I was completely taken off guard when I was rudely ordered to "please move! Stand over there!" I didn't see any signs saying where to stand. I can only assume that she didn't like being watched. I know these are challenging times but there is a polite way to handle these situations. I'm a senior citizen and that human interaction was the only one I had all day.

My top picks are the Nutty Cashew smoothie and Green Goddess bowl, but I end up enjoying whatever I get, even when I order outside my usual go-to flavours. Their stuff is not cheap but it's absolutely worth it. Their prepared wraps are also very good, as are the baked goods they carry by Rebel and To Live For. They have an extensive selection of protein powders and other supplements - I'm not into supplements besides protein powder so I wouldn't really know, but I find it hard to imagine needing something in that department that they don't carry. Even though I'm not the gym bro that the brand is probably aimed at, and you can definitely tell by looking at me, I never really feel out of place coming here for my smoothies and meals and occasional protein impulse buys. The staff is always friendly. Just keep in mind it can get busy and you may have to wait a while because the process is just not the fastest, especially for bowls, and even one of the premade wraps will take a few minutes if you opt to get it heated (which you should). But I highly recommend checking them out for a smoothie or (relatively) quick and healthy meal!

Price wise, after tips and tax it was a little over $16, which is quite steep for a smoothie. But the size of the cup was close to a venti at Starbucks if that gives you a gauge. This was a special ish summer drink, so maybe that's why it's a bit more expensive. If you choose other drinks from their menu, it'll probably be a bit less expensive. Don't quote me on it though. They also sell a bunch of health supplements, and which grab and go sandwiches and drinks! I want to try their smoothie bowls in the future!

I then suggested that we come back to Kitsilano but try Kokomo instead since I had some plant based deals for Kokomo and they sell the same kind of stuff. So we came and used out both my plant based deals. One was a BOGO free deal on summer drinks, and the other was 25% of any Kokomo bowl. My daughter got a Hibiscus lemonade, I got a Spearmint lemonade and we shared a Kokomo acai bowl which had frozen acai, berries, banana, raw granola (house-made), mint and toasted coconut. The drinks weren't bad but I wasn't blown away by them either. They were refreshing and thirst quenching for the hot summer day that it was. Don't think I need to try Spearmint lemonade again though. This was our first time trying and Acai bowl, and we are totally hooked on them now! I wanna learn how to make this at home now. It was so refreshing. Is there anything more satisfying than eating something that's healthy and tastes good too?! I suppose you could also just call it a smoothie bowl. As much as we enjoyed this combination, I could see us having a similar type of bowl at home and substituting the acai with some other kind of pureed fruit. 5/5 for the Kokomo acai bowl!
