I tell them what price range I'm looking (at least $40-$70) for and what colors or specific flowers I'm wanting in the vase arrangement. It's that easy! I've sent and received the most beautifulest flowers ever from Lyal Nickals! Then I give the name and address of the recipient and my credit card info! With or without a Mylar balloon, too. They deliver for a fee, of course. Pre-order at least 48 hours. Even funeral arrangements have come out beautifully from this florist! Those in the $200-$250 range. Duh, if you want something nice you'll have to pay for it, but you definitely get your money's worth here instead of the internet flower place! I very strongly recommend this place! Awesome customer service. The staff is very nice and helpful there and over the phone. I walked in with an empty dirty vase and walked out with a beautiful last minute arrangement. I recently purchased a graduation lei, price $59. I would have given them 5 stars, but come to find out they are OVERPRICED. My local Safeway carried leis for $22, half the price and exactly the same! The leis are not made at the flower shop, they are picked up at the flower mart in SF. I will continue to purchase flowers here, but disappointed with how they tax during grad season. read more

There's a reason this place has an outstanding 5-star average right now after 17 reviews (w/ mine make it 18!!).... They're that awesome. A little pricey, but friggin' AWESOME! For Valentine's I called in a last minute (we're taking 4 hours in advance!) bouquet of a dozen roses to be delivered to a place not too far from the shop. All other flower dealers said they simply couldn't pump out the bouquet that quickly and under such short notice (and definitely couldn't deliver it in that short window time frame)... Lyal Nickals could. On top of that, they were friendly, helpful, and on the ball the entire time. But I haven't even gotten to the best part yet: The crazy huge and breath-takingly-beautiful dozen roses that my girl had delivered to her at work!!! I never really got to thank Lyal's in person so I'll do it here on Yelp. I found myself in need of a capable florist who would be able to arrange quite a few centerpieces and one or two arrangements for my senior ball. I've had terrible experiences with other florists, and I trusted Lyal's so I went with them. Mike, the owner, is super friendly and accommodating. I gave him a budget (about $1600) and he was able to work around it. He graciously let us borrow all of his vases (don't know how he usually does it, it might just be because we're a school) and kept in frequent contact with me. He went over how to put the centerpieces together with us step-by-step (hence we were able to keep the price low) and let us borrow his tools as well. The flowers and arrangements were beautiful. Lyal's really knows how to do it. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Service and flowers are always above par. Oh and I ordered my corsage and boutonniere from here again, naturally ($35/$15). This year I opted for roses instead of orchids. Mike suggested I go with the Vendela roses because it had a cream tinge to it and would go better with my dress. He was right. Gentlemen, there is a difference between flowers and FLOWERS. Lyal Nickals makes beautiful arrangements for a very fair price. I can appreciate the lower price point of Trader Joe's, Costco, etc. Compared with many florists there may not be much difference in quality. However, if you buy flowers from Lyal Nickals, the difference is NOTICEABLE. If you really love someone, get your flowers here. For years, I ignored Lyal Nickals. Just looking at their storefront I assumed they were expensive, old fashioned, etc. I had to make a last minute purchase and my closest option was Lyal Nickals. I provided a set price for what I assumed would get me a modest tropical bouquet. They surprised me with a beautiful and rather large, contemporary arrangement with numerous fancy tropical flowers (if I can remember: torch ginger, bird of paradise, protea were in the mix) and not a lot of cheap filler. A lei ordered from Lyal Nickals was also a standout. I am ever the procrastinator so when I placed a last minute order (I think it was day before) my only choice was the standard purple orchid lei. It was a knockout. The leis the other graduates wore were scrawny by comparison. Even from a distance the difference in quality was noticeable. Seven days before the wedding I called to verify everything and they asked me to send a pic again to see what I was looking for. Wtf? That should've told me not to get my hopes up. What if I hadn't callled? What were they going to be working with to build the bouquets? My flowers looked like they were a day away from death. My bridesmaid bouquets looked better than mine. Very disappointed. Working with wedding vendors is like working with children. If you do not babysit them to do their job, you may not get what you paid for. They're still as good today as they were decades ago when we used to get prom/dance corsages from here. They had nearly every color ribbon and floral combination you could dream up. I could always count of Lyal Nickals for seasonal, good quality flowers, although they are on the pricier end. Single stem roses used to cost $5, and valentine's day dozen $100+. They used to guarantee healthy flowers for a week, although I did have some that would die before that time (I'm sure I could have called). They are always busy and decorate for showers, weddings, funerals, birthdays, you name it. They also sell Radko ornaments during the holidays and other home knick-knacks at their corner store. The folks there are nice enough, but I never felt incredibly welcome. They often seemed too busy to help, which is unfortunate. read more
