Wow! I can't believe that I'm giving 4 stars to this Macy's. I dropped by this Macy's because I was on a mission for a new pair of boots that I fell in love with. I had just popped into the Bay Fair location and saw them, but they didn't have them in my size. Thankfully, they did a stock check and Southland had them! For a major sale day, this location was lacking in the employee coverage, but the two ladies working were fabulous! They kept their cool, they made sure everyone was being helped and constantly appologized for any lengthy wait. I was happy to find they really did have my boots and I walked out happy as a clam with my new sweet and sassy boots! They lost one star for two reasons. The first reason is that they didn't staff their shoe department very well for a sale day. Those poor ladies were seriously earning their money that day...and they did it with a smile. The second reason is, I went upstairs to the children's department to look for some cute outfit for my son to wear to see Santa. They didn't have much out, and when I asked an employee if they had anything else in his size in the back or somewhere else in the store, she said no. As I'm looking around some more, I hear the same lady come across a friend of hers. Her friend is also looking for a cute outfit for her son to wear for the holidays. Lo and behold, her son wears the same size as mine and the employee tells her she has some stuff in the back! Ugh!!! Yes I was eavesdropping, but I didn't make a stink, I just left. Its a great Macys if your coming for streetwear or if your a clearance shopper (they have a few 4.99 racks!) The downfalls of this store is that They don't carry surf/skate or swimsuits here and they don't have a brow bar so I personally would rather go to Stoneridge Macys. read more

Only came in a second time to return something I ordered online. This place is always a huge mess, even first thing when the doors open. Its to the point its beyond frustrated to even try to shop BC its so unorganized. So I've decided to do my shopping online now or drive further to a different Macy's. Since Hayward has no Sephora I have to buy makeup and skin care products here. There was not enough coverage at the Clinque counter so a 10 minute trip turned into and hour. The service was good but this place is pretty run down. read more

I went here last weekend to buy a pair of new shoes. In regards to two pairs of shoes I was interested in, they unfortunately didn't have my usual size, but I decided to go ahead and try a pair that was one size down, and lo and behold, they actually fit!! =) Friendly staff, seriously, I came in dressed and looking like sh*t that day, but I guess it didn't matter because I was treated nicely and promptly nevertheless....we're talking ugly sweatpants, skull cap, ugly jacket, a bummed-out Rox, hah!! But I was wearing Diesel shoes, give me credit for that, they're an old pair but I love 'em, oh yes I do!! =) Anyway, this Macy's had a pretty good selection of shoes, I only knocked off a star because of them not having my usual size but hey, I'm Bigfoot here, that's my problem. =) read more

So I just want to start off that I give the company of Macy's 5 out of 5 stars and that I do most of my shopping there but this particular Macy's sucks. I cam e in one day looking for some clothes for summer like T's and some shorts, after walking around I couldn't find any brands that I wear, I came up to a employee and asked where are brands like Hurley, Volkom, Quicksilver stuff like that which I usually get at other Macy's stores, she said they don't carry those brands in this store, I guess if I was looking for some FUBU or Rockawear this was the place, she told me I need to go to Pleasanton store where mostly white people shop, I was really disappointed and had to drive to Stoneridge to get my shirts, I know this store is kinda in the ghetto but I think they should carry to all people. read more

Went here on Thanks giving weekend to buy an electric griddle for my sister. This place was packed as there were very good deals from Macys for Thanks giving. I could not find the griddle and when I explained the same to a Macys rep named Jessica, she was so nice to order it online for me without any shipping charges. When I don't find any item and ask for help, in many stores I hear the line 'Thats all we got!' but here it was different and I felt very special. Not the best or worse Macys....selection is better than the Bay fair Macys but less than those in Walnut Creek or Pleasanton, and of course SF. Customer service is ok but hard to find staff sometimes. Returns are easy which encourages you to spend more in the store. Great if you're looking for everyday but not the upscale or one of a kind item. read more

If i need something in a hurry, i will shop here. As far as Macys go, this is average, kinda ghetto, but manageable. Southland is going out of business in a hurry, so I would expect it to become worse and worse as the months go by. As far as ghetto Macys go, I would put this one at the top of the list between Bay Fair and Hilltop. read more

My only problem with this Macys is one of the female associates in the Jewelry area (diamonds - semi precious). She's an older of asian descent square faced person. The rest of the store has always been very helpful and I've no other problems. I'm a card holder and as many of you know, when you're a Macy's card holder, you tend to get better service. Well I went to return a silver bracelet that was given to me as a gift that was too big. I'd forgotten all about it until about 4 months after Christmas so I told the lady I'd just take store credit on a gift card since I didn't see anything I wanted to exchange it for. I was also with my boyfriend at the time (a former employee for the Bayfair Macys so he knew the rules). She started saying she couldn't pull up the bar code in the register so I thought she was new and would call the manager to help her out. Instead she argued with me that it was "impossible" to return because it was over 6 months old. When it was purchased is not my problem since it was a gift but the fact that she started giving me attitude instead of getting a manager to help her really got me upset. I even asked her to get the manager and she refused to do so until 15 minutes later. She called on the phone and they told her how to do the return (they told her the same stuff my boyfriend had already told her) and after I finally got the gift card, she proceeded to CALL SECURITY on me because SHE didn't know how to do HER job. WTF?? Security never came of course and this horrible biatch still works there so I refuse to buy any jewelry when she's there. ONLY PURCHASE JEWELRY FROM THE OLDER GENTLEMAN THAT WORKS THERE. HE'S NICE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. Otherwise this would be a 5 star macys considering its in the ghetto. read more

Do not buy mattress at Macy's! My big expensive mistake! Long story short- after 2 months a 3 thousand dollar mattress is already losing its shape and forming a dip. The warranty was voided (that's the long story). Poor customer service not to mention product! After looking at reviews a little late it appears they do not rate well with furniture either. I went yesterday to Macys Estee Lauder department and asked for a powder foundation. The lady who is Black and tall, was like , she was in a hurry to accomodate me, she never gave me a chance to sit down unlike the rest from the beauty department...she was like, she wants to finish her contach with me...she never gave me a chance to look at clearly if the foundation im buying for really match my skin color....i will not go back to this estee lader department again. But i have a very nice experienced with Ann from Shiseido department, shes very nice and very patient on me. She even do my facial...ill give a 5 star for Ann and no star for that estee lauder lady. read more

RE: Jewelry Dept. Simply HORRIBLE! My fiance bought my ring not to long ago, and I've recently taken it to get sized. I told the you lady that worked there i needed it in a week if she could expedite the process and she said of course. WRONG! called 4 days later to find out they hadn't even shipped it :( and my wedding is this weekend. I spoke to the manager (very sweet) then she told me she would call me before they sent it out on Monday, called me at 4 o'clock Monday to inform me that i would be ready in 2-3 weeks and it went out this morning. Too bad my wedding is this weekend. This is unacceptable!!!!!!!! Not only did we buy a wedding band to go with that cut of my ring but now i don't have my ring? Words can not explain how upset i am! This place is a joke. They sell me a watch saying I can get it fitted and I can return it if I decide to not keep it. I've been waiting here for 45 minutes and then they tell me I can't return an altered watch? Bullsh*t that's not what your employee told me. I'm still here waiting 60 minutes after the fact and the manager took my watch and receipt to who knows where. First time shopping at Macy's and def not returning. I'd rather go to Nordstrom's. This review isn't for the Macy's store itself but the Mac cosmetics that's in there. The girls there have the worse attitude ever!!!! They are not helpful or willing to help at all! They don't even acknowledge you and this is the 3rd time it has happened. I've only received great customer service from one girl there which I forgotten her name but she was a really pretty Latina. Other than that I will take my business elsewhere since mac Southland doesn't seem to care. Hey this happened many years ago but when you cheat your customers then we never go back in unless we have to use the restroom. Think of all the money I didn't spend at Macy's and spent it at Sears, KMart and Penney's since then. Years ago we bought a RCA tv and the warranty was for 3 months and at 4 months our tv died. We went into Macy's and no credit or nothing was offered on a $400 tv. So anyone of you would be disgusted if this happened to you. The clerk was rude and pranced around in her high heels and acted like we were dirt and she was very important for working at Macy's. Too bad it wasn't Macy's that went under instead of KMart or Sears like the problems they are having. But I wouldn't be caught dead in a phony place like this at Macy's. It actually was ok, but I got to visit Macy's in Eastridge San Jose. OMG. You could actually fit like 3 Hayward Macy's into the one in SJ. And the selections available in Hayward doesn't even meet half of what SJ Macy's have. But I will still shop in Macy's Hayward because: I live nearby and the customer service in Hayward is waaaaaaay better. Help is readily available and they are friendly too. No one greeted me in SJ and I wasn't treated nicely by a (Filipino) sales associate in SJ. (shoe department). In fact she was rude. Why is it every time I go to a Macy's there will be 5 employees who walk by and not offer to help ring up customers. Yet the line is 20 people deep with one person on a register? I guess that explains why there closing stores. read more

They have a Finishline here, and they aren't even part of Finishline. I tried returning shoes from an online order, and thinking this had a Finishline store I thought it would work. But they're only associated with Macy's. What's the point of having the name association if they aren't going to help Finishline customers? It makes no sense to even have a Finishline there if they aren't different. read more

I'm saddened to see all the negative reviews. I have shopped here for over 20 years and LOVE the experience. I have NOT had people disrespect me. I guess it depends on the time of year...or if people want to LOOK for something negative? Who Knows, but I've bought many pairs of shoes here and make up from different counters and most of the time, they are very helpful. If there is a problem with a purchase, they allow a return with out a problem. Will continue shopping here for many years to come! read more

My wifi device keeps connecting to Macy's Free Wifi network but I can never get a real Internet connection using it. I don't find a whole lot here to get. If their clothes were more affordable I might get something. read more

The customer service is slacking I went in to buy a bed out right. Employee suggested apply for credit it won't hurt even if you don't get it you still get a hundred off the total price... cool thanks. To our surprise they approve $300 credit limit. Now you just took 735 off my debit card then she apply 300 to our Macy's card ..wait the bed was only $935 now she had to undo the whole ($1035) transaction. Wow now my bank thinks fraud is happening and denied my purchase to late in the day to deal with nonsense maybe I'll come back maybe not.... read more
