Now the reason this review isn't 4 or 5 stars is because COMMUNICATION seems to be an issue aside from my device being there for over a month in waiting for a battery "that worked" & the internal connector or such to be fixed. The timing wasn't so much an issue as the lack of communication was. It's like I would like to at some point have an answer or my device back after a month. Because if you've got back ups or are absent minded, then they'll keep your stuff for a long time if you forget it's there. Otherwise, communication in actually calling & giving updates would be good instead of wondering if your device is just sitting there or is being used as a paper weight.....

When I arrived, there was a sign on the door that said "due to a water leak the location is closed and to please call a phone number". I called the number multiple times but nobody picked up. I made another appointment at their Seattle location and drove over. There, it seemed like making an appointment doesn't make any difference in their process. I asked for a quote on the repair, and they told me I need to pay a $70 diagnostic fee for them to give a quote. I understand that my personal diagnosis may be incorrect but I don't understand why asking for the cost of a specific repair requiring a specific part can't be answered straight up without a "diagnostic fee" extortion. I ended up leaving the place and will be tackling the repair myself. The cherry ontop was that when I explained my poor experience at their Bellevue location, the gentleman at the counter told me this was outside his control.

A little over a week ago, my cat decided to water test my laptop. Long story short, a glass of water spilled into (!) my laptop. The laptop sat immersed in this pool of water for nearly 20 hours. Everything was complete toast. Although most of my files are in the cloud, especially the most important ones, I decided there might be the occasional file or folder that I might not notice tomorrow or even a year from now. I decided it would be best to retrieve the contents of the drive on the laptop for peace of mind. I left the laptop with them to do an assessment first. That assessment was ~$80. After their assessment, they indicated that the contents of the drive were retrievable and gave me an estimate of $400 to retrieve the contents of the drive (the $80 would apply to that figure). I decided it was worth the cost, if for nothing more than that elusive peace of mind. I also needed a drive to put the contents on (or provide my own). Since I didn't have one, and didn't want to bother with purchasing a 3rd party drive, they charged me $140 for a Toshiba Portable Storage device. So, for about $600 (w/ tax) I got everything off the lost drive. Was it worth it? Without a doubt. Would I go back? Hell yeah.

And then you left it there and they fixed it. Now, it's obvious they don't want the local, neighborhood individual with a problem. They make it next to impossible to connect with anyone from just trying to find them on Roosevelt to no one answering the phone when you call them repeatedly just to make an appointment. They couldn't say more clearly, "We don't want you!" Stay away from them, they're not for you.

I didn't know who to take my computer to for a fix other than the Geek Squad at Best Buy, who haven't been very helpful to me in the past. I figured I'd have to just suck it up and go buy a new, more compliant desktop computer that day. However, I checked with Yelp first just to see if there were any shops nearby that might be able to fix my computer. I'm really happy I came across PC Consulting. Dave was able to help me immediately. I brought him my computer, he tried a bunch of things to diagnose, and even though he confirmed that my motherboard had joined the Great Computer in the Sky, he was able to save my hard drive and memory and install it in a really inexpensive, temporary solution. He also gave me some great suggestions for my next computer even sending me a link to a great deal on Dell's website ($200 off!) for a computer ideal for my usage. He's a really nice guy. We chatted for a little bit more about geeky stuff before I took my temporary computer home to see if I could again VPN to my company. Success! Thanks to Dave, I was actually able to finish my work for the day, a feat I really didn't think I'd be able to achieve, let alone in just a few hours from when I discovered my original computer was dead. And I spent a couple Benjamins less than I'd expected.
