I needed some basics and was shopping with a bunch of things to try over my arm. Back in the day, a Macys salesperson would've politely asked if she could start a fitting room for me and relieve me of my burden. Today, a salesperson sternly admonished me that I'd only be allowed to try three items at a time because it's too much work for them to put things away. I went to the fitting room with my things anyway and there was a huge line. There was also a huge line at the cash register. All of this, along with the store in disarray with lots of things on the floor, made me feel extremely unwelcome and that they really don't value my business. Sadly, I was unable to get the things I needed today, Macys has lost my business, and I'd advise shopping elsewhere. Macys has really fallen down on the job. read more

My favorite go-to place in the Serramonte mall. I have been shopping at Macy's with my parents and now myself since I was 10 year old. Macy's has great sale, if you can find the item yourself, you will find a lot of good deals. During the holiday, it can be very hectic. Overall, I love Macy's! Nice staff that are helpful especially in the designer bags section, beauty section, and mac cosmetics. Limited stock on certain items. I went into the store looking for cologne and was nicely greeted by a cute friendly worker named Marissa, in the Dior section. She gave me multiple testers to smell to see which one I would of liked. As I was looking at their Dior Sauvage cologne, she said it was the most popular one she had sold, liked and recommended so I went with that and also went ahead with the purchase of their Prada Carbon cologne as well. Had a nice great scene to it. I really enjoyed my short visit to that Macy's section as Marissa was very friendly, helpful and giggly. Was very helpful throughout my purchase and visit. read more

Purchased a gift for a cousin's wedding, and paid for gift packaging and a gift receipt. I received it in 6 days per the shipping option I chose. Received the item in a box that was poorly taped. Tape came right off so easily. Upon opening the box, my Item was not gift packaged and there was no receipt or invoice anywhere in the box. Item was also dinged up because the box used to package it was four times the size and hardly any packing material was used. I ordered online for next day pick up and chose Union Square to pick up my ornament, but when I received the email confirmation, it said Serramonte. I called, but they couldn't change it or cancel it. So, I reordered and the second time it went to Union Square and I picked it up the next day. I have been calling Daly City every day to cancel the order that is there and get refunded! I finally got a hold of the Store Manager Kim and she asked for my order number, Driver's License number and other personal information so she could take care of the return herself. She said she would call me back the same day and she didn't...and she still hasn't and my refund has not been processed. It's an entirely elevated level of disappointment and extremely bad customer service, when the STORE MANAGER makes a promise to do something reasonable...and fails miserably. I am a beauty product slut. I have no brand loyalty. I buy (fill in the blank), lose interest quickly, leaving me with a bathroom counter littered with half empty containers. The only exception: MAC Cosmetics. I use up every single precious ounce, then turn in six completely empty containers & get a free lipstick via their recycling program. I am fiercely loyal to their products because it's affordable, wearable & rich in color. Five stars for the brand! These are a few of my favorite things: * LiquidLast Liners in Point Black, Inky & Inkspill...MAC's eyeliner is like American Express to me--I never (ever) leave home without it. * Prim+Prime Eye: the only thing that keeps my (admittedly sometimes drag queenish looking) eye shadow in its place. * Lipstick in "Syrup" (Satin): the perfect light pink to put over bolder colors I am not a Macy's fan, however, I am a fan of this particular MAC counter. Last week, I came in for essentials (i.e. eye makeup remover) & my free lipstick, "Mystic," which is now my favorite color. The two MUA (makeup artists) were quick to greet me, assist me & ring me up (I shop quickly; I know what I want.) This counter is a lot less busy than the MAC stores I frequent (Fillmore, Burlingame [now closed], Union St, Stonestown.) FYI: They are pre-selling their holiday palettes. read more

It's been a while since my last review for Serramonte Macy's and not much has changed. It's the closest one to me which is convenient when I need to buy clothes for work, but it's also the messiest one. Compared to the nearby Stonestown and Hillsdale locations which actually look pretty classy and organized, Serramonte Macy's just look trashy, clothes are all over in messy piles and all mixed up. It's pretty understandable during the holidays I guess, but I'm not seeing the same mess over at the Macy's at Stonestown or Hillsdale. One thing that I'm glad to see that they changed was that they got rid of the carpet in the men's fitting room. It was blood stained from people stepping on the needles stuck in the carpet. That was just gross to see so I'm glad they replaced it with a laminated floor. It may not be the best Macy's around here, but at least I can come here for a quick purchase. read more

Bad customer service + incompetent staffing = WORST experience EVER I walked in with a very used eyeliner pencil and requested something similar. I knew what I wanted, I had a need, and I was ready to dish over the money- it would have been EASIER to sell to me than to take candy from a baby. But they messed up REAL bad! - Did not get greeted upon entrance - Had to wait 10 min for help - Once I got help the employee simply handed me a pencil and said "here" - when I asked her about the product (waterproof? duration? etc) she was VERY short w/me....THEN SHE LEFT ME mid helping me out!!!...and the store was not even busy (night time, random week day) (But thats not even that bad) HERES WHERE IT GETS REALLY HORRIBLE: I walked up to her and asked her if she sanitized the eyeliner and she said she FORGOT!!! So she walked over to her booth and cleaned it. I went to put on the pencil and.... MY EYES STARTED BURNING! ...turns out she used some kind of a brush cleaner to "sanitize" the eyeliner. OUCHHHH! You are def supposed to use make up remover to clean the external part of the eyeliner NOT CLEANING PRODUCTS WITH CHEMICALS on make up that go into someone's eye. THE NEXT DAY I GOT PINK EYE! I don't frequent as often as some of the other clothing department stores in the Bay Area but if I had to choose between this location and the Stonestown location I am definitely coming here. I have never been disappointed when I have come here except on a BLACK FRIDAY!!! When you get Macy's you can readily identify the men's and women's sections, shoes, bedding, etc. All the directional signs are posted and clear to help you get to the department that you're looking for. If you are looking for some quality name brand items then you can find that but if you are looking something not as pricey then you can find that as well. Every time that I have come here the shelves have been stocked and finding what I needed has always been easy for the most part. The only downside is that there can be mixing of clothes sizes due to customers throwing clothes wherever they want which can be a bit frustrating. So, make sure the double check the label inside the clothes and prices tags. Getting the Macy's credit card does in fact seem like the key to getting better prices when shopping but that is at your discretion. The other great thing about this location, in my experience, is that the associates do not pressure you to open a Macy's card which is cool. I do suggest that coming after a holiday sale is always the best way to go because of the increase in discounted prices. #ShopTillYouDrop read more

I received top notch personal service from a very friendly woman named Elin in men's sportswear last Wednesday afternoon. If I lived up here I would try and steal this employee away from Macy's. I live 400 miles away and travel to San Francisco once a month. This time I forgot to bring some sweat pants to sleep in at the hotel, and since this Macy's was close I went here. I walked around the store for a bit looking at different sweat pants and that type of sportswear. I found a few things but not in my size. I saw a rack of t-shirts that looked nice and even though I don't need any t-shirts they were pretty cheap, so I carried a couple up to the counter. At least I was going to get some shirts, and I figured I would head somewhere else for some sweat pants. At the counter, Elin asked if I found everything I wanted. I told her I couldn't find any sweat pants in my size. That was it... she made it her mission to find me some sweats in my size. She searched the computer and found some in a couple of different areas of the store. She graciously asked me if I would mind waiting for her while she went off to get them. 5 minutes later, I saw Elin coming my way waving the sweat pants like a victory flag. She indeed found the perfect pair, my size and everything. On top of that they were the least expensive pair I had seen and a true bargain. So she began to ring me up. I saw her looking around for something on the counter... and she produced a coupon. She scanned it and gave me a nice discount on the t-shirts that were already a good price. I asked her to wait while I walked over to the rack and picked out all the other t-shirts like that in my size. I left with my sweat pants, a whole wardrobe of t-shirts and a very good feeling about Macy's. I had not been a Macy's customer before but next month when I return to San Francisco I will leave time to return to this place. read more

I love M.A.C.'s fluidline, eye shadows, and fragrance. The first time I ever came to this M.A.C. counter I had a very bad experience. I didn't get any help and right when I reached to look at a specific eye shadow a specific associate talked to me like I was a 5 year old. "OH you can't take the product from the shelf, you have to ask an associate to help you." "But I just wanted to see..." "No..here let me do it." WTF no one was helping me! Screw you lady! That is why you didn't make a sale from me. The next few times that I came the workers were soooooo nice and helpful. They made sure I got what I needed and from the minute I stepped in till the minute I left I had a smile from them the whole time. I think these kind of associates deserve a raise! Great customer service indeed. Anyways, the fluidline I got lasted 6 months and I use it every day. 6 months people! Totally worth the $16. It works really well and it stays on the whole day without reapplying. There are so many eyeshadow selections from cream color to black. Shimmer to no shimmer. Any color you can think of they have! Last but not least the fragrance! I love love love their fragrance. It doesn't have a big smell like perfume and it lasts the whole day. Macy's has gone greatly downhill -- and I mean fallen off the cliff -- since I've last visited and the Serramonte location is living, breathing proof of that. I was recently promoted at work and have been looking for new business suits. I prefer a classic style and have been having difficulty finding them in San Francisco. I was advised by a friend to check out Macy's. She warned me that Macy's sells their business suits as separates (as in the jacket is sold separately from the skirt/slacks) and warned me that finding a match can be a chore but I was desperate for a suit and decided to check it out anyway. My friend's warning proved to be an understatement. There was absolutely no organization to the rack and racks were so overfilled with clothes that it was hard to look through them. I tried holding clothes in my hand so that I can push through remaining items with my other hand but it was just exhausting to do (clothes get heavy after awhile and there was just too many of them. Even with a lot of clothes in my hand, it was still hard for me to pull out an interesting item with the other hand and look at it and there was no room for me to temporarily move clothes to another rack). There was no organization to where clothes was placed -- not by color, not by size, not by brand or style -- and, it was hard to find the matching piece to interesting items. I gave up and decided to go to the restroom before leaving the mall. This is where it got really freaky. To make a long story short, I was followed into the bathroom (which was large with multiple stalls but also dimly lit and dirty) by a strange woman who stood in the stall next to me and, pressed herself against the divider between us, with her toes on my side of the stall. She also peeked through the front door of my stall and watched me (she did not glance through the crack but stared). This was despite there being multiple empty stalls and her having seen me walk into the stall I was in (so she was not merely checking to see if my stall was empty). Luckily 2 women came into the bathroom and I used that as an opportunity to push past the Peeping Tom and exit the bathroom. Lines were long & I could not find anyone to report this to. So, needless to say, I will NOT be back to this Macy's. Not only is the store poorly maintained and cluttered but there was so little personnel on the floor that I could not report a strange and possibly threatening situation. read more

Discrimination! The worse Macy's customer service by an employee name LUIS. This is the second time the cashier was very rude to me. I came up to the register holding the other pair of shoe in my hand and Luis immediately told me he couldn't help me because he was the only one that is covering the register. I asked him kindly if he can call for back up or his manager to help he then responded no I'm sorry no one is available without attempting to even call for back up. Then he looks at me and he pretends to be looking for a phone number after a few minutes he stated that he supposedly called for a manager. I had a couple items in my hand for price check because there were no price tags on the clothes I was interested in purchasing. He then set my merchandise aside including the shoe that I was waiting. He then attended to the customer behind me and she requested for him to check on the shoe that she was holding. He spoke to her in Spanish and He took the shoes and left the register and went to the back of the store to find her shoes. I was in awe to see this happen! I stood there and looked at him and said to myself "seriously?" He is a racist and I felt discriminated! Eric another employee was nice enough to help me and get the shoe that I was holding. Franklin and Dustin who are the managers came to help and I told them everything t that happened and to make sure they playback the cameras because that was very ignorant, rude, unprofessional, and most of all poor customer service. Again, the first time LUIS was very rude to me I had left my items on the counter and left because I was embarrassed with the whole situation. This is the second time and I am so done with his attitude! It just shows ignorance and uneducated people are still out there and will discriminate against you. People with this type of attitude should not be working in a place where customer service is 90% at most 100% required. You're in Sales!! You need to be nice and respectful to your customers! I hope people can read this and become more aware of their community. Macy's Human Resources, please provide training and professionalism workshops to your employees. Thank you. read more

As the hostess of this party, not just any sweater would do..... and I had been everywhere! Let's see.......where do I begin........I was looking for a particular scrub by Origins (usually sold in Macy's), so I go up to this lady in the cosmetics section and asked if they carried any Origins products........her response: "No, but they sell it at Macys" I felt so rude when I couldn't stop laughing in her face...ummmm I AM AT MACYS.....LOL. Hoo boy, retail is suffering and Macy's seems to think that copying Sears' techniques of "customer service" will stem the tide. It won't. They have removed several of their cash wraps, leaving only one in the basement and even that one isn't staffed. The middle floor has at least one that I found, but it gets backed up. Might be faster to just shoplift the item, get caught and arrested and processed and through trial than to get through their current cashier setup. But I digress. Obviously understaffed, areas aren't as organized as they once were, their "sale" area is the equivalent of a bad garage sale with broken orphaned items embellished with optimistic price tags. I found an item I liked, but after 15 minutes seeking an actual cash register that existed, was staffed, and ready for me to pay I realized one of the set items was broken inside the wrapping. When I pointed it out and asked if they can discount it to allow for the broken item, this required the cashier to disappear for approximately 10 minutes. Upon his return he said he had to wait for the General Manager of the store to come and make that decision. After about 5 minutes this harried guy showed up, I asked the same question, and he said he couldn't do it, but there's one downstairs if I want to go hunting. I was confused and overwhelmed at this point he offered to sell it for the full price, otherwise it was going to some other department. The whole thing didn't make sense and I was tired, so I declined. I got a second wind after sitting down a bit and went back in to find the unbroken set he saw in the system. Didn't find it in reality. I found him and told him I'll just pay full price for the broken one since I really liked it (and had spent about an hour on this dumb project by then). He said no, now it's somewhere that he can't sell it, something about liability for broken things cutting off fingers and such. Ugh. I don't know how many months THIS Macy's has to go, but guessing it could close doors around the same time as its sister store Sears at Tanforan. read more

Im crushed that the Bgame Ave location closed. Sadly, this is now the closest MAC to me. Recently I came here to just look around in general, and buy some new products. I asked one of the workers (a female) about some color recommendations. She told me to look through their little flip chart of different looks and tell her what I like. Okay, so I find one I like. I wanted to see how the colors would actually look on ME, so I ask if she could do that look for me. She says I need to purchase a minimum of 50 dollars for her to do my makeup. I try explaining that I just want to see if the colors would look good on me before buying, and I do not want my whole face done. Just the eyeshadow. Hell, she could even do just one god damn eye if she wanted and wipe it off after. But I get a stern no, I must buy 50 dollars of crap. Now im getting attitude from her. I never had this happen at the Burlingame location. I had the MUAs there do my *eyeshadow only* many many many times without a minimum purchase. They were much friendlier too at the Burlingame location. They also looked less trashy. Funny thing was, if she had done my eyeshadow, my total would have been well over 50 dollars already. As it was, i ended up leaving with just a lipstick. I will avoid this MAC at all costs. Sadly that means a trip to the Hillsdale mall, but in the end i guess its better for me. read more

What a joke! I ordered for curbside pickup and the worker told me one item wasn't available and can't refund me and told me to contact customer service. I did and they agreed to refund me but never did refund me. It's been almost a month and still no refund. I called customer service again this morning to ask about it and the rude lady told me that I needed to contact the store to dispute this but no matter how I tried to get help, that was her same rude response.
