Such a comforting atmosphere. Elise seems like a naturally warm spirit with an easy smile. 2 specific moments, she called me to apologize for something only a florist would understand, both bouquets were beautiful. Second, she met us at the door with the bouquet. Will be returning when we need flowers. read more

This place is good, but a bit overpriced. I was able to work with Star who's incredible, and the only reason this place gets three stars. I ordered prom flowers and was promised that everything is custom made, while what I found online looked amazing, I was a bit disappointed by what I received. For the set I paid $160. It wasn't what I expected nor was it anything to write home about. Highly recommended shopping around. read more

Update: Upon leaving my original review, the shop reached out to me via Yelp asking for my phone number to call and make things right. At that point in time I made peace with their response to my review and told them that we could move on. I thought that I could lay the matter to rest and focus on my family during this sad time. Four weeks after my dad's passing, I was beginning to open up again to the world, when I went to my in-laws' home. My MIL had a letter addressed to me; even she was perplexed. It was from Starr. In a gross violation of my privacy, Starr wrote me a handwritten letter using my in-laws' address from their order. In her letter Starr claimed that she did not have my information due to me declining to share it and so she used my in-laws' payment information to find her way to me. Her letter was one full page, front and back, of defending herself and telling me stories of how she is a truly exemplary employee, even staying behind at the store extra late for another order. This letter did two things: 1) it reopened my wounds from feeling like I was unseen and unheard in one of my truest moments of vulnerability and 2) showed me that she still had no awareness of the pain she had caused since she did not apologize and instead told me stories of how she treated other people better than me. I then reached back out to the manager via Yelp to ask for a phone number and good time to talk to discuss something. They told me to just call the store number and stopped responding when I asked for a good time to be sure to speak with the right person. I decided not to pursue the matter because, honestly, it hurt like hell having to deal with this on top of my grief. It has now been 3 months since my father passed, since this all started, and I tried to let it go, but I decided to write this update. Albeit delayed, I think people should know the way this matter was handled -- vindictively with self-interest and an outright disregard for the reason why people need their service in the first place. What an an absolute disgraceful display of professional conduct. read more

When I got married 19 years ago I would only consider Lyal Nickals. Best florist in the East Bay. They recently did a stunning wreath for my brother's urn remains at his burial. It was one of the most beautiful arrangements I've ever seen. Simply the BEST! read more

Great service. Lovely floral arrangement with minimal directions. But the location is very discrete where you don't even know where the shop is located. However, they did walk out and handed the product over to me like a drug dealer. Super hush hush and quick. I took a star off because I thought the corsage was very very pricey. It cost more than a big bouquet of flowers IMO. read more

Love Lyle Nicholas, was my go to florist for many years never had an arrangement I did not love or like. Always fresh and beautiful flowers.

A friend recently had surgery and knew her recovery time would be a couple of weeks. Wanted to send an arrangement to cheer her up so went online to check on various places...Lyal Nickals Floral Design came to mind as I used them back in the day and they always provided wonderful arrangements. Also, this place was close to where my friend lives so it made it convenient. Ordered the Lyal Nickals exclusive: Mr McGregors Garden as it caught my eye with the pretty arrangement of pinks with rustic, yet cute touches. Everything was done online and questions answered via email...delivery made in the window requested and overall, seamless process. *** 4 - 4.5 stars! *** I would say what was ordered and what was received was not quite what was online as it didn't have the height (arranged manzanita branches) or colors (more yellows and use of green cymbidums vs pink) but it was 90% as expected and still a beautiful arrangement. My friend was amazed and loved it "the best arrangement I received!" :) read more

I am so grateful for the customer service and spectacular flower arrangement that I ordered delivered by Lyal NIckals. Lyal Nickals was able to fulfill my order flawlessly during a busy Holiday week. They were very helpful when I spoke with them on the phone; followed through with my special requests to personalize the colors; and made sure I was 100% satisfied with the entire transaction. The recipient of the flowers wrote me and thanked me for bringing some "joy" during a trying time. Thank you Lyal Nickals for your part in that. read more

Beautiful custom arrangements, great customer service! Best florist in the area, always my go-to for any occasion!

I love this neighborhood flower shop! It's one that I've passed by countless of times growing up in the area yet I've only been here once prior to my most recent visit (just so you know, it was definitely for high school prom over a decade ago!) My most recent visit was to get a small bouquet arranged for a friend who I hadn't seen in a while. It was important to me that the flowers were professionally arranged and not simply purchased from a market. I was looking for that extra touch and Lyal Nickals certainly delivered once again. I spoke with Star on the phone who was extremely lovely to work with. She answered all my questions, gave me an option within my price range, and was patient with me as I undoubtedly asked some fairly simple questions. Thanks to her and the team, I was able to get a three-rose set with all the fixings for about $16 and was able to surprise my friend. During the pandemic, they are not allowing visitors into their stores. You will need to call in advance to set up an order and arrange a pickup time. When you arrive to pickup, they'll greet you at the door. Easy! Thank you Lyal Nickals and I hope you continue to flourish during these trying times. read more

Superb service, and knowledgeable about their clientele. I ordered for a local, and Lyal was able to me the perfect recommendation.

I was just the recipient of this beautiful floral arrangement following surgery. I have honestly never seen such an amazing pop of color, blues, purples, yellows, lime green and these amazing bulbous flowers with cute little star patterns all around. What a lovely surprise and a large, carefully made arrangement. I am beyond thrilled and it will definitely help the healing process. Many thanks and I will start using their services for my own flower needs in the future. read more

Extremely happy with my experience with this florist. I went on Friday to order an arrangement for my grandmothers memorial to pick up the following morning. They were absolutely accommodating. Asked what I was looking for, size, price point, overall look or colors. Walked me into the cooler and showed me options and asked if anything jumped out at me. They were ready for me before my pickup and carried it out to the car. The final product was absolutely perfect and such a lovely arrangement. Would certainly use them again. read more

I have used them for years! Always deliver beautiful flowers. My late mother used them and started me using them once I grew up.

Just received our flowers for our Easter Service...WOW! If you need a florist I would highly recommend Lyal Nickals. Their staff member, (Star) was understanding, friendly, experienced and thorough. They weren't stingy with the array of flowers they used or the amount. It was important the flowers express the beauty, joy and importance of Easter and that's exactly what they did. Can't believe I have never written a review for out go-to florist. Hands down the best florist in the East Bay. We have a dear friend of our family who has been sending us Lyal Nickals arrangements for all the special occasions in life. We always get excited when I see the van in our driveway! They did my prom corsages and now are on to all the celebration flowers for my own kids. If you are having a special event, Lyal Nickals' flowers are the perfect touch to welcome your guests and incorporate your theme. The one time I went to another local florist for event flowers (because I was being cheap!) I absolutely regretted it. Two weeks ago, in the midst of quarantine, one of my daughter's friends had a minor but scary accident and when my daughter wanted to do something for her I suggested we drop a little bouquet of flowers off at her house. I called Lyal Nickals and of course they had a beautiful, fresh bouquet wrapped in brown paper with a lovely bow waiting for us when we arrived at the back door. My daughter was thrilled and her friend loved her flowers. Friendly to deal with, always reliable, clean, friendly delivery, call Lyal Nickals and you're guaranteed to make someone's day! read more

Thursday June 14th, 2018. I get a text from the mother-in-law telling me very last minute that I have been invited to go to my little brother-in-law's HS graduation ceremony. WHAT?! OK THAT'S COOL, I GOT THIS! I immediately thought to get him flowers, but bouquets are not his style. Next best thing: Leis! I promptly go on Yelp to check which florist nearby was able to accommodate to my odd, last minute request. I was immediately answered by a lovely lady who's name I did not catch and I swear I thought she was an answering machine by the way she picked up the phone (I AM SO SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU MA'AM!). She informed me that there was a few leis available but I was trying to cater to the preferences of my lil bro-in-law. I know there was a white and purple lei she tried to sell me but I knew the lil guy would not appreciate it (if it was for me, however, that's another story...). After about 10 mins going back and forth (and some luck!), I was able to reserve and pay for an all-white lei with blue and yellow ribbon decor on it. Fast forward to 1:30 pm: pick up time. OK honestly I arrived like 10-15 mins earlier, which was a shocker on my end because I cook for a living and I just came from work and WHAT EVEN IS A SCHEDULE?!?!? I arrive with very warm greetings (this place smells AMAZING btw!) and smiles. I gave them my name and a quick description of what I ordered. The lady who assisted me (ONCE AGAIN I HAVE FAILED TO RETAIN THE NAME OF THE AMAZING STAFF MEMBER) goes to the fridge in the back and presents the lei and OH MY GOD IT'S BEAUTIFUL YET SIMPLE AND JUST WOW (and why am I giving this away again? Oh that's right, GRADUATION!). It was beautiful. I had a nice quick conversation to the staff member about what it was from their side and also certain situations about how customers have been ordering things without picking up their flowers, which was sad to hear. Over, I had a last minute event that I really needed flowers for, and this shop helped me a lot! Many thanks again to this business, and if I need flowers again in the future, you can expect me to come here again! read more

Lyal Nickals - Last minute lei that was ordered and purchased that same morning! Came out amazing and just perfect for my lil bro-in-law's graduation! - Florists Near Me - Castro Valley, California

My family and business have always purchased flowers from Lyal Nickals, and I remember when my mom got flowers delivered from them 20+ years ago, they were always WAY more special when they were from here. And that still stands true today. I spent my 40th birthday in isolation, tearfully closing my small business, stressed out-pandemic style. It's been one of the worst, second to the year my dad died and my best friend was in hospice. However, my mom sent me two dozen roses in this big, gorgeous bouquet on Tuesday. It is the saving grace and brings me a smile, calms me with its beautiful scent. The only downside is the roses immediately began to wilt and fall apart, lost three whole roses the second day. My only guess is that this is due to the pandemic, quality of flowers available, delivery, etc., as decades of their arrangements have never had this issue. They're more expensive than most, and you're paying for quality too... just maybe ask them to check if your roses are immediately rotting out like mine were. read more

Lyal Nickals - Beautiful Roses - day four and they look as fresh as when they were delivered. - Florists Near Me - Castro Valley, California

The first time I patronized Lyal Nickals was in the 1970s. They were known then for outstanding quality, artisanship, and service--as they still are today. I hadn't use their services in many years but recently had a sudden and important need. So I called to see if they could help me and was exceptionally pleased with their responsiveness, same-day service, and stunning work. Although I provided very little direction, they seemed to know exactly what I had in mind. The memorial wreath they created for me absolutely exceeded my expectations, and the cost was quite reasonable given the wreath size, amount of material, and craftsmanship. Strongly recommend without hesitation! read more

Honestly a bit disappointed in my prom corsage this year. I paid $45 for this and the flowers were too small. The slap on bracelet made my wrist itchy the entire day/night so I ended up taking it off and only putting it on for photos. The flowers are also very small compared to what I got from here last year. It was a nice corsage, but it was too uncomfortable and had small flowers for what I paid. read more

For the past 50 years we have celebrated May Day (May 1st) by delivering flowers to our mother or the women in our family. While the method of delivery has gotten more sophisticated and we no longer pick our neighbors flowers and leave them on the porch after we have rung the doorbell we still continue the tradition. Lucky for me Lyal Nickals is the florist that my sister in Alabama chooses to order flowers from. They never disappoint! Only wish they had a Lyal Nickals in Alabama! read more
