Thoroughly impressed with my first visit to On the Run Shoes. It's been at least 20 years since the last time I had the kind of full service shoe shopping that they provide here. I arrived on a Saturday around noon, was greeted immediately upon entering, and was asked if I was in to browse or if I needed assistance. I chose the latter and was assigned very promptly to the sales specialist Will. He had me sit and asked me questions on what I was looking for. I told him about my new work situation and he asked what kinds of aches and pains I was experiencing in my feet at work. I told him it was primarily in the arch and ball of my foot and I was mostly worried about my knees and lower back. My job involves shipping and order fulfillment and I work out of a converted home in the city - all day long I'm either standing, carrying boxes up and down stairs, or running around doing various tasks. It's rare that I sit unless I'm on my lunch break. Will also had me take the shoes I was wearing off and walk back and forth in my socks so he could analyze my gait. Then he measured my feet and turns out that my shoe size is more of an 8 or 8.5 - I'd been wearing size 7 for years! After the consultation Will brought out three pairs of shoes for me to try. HOKA, New Balance, and Brooks. He put them on me and laced them up, then had me walk around in them and give him feedback. I figured out pretty quickly that the New Balance shoes felt the best - the other two were a little too roomy and wide - I like the feeling when a shoe is hugging my foot and is secure. I was also recommended to get special cork insoles for greater arch support and stability. Will put those insoles into the shoes I chose and had me feel the difference. I ended up purchasing both the shoes and insoles. Total with tax was just a little over $240. It's the most I've spent on shoes in decades but it's worth the splurge being that I'll be wearing these at least 5 out of the 7 days each week. At checkout I was told of their return policy - only store credit and the shoes have to be in re-sellable condition. I doubt I'm going to have problems with these after the very thorough consultation and selection process. Thank you to everyone and especially to Will for an amazing experience. I'll definitely be back and also highly recommend anyone to go here if you want happy feet. I take public transport in the city and the 44 MUNI drops me off literally across the street from the shop at 9th and Irving.

The wooly rascal slippers last for a long time and because of the natural shealing they don't get as smelly as other slippers. We now order from their online store.

She has had the original one I purchased for her for over 10 years now and also has a couple others. The leather has held up beautifully and the owner has gladly made minor repairs to the bag. I also have a couple of pairs of his sheepskin shoes/slipper/mocassins that come up to the ankle. Other than them stretching a little over the years the sheepskin and soles holds up extremely well. Rather than give my money to Uggs I prefer to give my money to a small business in the area. Wooly Rascals deserves it.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and felt taken care of. He asked me what I was looking for, sized my feet/arches and even had me go on a test run to see what would best fit my needs! The best way I can describe it is like Olivander's in Harry Potter but for running shoes. They carry things none of the big box stores have, but that is highly sought after in the running community. Everyone there was knowledgeable, they offered suggestions, brought me multiple shoes to try on that might also work for what I wanted. They carry RAD running products which is amazing and I got a chance to try on some before buying them blindly online. Don't be fooled by the cozy nature of the shop. It has big energy and good vibes. They a have a coffee shop in the back, they offer community events and runs, they also do a collab with an amazing bakery, Astranda Bakery. Given that they sell really specific running brands, none of the prices were marked up, all were at MSRP. I really appreciated the space and how welcoming it was. I have been to smaller shops down in LA but they are nothing like this. I could have just hung out there all day! I ended up purchasing a whole new outfit plus some Rad Synths. I honestly had not gone shopping for "girl clothes" for myself in more than a decade, and Janelle somehow turned what could have felt awkward and uncomfortable into such a wonderful experience. She was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive without ever making me feel pressured. She helped me choose boots, accessories, and an entire outfit that felt like me and was perfect for the event I was attending. More importantly, she made me feel special and genuinely good about myself. That is something I won't forget. I came back a second time with my 15-year-old son, who wanted a hat and some jeans. This time Alex and Serena joined Janelle in helping him, and watching the three of them interact with him was honestly pretty special. James had never really gone shopping like this before or experienced sales associates taking the time to focus on him, listen to what he liked, and help him find things that made him feel confident. And they did exactly that. Alex, Serena, and Janelle treated him like his opinion mattered. They encouraged him, helped him figure out what looked and felt right, and genuinely lifted him up. Of course, Janelle also managed to recommend a few more things for me while we were there, so I left with more than I planned - and was completely happy about it.
