Of all the reviews I do this is an easy one. If the store closes at 9pm don't lock the doors at 840pm. It may seem a small thing but Southland mall is not what I would do ya very secure location. If I park on the north or south side so that can be close to a door I don't expect to have to walk the long way around out the west door to my car. If I'm assaulted or otherwise do I get to sue Macys? Honor your hours of operation or change your close time. read more

Dorenzo, the manager at Macy's Hayward, needs to be fired. My mother and I visited the store because she wanted to buy a mattress, and they were having a sale with significant discounts. When we reached the third floor, where the mattresses were located, we were met with an empty room. Not a single person was present in the home furnishings section. After searching for a while, we finally found someone at the only functional register. They called someone to assist with the mattresses and promised that someone would be with us within 5 to 10 minutes. However, after 15 minutes, we returned to the register to follow up. We asked if we could see a manager, hoping they might be familiar with the mattresses and able to help us. Unfortunately, Dorenzo was nowhere to be found. The sales associate who was helping us was incredibly kind and apologetic for the inconvenience. She searched the entire store high and low but couldn't find the manager. She repeated her apologies and assured us that she would do everything she could to help us. We left the store feeling very upset. We had come to Macy's hoping to support the company and enjoy their products, but the poor customer service we received has left us questioning how long they will be able to continue operating. read more

If you're in the mood for a low-budget Macy's experience, this location might be for you. I was hoping Macy's was looking to elevate its brand, but perhaps not at this store. It felt more like a somewhat organized Ross than a traditional department store. On a positive note, I did find some impressive slippers. I have been coming to the Macy's at Southland Mall since my high school days. As other reviews have mentioned, it is not a high end Macy's like the one at Westfield Valley Fair, but it gets the job done if you know what you are looking for and want to get in and out quickly. For us, it is usually sweaters and jackets, and they tend to carry a good mix of brands. We recently picked up jackets and sweaters for our sons and had a smooth experience from start to finish. The staff is friendly, the store was organized, and checkout was quick (it's not always quick). This Macy's location continues to be a reliable spot for the basics when we are in the area. read more

Macy's used to be one of the flagship fashion stores that was known for excellent customer service, inventory, clean stores and an orderly selection. No more. These are concepts of the past. The prices are good...if you can find what you're looking for through the sea of clothing that lazy ass customers have thrown to the side. You don't have to be gifted to put clothes back on a hanger. Macy's had some wonderful deals during the Holiday. My favorite this year are the Men's Ugg slippers which are regularly $100, but I got for $50. Great quality. I love their furniture too. I was able to furnish my son's college apartment with nice quality furniture from Macy's. Often times I shop online for my son, but if I need to do in store pick up, then I choise this location. Probably one of the better reasons to visit Southland Mall. The store overall was organized and probably a good stop if you are Christmas shopping. I like the Toys R Us that are now in most Macys. They have the smallest section but its packed with so much. Legos and Nerf guns - if you are shopping for young kids you might want to stop by. I didn't spend much time in the store. They have this backstage area with all the left overs and returns. I'm sure there are some gems in there but I didn't have the patience. I didn't come in during the Black Friday madness - came in during a regular weekday and there weren't that many people. I think since covid most people order online through Amazon and don't bother walking in stores anymore. If you are buying for friends and family that live far away I might suggest online buying with direct shipping - but if you buying something bulky for somebody nearby take a peep here. read more

Just order some items online to take advantage of their early Black Friday Sale. I used the delivery and curbside pick up services. Curbside was good no issues with order at all; and that is why I giving the stars. The delivery service was not good at all. Even though I had updated all my information at the time of confirming the address; my Ninja blender got sent out to Modesto (mother in law's residence). Very inconvenient as I will need to wait to visit her to get my item. Luckily it is in safe and not lost. read more

The Macy's at Southland mall is a last minute resort for me. It seems the cleanliness and up keep of the location has gone way down. During the Christmas store hours it was a mess. But the staff at the registers are always polite. There is an older lady with red hair, nice dresser, I wish I knew her name. She was very nice with the customers and took the time to sanitize the areas in between each transaction. If you come in looking suspect, the ladies at the make up counters will treat you like one. I saw a lady follow a lady through out the store. It was obvious to me and very rude of the sale person. This isn't one of my favorite Macy's locations. FRAGRANCE SECTION: If you 're young or look young don't expect them to approach you. I stood in the men's cologne section for atleast 40mins smelling different ones before I had to approach a worker (mind you he's been watching me since I entered) for help in which the man (older guy) said if I was ready to get rung up with an attitude. I have mixed feelings over Macy's. There are some customer service folks that are attentive and helpful. Then there are customer service folks that don't give you the time of day! This is why most consumers are shopping online because there is no customer service to deal with except for yourself. I went through Macy's.com to buy a bed frame mattress and box spring I ordered the white glove service this is a HUGE scam the bed frame was delivered the next day in a box and the mattress was set to be delivered today so since I got the white glove service I thought they would assemble the bed ?! No apparently the bed is from a 3rd party? I ordered from Macys? And the white glove service is that they bring the bed in and take the plastic off the mattress? What a scam! I thought going through Macy's I would be getting great service? The delivery people couldn't bring the bed into the room as the other bed is in there they couldn't take the frame of the bed only the mattresses? The delivery guys where nice it was not their fault they where just doing there job Macy's is a fraud now I am left to find someone to assemble my bed another cost I paid $125.00 for white glove ? The mattresses were left in the bag in my hallway? This location of macys is one of the unpleasant ones. I was at southland mall macys on Saturday November 23rd, 2024 at 4:00-5:00pm in the mens fragrance department. It was a more busier time of the day being a weekend evening and black friday being next week. The old women working in the mens fragrance department just stand around with fragrance strips in their hands. They do not greet you, they do not approach you to offer if you'd like to smell the fragrance sprayed on the paper strips they are holding in their hands. They blatantly ignore you with a straight face if you smile and say hi. They will talk sh*t in each others ears about customers and judge them. I greeted a few of these old ladies working there and they will turn and look the other way. I did not feel welcomed, i felt that i was not liked nor belonged there. I was just standing around waiting to be helped, meanwhile those old ladies working there do not even approach and consult with customers. The whole experience today felt uncomfortable and i felt discriminated against. There was two guys, and one lady i noticed that were helping employees out and greeting them. They were behind the counters consulting and making sales. I do not know there names but kudos to those three specifically. Ive been to other macys locations at the mens fragrance department and the ladies at these other locations that stand around with paper strips of fragrance will offer you to smell them, they will greet you kindly and make you feel welcomed. They will respond if you say hi to them first. They will direct you to an employee that can help you purchase an item. Do not be surprised if you go to the mens fragrance department of southland mall macys and get ignored. They have terrible customer service at the mens fragrance department and from what ive read southland mall macys have bad service at other departments as well. Keep in mind not every single employee will be like this. However be advised the old ladies at the fragrance department are no help. They wont even greet you with a smile or say hi. If you approach, greet them and seek help, you will be ignored. Ive been to this location multiple times to the mens fragrance section. I always left feeling unwelcomed and irritated. Macy's Back Stage opened up on the second floor and it's a pig stye! Merchandise on the floor everywhere in certain isles. This review is for the blond girl at the Lancôme counter associate number 71115670. My mother came in to do an exchange for me. This girl didn't not allow the exchange even with the barcode said it was against the stores policy which is completely wrong. She had a very nasty attitude towards my elderly mother who suffers from anxiety. My mother should not have to deal with attitude from someone working in retail, period. She's very lucky I wasn't there but I am seriously considering going up there in person to address this matter. The return shouldn't have been put on a Macy's card when the item was bought with a debit card. Corporate has been called as well as the counter but I will see this gets resolved appropriately. Haven't been in-person SHOPPING in a while, but wanted a staple for my wardrobe, a Classic Button-Down White Shirt with collar, 100% cotton, the on-line options were not giving "CRISP", so I headed to MACY's--as they generally have a fine selection of Business Professional Classic garments. I went to the 2nd floor and saw a section earmarked "BACKSTAGE", where I found The Shirt(!)--Yay!; also a nice black & white lightweight dressy blouse, another beautiful tropical blue eyelet Button-down collared blouse and lastly, a mildly wide-legged pant that was black palm-leaf print on a natural-flax/linen like backdrop (fancy pants!). I had recently ordered & RETURNED a water-repellant jacket & had still hoped to find one--lightweight with a SHAPE. So as I looked around, I hung my purse on the end of a clothing rack--along with my 4 selected garments--to try on a jacket, it wasn't a fit. I recovered my 4 items, sans purse(!). A woman came with arm extended with my purse and asked if it was mine I said "yes", Thanked Her, several times and kept looking (for an Easter Dress?). I noticed she was looking where I was looking...I wondered if she was lurking for a MONETARY REWARD...I didn't have much cash on me, so that wasn't going to be offered. Then, it dawned on me (Prompted) to offer to buy HER a dress; I told her, "I'm ready to go, get yourself a dress, I'll pay for it...I don't have much cash, but I have good credit"...IMMEDIATELY, she picked up a burgundy sleeveless bodice CHILD's dress with full bone-toned toile multi-tiered bottom skirt for the 10-12year old girl with her and said she was having a celebration and the theme was PURPLE, etc., I said "...walk to the counter with me, I'll get it." I spoke to the young girl, "that looks like a Dancing Dress, can you dance?" She smiled...at the counter, I asked the young clerk "BEATRIZ/Beatrice(?)" if she could ring the dress up separately and include a gift receipt & ensure I got a receipt...she said "of Course! That's not a problem"...Then I asked the woman who'd selected that dress "How much is the dress?"...i could kinda see the label. it was $29.99...So when BEATRICE rang it up, it was only $9.99, while that process was happening gift-receipt, charge card etc., I was Prompted to ask the woman "Does she have Shoes?"...Of Course the woman says "NO"....Then I tell the young girl to pick a GiftCard...(there were 2 Golden colored background blank gift cards) I urged her to go for the GOLD...she did, I added that $50 Gift card...The woman had a son 14(?), and an older daughter @15-17(?)...The transactions were (finally) over, I gave the mom the Gift Card with Activation Receipt; the Dress with a Gift Receipt; got my Own 4(!) items --and was DONE(!)--"Stick a fork in me", done!) Wanted to Express GREAT APPRECIATION for BEATRICE (BEATRIZ)--She was EXTRAORDINARILY PATIENT, KIND, THOUGHTFUL, CONSIDERATE, and BEST of ALL: Efficient. I eventually asked her what was *The BACKSTAGE* Section--were they Returns, Irregulars?....No, she explained--like Macy's Own "shop for less" Marked down Items, low stock items, seasonal shifts...but still QUALITY. Review for Online Pickup After receiving my email notification to for pick up, I headed to Macy's hoping for a good pick up experience. The email instructed me to the "At Your Service" counter for pickup, which I noticed shortly after entering the store. There were two lanes to the counter. One for online pickup and the other for returns and exchanges, gift card purchases and bill paying. I was the next and only one in line as the two clerks were handling exchanges for the customers they were helping. After about five minutes, another clerk in the counter area noticed that I had been waiting walked up to me and directed me to a cashier in the nearby men's department and the clerk there would help with my online pickup. The clerk scanned my email and said she would be right back. She returned with my order, printed a receipt and I was on my way. I haven't shopped this Macy's in a while due to subpar experiences, but this online pickup experience exceeded by expectations. I feel confident with placing an online order again. read more

This Macy's is a sad excuse for a department store. That being said, no wonder I do my shopping online. I only came here because I was shopping for a last minute gift and other items. Every single department I went to, none of the associates were willing to help or took initiative. For instance, I'm the only person in the shoe department and the sales associate just stands there and stares at me, no greeting, no acknowledgement. I go to the register, the lady leaves the register without saying anything. I thought I was in a horrible dream. Even the lady at the fine watches dept. saw me shopping for a while and didn't acknowledge me, so I had to call for her. It's no wonder stores close down. This particular one where options are limited and sorry excuses for customer service humans taking up space is on its way to retail heaven. If I need to go to Macy's next time, I'll just go to Pleasanton or Concord, where customer service still exists. Otherwise, I'll continue to shop online like I prefer to do anyways. read more
