Mom bought a bunch of stuff online, but by the time it was delivered, it turned out I had already grown into a big boy and outgrown most of it. So she took me to the store to return everything and pick out something more suitable for a big boy like me. It was my first time ever visiting the shops! I liked it--although it was a bit dusty, so I sneezed a lot. Then we decided to check out their changing table and were pleasantly surprised by how great it was. Whoever designed it definitely has kids. I think all changing tables should be built into the sink! I wish it had some nice stuff like napkins, but overall it's was a great experience. In this huge department store, I now know why Macy's is having difficulty. The customer service was troubling. Hard to find an associate around. I couldn't even get out of the cologne in men's section without noticing a litany of Black Friday sales that are going on now! I had one of the most frustrating online shopping experiences with Macy's. I was trying to purchase three designer perfumes from Macy's website totaling around $500. During checkout, I saw an offer to apply for a Macy's credit card and receive 30% off my purchase (up to a $100 discount). I applied, was instantly approved, and even received a high credit limit. However, after approval, I was never provided with any card number or account information to complete my purchase online. I received an email with a "shopping pass" link. After completing identity verification successfully, the site told me to click a link if I wanted to use my new card online. When I clicked it, it redirected me to my Macy's account and asked me to manually add my credit card information--which I did not have. I then spent two full days speaking with six different representatives, supervisors, customer protection agents, and Macy's credit card representatives. Every single person told me that my account was verified and there were no issues. Several representatives offered to place the order for me over the phone. They warned me that they were not sure whether the 30% new-card discount would apply immediately and said I might have to pay full price first and receive the discount on my first statement. I agreed and authorized the purchase. Moments later, I received an email saying my order had been canceled. I called again. A supervisor tried placing the order a second time--and once again, it was immediately canceled. The supervisor admitted everything looked fine on their end and could not explain why the orders kept getting canceled. I spent even more hours with customer protection, who verified my identity and account again but ultimately said they did not know what was causing the issue. Their only suggestion was to visit a Macy's store. At the store, the manager told me they could not help with online purchases. Instead, she encouraged me to apply for yet another Macy's credit card to buy the items in-store, which made no sense since I had already been approved for one. I declined and left. After countless hours on the phone, repeated verifications, canceled orders, and no real solution, I am extremely disappointed. Macy's advertised a credit card promotion that I could not actually use, and no department seemed able to resolve the issue. I plan to close my Macy's credit card account as soon as I receive the card in the mail and will not be shopping at Macy's again. read more

During our visit to the men's department, they had a single check-out stand open and a single clerk operating the register. The line to pay was painfully long. The clerk was doing her work extra slowly. There were other clerks in the jewelry section, chatting away; none of them volunteered to help with the line in the men's department. Both times I have gone to the men's section and was greeted and helped by one of the kindest workers I have ever experienced in retail. EBER - he was extremely helpful and was the sole reason I came back for his men's clothing advice because of his elite customer service. You're probably wondering why I'm taking the time to leave a five-star review of a Macy's outside my house, and I'm just going to sound off with my opinion on floor sales associates so if you're not into that kind of thing, here's the TL;DR: If you're here shopping for men's work clothes on a budget in Century City, look for and request Axel. He is awesome. Energetic, committed to basically being your teammate and working with you to get exactly what you need. The kind of salespeople I like working with personally are the connectors -- the ones who take this sea of men's clothes and work with you to identify exactly what it is you need. Axel is that guy. Now for the sales stuff. I'm assuming that clothing sales at Macy's are at least partially commission driven for the floor associates so it's a bummer that basically I saw Axel's colleague (a lady whose name I didn't care to pick up but I'm sure the people who need to know can figure out) shove him off the register when he was trying to close the sale. In my experience, pushy, high-pressure salespeople might perform well for the bottom line. They might wittingly or unwittingly serve a function of contrasting and have to be the villain in a sales environment. I get that. I just don't like being on the end of it as a consumer. It's deeply unpleasant. My experience with the seemingly more experienced lady on the sales floor who pushed Axel off the register was exactly this. She was pushy to the point of being rude and insulting. I went from looking for a suit to considering buying absolutely nothing because of how adversarial the entire thing felt. I'm shopping for clothes for a funeral and this lady just tried to sell me a gray tweed blazer and talk me into convincing me that it was funeral appropriate. I did my best to be polite but firm about not wanting to wear this to a funeral. She continued to push for the sale of this tweed blazer and I was completely turned off. Whatever you do, do not trust her fashion opinions. They are awful, contradictory and unfortunately, very confident-sounding. If my father didn't at one point train me as a buyer in the fashion industry I could see myself being pulled in by this lady and trusting her. Do not trust her. She continued to upsell, upsell, upsell and aggressively pursued a sale of clothes outside of my scope and budget. I imagine this experienced floor associate does this because it has worked for her and led to relatively impressive sales numbers. I imagine there has been at least a dozen other people who felt the way I felt -- that not only is this type of pushy, inaccurate sales tactics the incorrect way to approach a customer, the degree to which it is incorrect is a waste of the customer's time. Axel is a refreshing contrast to all of this and I'm sure it has to be by design, as I was so moved by Axel's commitment to matching me up with the appropriate clothes that I felt the need to write a yelp review about it. Axel basically hit sales fundamentals on the head and acted like how you would expect a sales associate to act -- he asked basic questions like what I was shopping for, what was my budget, and immediately got to fitting me for size. One very important thing, when he asked me what it was for and I told him it was a funeral -- it was the only time he stopped moving. He stopped what he was doing, looked me in the eye and told me he was so sorry. I told him not to worry about it, but for a guy who seems to move quickly to completely stop and understand the gravity of shopping for a funeral -- he built up my trust in a matter of those three seconds. As before mentioned, Axel went about it with a lot of energy and moved -quickly- out of respect for my time. I appreciated him a great deal. He has a good eye, knows how to explain the difference in sizes and fits and is generally knowledgeable about how things fit and look. When the lady associate tried to sell me the gray tweed blazer, Axel openly defied her and said I couldn't wear that to a funeral. Now, I know I sound like a mark who was just hoodwinked by the most epic good cop, bad cop sales routine. And I would have been fine with all of that if Axel was the one who was allowed to check me out -- it was when I realized Axel's hard work on this transaction was basically going to be stricken from the ledger that I felt compelled to come on yelp and point it out. Macy's, if you want to keep things rolling smoothly in your men's department... make sure you keep your Axel happy. (Sorry, I had to) read more

This Macy's is understaffed. Even before the pandemic, I learned a long wait to try on shoes is not worth it and some handbag sales ladies are aggressive. Although this location is more upscale with a better selection of clothes, cosmetics and jewelry, I've only gone here recently for cosmetics. But last time there were only two salespeople in the entire cosmetics department and I wasn't able to find what I wanted. Later learned on my own that they don't even carry Dr. Brandt at this location. Thanks for wasting my time from your lack of merchandise knowledge. I like Macy's and I've been missing my location that is still closed. When in the area, I wanted to check this one out and maybe take advantage of their summer sales. The store is big, nice, clean, airy, not too many customers when I went to it, so social distancing wasn't an issue. I browsed their merchandise, it's more upscale than my location, I didn't find anything that fits my style. Customer service wasn't particularly good, the lady I interacted with wasn't very nice. In terms of sale, nothing great either, didn't care for their lack of discounts. Worth checking it our if you are in the area, but I wasn't thrilled with this store. Kinda snooty! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I had a brand new scarf purchased from Macy's I got as a gift for Christmas still with tags on it in the gift box. It was wool and I'm vegan so I wanted to return it. They refused to let me return it as I didn't have the receipt. I was told by Macy's customer service via phone before hand that as long as tags were on the item with the return label it was okay. Nope. Spoke with the manager at the service counter near the handbags and scarves and wow - not sure how people like her have a job. She'll literally run Macys out of business. Her attitude and customer service was absolutely disgusting. This is a very expensive cashmere scarf that they still currently sell, but because it was an online purchase they want nothing to do with it. She offered me $29 store credit. Hilarious. This particular store is located in Westfield Century City. It's a rather large department store. I believe it is a flagship store. This mall has two other department stores but I always gravitate toward Macy's. The store is very clean and organized and it is very hard to leave without finding something that catches my eye. The salespeople are nice and helpful. The store has some great deals. I like to shop the "one day sale" and "last act" for some good bargains. I also enjoy buying online and picking up in store (the pick up is near the purses on the first floor). This is a happy place. read more

Macy's is my go to store for all my dress needs. I walked in here after stopping by the Sephora grand opening just a few stores down. I was immediately greeted by the sales associates at the makeup counters. The Estee Lauder associate came up to me to tell me about the free gift with purchase with any $35. I told her that I had the foundation and was it no need at the moment for any Estée Lauder products. I was then approached by the brow shaping associate at the benefits brow bar. She introduced her products and told me how similar they were to the Anastasia make up and even better. I will definitely try it in the future. We went to the second floor because that's where the bathrooms were. Everything was so bright and shiny. You can really tell that the store was newly constructed. The dresses department associate welcomed me to the store and asked me if I needed any help. This is something I rarely get in any store so I was definitely surprised. I did share that with her and she assured me I'd be getting the same service every time I stop by. I think even if I didn't purchase a dress from here I would come just to say hello. I went in today to get a suit, ended up leaving with 2 of them. Mike in the Men's department over there was awesome. I highly recommend having him help, or asking his opinion if you're unsure, or just don't know what you're doing. Give that man a raise!!! He measured everything, made sure things fit and were coordinated. Customer service was great, there was plenty of options, and Mike pointed me in the right direction every turn. I would not recommend this Macy's fine jewelry department. I recently brought in a ring to be repaired and replace a diamond that had fallen out. I had originally made this fine jewelry purchase at another Macy's location years ago. I thought that I would be taken care of given I have been a loyal customer. Needless to say, the repair took over two months. In addition, no one reached out to me to give me updates. I wasn't informed if the offsite repair center received my ring, if the ring could even be repaired, if I authorized the repair or not, etc. It sounds like people just sat on it for weeks until I called asking for an update. I was the one who had to constantly call to get updates from a sales representative that knew what they were doing. Extremely poor customer service. read more

I went to your store last Saturday to look at evening gowns. I needed help and it was difficult to find the one sales person in the dress department. She showed me where the dressing rooms were. Only 2 open for the whole area. I went into the larger one and the floor was filthy. It had not been swept or washed for a long time. I had that problem before at Macy's in the Beverly Center but I was hoping that because of Covid 19 that more of an effort would have been made. Their 866 customer service line continues to make me wait over one hour then promptly disconnects. I was given the best Experience with Regina @Macys . She was the Manager on Duty. I needed to find a great dress for my Court Ceremony. I went looking for a Manager to help me in the Ladies Department. she greeted me with so much positive Vibes I couldn't do anything the smile the whole time she helped me . The dress I wanted was at another store. She located the dress and I went on my way to pick it up. I asked for a manager to complain about a very unprofessional cashier that they have and I really don't think that manager will do anything about it. Therefore, I am warning you about very rude, cashier with red puffy hair and heavy accent. She was very rude and she was acting crazy. Obviously she was from a foreign country but middle age, short, dark skin rude employee of this Macy's. You don't believe that they have a rude employee like her.
