Came here for AYCE that includes a seafood boil, a variety of chicken options, and other side dishes and appetizers. While we came primarily for the seafood boil and chicken, we skipped most of the carb-heavy appetizers to save room for the main attractions. Unfortunately, the seafood boil was a letdown. We tried both the signature sauce and garlic butter, but there was no distinguishable difference between them, and neither had a noticeable garlic flavor. Unlike the typical seafood boil experience where everything is shaken together in bags, here the sauce seemed to be merely poured over the frozen seafood. This resulted in sandy clams, sour-tasting crab legs, and corn that also tasted off. The sauce was overwhelmingly salty, prompting us to drink a lot of water afterward. For a better seafood boil experience with fresh ingredients and flavorful sauces, I'd recommend spending a bit more and heading to places like Oceanic Boil. Mad for Chicken might be better suited for its chicken dishes, but the seafood boil was a disappointment. I really want to like this place but all my friends were disappointed too. This dish was pretty sub par in flavor and just was incredibly lack luster. Next we ordered the medium spicy soy mixed legs and wings basket. After a Sunday of being "productive" at a nearby coffee shop, a group of us decided to get some dinner. We saw the outdoor sign so decided to stop in. I've had Korean fried chicken a dozen times or so over the last year so I feel like I could make a fair comparison. The price and portion size was decent but in terms of taste, it just wasn't up to par. The batter on the chicken tastes too much like just regular fried chicken. It did not taste like Korean fried chicken. I don't know how to explain it but the batter seemed too "chewy" instead of crispy. I should have taken it as a sign when I saw that chicken part was only 1/4 of the menu. On the busy streets of northern blvd lie plenty of restaurants and bars but not many of them can be great at both. This restaurant has absolutely great finger food/entrees and plenty of beverages of your choice ranging from bottled beer, draft or hard liquor. I always get the beer tower when in a large group. Usually when I come I get the sweet potato fries and mad nachos which is basically loaded nachos with different cheeses, corn, beef chili, pico de gallo and sour cream. For entrees I would get a kimchi fried rice or if I wanted to get down and dirty I would go for some sweet soy garlic wings. The first time I tried Mad for Chicken was in Boston. They had a limited menu when we went, so it may be different now. We ordered the fried chicken, of course. You can choose different flavors. We got soy garlic and spicy. We also tried bulgogi over rice. I usually get the truffle fries or Parmesan fries, but we skipped on that this time around. Overall, the wings were delicious. However, I would skip on the bulgogi over rice. The beef was pretty dried and they barely gave us any beef. The flavor was also lacking. It was probably the set up of the seating, it took a while for us to get our server's attention, partly because we never saw our server. I've been wanting to go to Mad for Chicken since they had a location in Manhattan many years ago. I never had the chance to visit until now. Mad for Chicken is located in the Murray Hill area of Flushing. It's a short walk from either the Murray Hill station or the Broadway station of the LIRR. On the block where it's located, there are a ton of Korean eateries lining either side of Northern Boulevard. Since the area is very commercial, parking may be an issue. My recommendation is to go during shoulder hours. Mad for Chicken positions itself as a bar that happens to serve fried chicken. Upon entering the dining room, you'll see a room with very high ceilings which gives the room a comfortable air. The restaurant is made for groups. There are lots of tables that could hold six or more guests. I also saw a lot of tables having large pitchers perched on top. This is because Mad for Chicken offers many pitcher specials, either beer or soju mixed drinks. We ordered a half and half chicken and wings combination, an avocado salad, a half rack of ribs and parmesan fries. We felt that the chicken was of an average size but was definitely on par with Bonchon with the double fried technique creating crisp skin. The spicy chicken was really notable because it really delivered on the heat. As for the ribs, they were average. They tasted baked which is okay and was served on top of a homemade coleslaw. The half rack rib portion was good and meaty. As for the salad, it had a very tangy sauce, which we liked. The parmesan fries didn't have as much parmesan as we wished. When we placed our order, the waiter told us that it may take 40 minutes to get our chicken. He was right, to the minute! We appreciated the forewarning. Overall, we got good service. The wait for a table wasn't too long. I noticed on the way back that Mad for Chicken seemed to be the most crowded restaurant on that stretch of Northern Boulevard. The wings tasted a lot better than the drumsticks, but the inside was dry and didn't have much flavor. The chicken took a while to come out as well. I personally don't like truffle fries in general, so they weren't my favorite. The truffle seasoning definitely wasn't evenly coated because some fries didn't taste like truffle while some tasted overly truffled flavor. Calamari was just fine -- well-executed and not too greasy. The chili nachos were the only disappointment. They were overly baked so some chips had a burnt taste to them.Also since the toppings were put on then the whole dish was baked, a lot of grease built up and left the chips covered in oil.
