I had a very disappointing experience here last time I shopped in store. I was in line to pay and the cashier offered the man ahead of me a union discount, without proof of membership. When I went to pay they did not offer the discount. I told the cashier I'm in the plumbers union and he asked for proof of union card. My husband was behind me in line and when the cashier rang him up he said "you're in a union, right?" and offered the discount. My husband is a non union electrician so he declined the discount. The cashier didn't know we were together. I was so excited to shop here but can't help but feel discriminated against because I'm a woman. Bummer. read more

They have a great selection of all the top brands of boots and also offer a 10% discount to union workers, which is fantastic when you're buying $250 boots. The service has been great I'm the pass. Alway got good recommendation on shoes from from employees. This last visit the shoe I was recommended wasn't that great. It was comfortable, but didn't meet the abuse. I had it less than three months and already tearing apart. I walked into the store showed him the shoe. Wasn't looking for anything in return. The owner accuse me. Of wanting to return it for full price not the case I explained to him I'm a shopper and I want a shoe that would last. He started yelling and accusing me of always doing the same thing. I told him I'm here to buy a shoe and he continued to hassle me about it. Not sure if he was the owner, but I felt uncomfortable. After being a faithful customer for five years give or take , I decided to take my business somewhere else. Other than that the employees were great and professional. In a nut shell, I came here the day before and they were closed, they have the old hours on the website-which I followed. On yelp the hours are correct. Review-Amazing stock and a lot of safety shoes to choice from. The employees gave me great customer services and appreciated the recommendations they gave me. These types of places are more expensive than online. Usually by $20 or so. However, when you need or want it now then I'm happy it exist. Bought myself boots for work and happily paid because it employs a couple employees and they gave good service. Plenty of options, all high quality. This place has THE best selection of work boots I've seen on the west side of the bay... like 10-15 different varieties of high quality OSHA approved waterproof boots with different types of safety toes, electrical hazard, slip resistant, puncture proof soles... All in one! Tested brands like Thorogood, Red Wing, Caterpillar, Wolverine, Keen... I had a difficult time finding places that had boots with even one or two of these qualities together after searching many stores in San Francisco. I ended up at this store after searching for a shop in the Bay that would offer a selection of work boots. I was not disappointed. Shoe Depot has a comprehensive selection of work boots -- steel toe, non-steel toe, waterproof, tall, short, leather, synthetic. Their prices were totally reasonable, with many of the boots on sale. Their selection of work clothes was also fairly extensive, with lots from Carhartt, Ben Davis, Dickies, and even some Skillers and lesser-known brands. The staff was friendly and helpful without being pushy, and knowledgeable about their products. The only gripe I have is that as with most work/outdoor clothing stores, women and smaller men may have difficulties finding things here that will fit well. read more

It's funny. You wouldn't think much of this place if you weren't actually looking for work boots. Right as I walk in, the owner Ron welcomes me and helps me locate some Thorogood Moc Toes I have been eyeing for a while. I went ahead and tried them on, instantly falling in love with them. I was a bit indecisive on which color I was going with so I decided to sleep on it. Even though I could have got them a little cheaper online, I decided to return and buy from this shop. The quality of customer service and help was more valuable to me, so I decided to purchase through Shoe Depot. I was able to try on the shoes, and they even measured my feet to correctly choose the right boot size. Ron even gave me a discount without asking. Great guy. I plan to buy the same boots in a different color soon. NOTE: To the shoplifters stealing boots from here, shame on you. The day I came in to buy my Thorogoods, I noticed some of the higher priced boots moved up higher on the shelves. I sure hope they didn't think I was one of these people, but at least I bought the boots on the spot. read more

This is one of the few stores I stay loyal too. I've been living in the Bay Area for over five years now, and my job requires me to be on my feet all day. It's important to take care of your feet in my line of work. They always have the best selection for big people footed people, like myself, and each pair I buy lasts me at least eight months. Used to come here all the time over the course of 20 years, as the service was great and selection even better. However, that's changed recently. Went in, picked out a few items and placed them on the counter. Remembered I needed something else and started to walk away. The young lady at the counter yelled at me to get my stuff off the counter, as she didn't like things cluttered. Mind you, there was no one else in the store. The other workers started apologizing to me. I said out loud "Wow, nice Customer Service" at which the young lady told me to get out and never come back. My first visit was okay, was asked if I need help, and everything went smoothly. This time, not so much. The aisles are pretty small, so when an employee is blocking the aisle and texting, it kind of interferes with my shopping, especially when he is right in front of the section I need to look at. Wasn't asked if I needed assistance, he just stood there texting and watching the baseball game. If he was on break, he should at least stay out of my way. I have been to this spot a few times. I went in about two months ago and bought myself some new work boots and some carhartt coveralls. There price's are really reasonable and I got a discount as a local 467 union member. I went again today to buy some boot guards. They have the normal plastic ones but they also have a new one here. It's called KG'S Boot Guard. It looks like the same material that is put in the back of trucks. I was talking with Ronnie who said it's a new product for there store but is really popular in the east coast. I put a lot of wear an tear on my boots and was told by them that this new product will hold up better. It cover more area of the boot then the original plastic ones. read more
