misses going inside the Laderach to get a free taste, the best chocolate there is. We love going to this mall, especially with my son now being a teenager, we would most likely be doing lots of our shopping activities here especially at his favorite boutiques, like the zumies, Hollister, Rayban, and plenty others I do not recall.... We also love going to The escape room where the mall is. My favorite is the Nordstrom Rack! ;) The holidays tho could get really packed and busy but there's alot of nice things to see and lots of good deals to look forward to.

Endless spots to park! That's a first! Are malls dead now? How are stores surviving? Anywhoo, I still spent more than planned. Damn you, Sephora! Pros: *Surprisingly easy parking (a rare mall miracle) *Huge mix of stores from bougie to budget - Louis Vuitton, Coach, Hollister, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, H&M, Zara, and Gucci to name a few *Open-air vibe with palm trees; very San Diego aesthetic with a tropical feel; complete with fountains and artistic landscaping *Solid food options with a food court, cafes, and kiosks, Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, and my fav, True Food Kitchen *Clean and well-maintained and easy to wander around *There's a lot of variety here to keep you entertained *They have seasonal events that is a nice addition to shopping Cons: *Felt oddly empty for a Sunday..kinda eerie but it may be an introvert paradise *Dangerous for your wallet (you will overspend) *Some stores seem like they're hanging on by a thread *Malls just don't hit like they used to despite the pros- mainly because everything has gone up! Shopping isn't as enjoyable when things cost an arm and a leg. Overall: 3.5 Stars - Still one of the nicer malls around if you're in the mood to stroll, shop, and accidentally blow your budget (Guilty!). Would I come back? Only if my bank account approves!

ARITZIA @ FASHION VALLEY…read more This Aritzia is located at Fashion Valley, and parking is free. I recommend parking near H&M or Zara for the most convenient spots. The store is on the first floor and is fairly spacious. I absolutely love the aesthetic, it has a very "green, old-money" vibe that feels upscale and inviting. While I wish there were more sale or discounted items (other Aritzia locations, like La Jolla, tend to have a small sale section), the store is extensive and well-curated. Their tops, leggings, and other pieces are on the pricier side, but the quality is excellent. I highly recommend their bodysuits, especially from the Contour line, they're my absolute favorite, and I already own a few. The service is decent; the staff are friendly and helpful if you need assistance, though they don't typically greet you at the door. The store can get quite busy, particularly on weekends, so visiting on a weekday is ideal if you prefer a quieter shopping experience.
