I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with the service provided by Alan, the "MacDoctor" who transferred my files from my old computer to my new MacBook Air. His service started with my distressed phone call from outside an Apple Store about my "dead" computer and my angst about the possibility of loosing all of my data. The Apple store was able to remove my hard drive but unable to transfer the data to another computer and THEY referred me to a store whose technician told me he was unable to do the transfer because the M.2 enclosure needed was proprietary to Apple .....go figure? Apple also said they could send my computer "out" to diagnose the problem........ at an outrageous cost. ENTER Alan from MacDoctors. My daughter had used MacDoctors a few yrs ago and gave them a 5 star rating, so I gave Alan a call. We set an appointment for the next day and he arrived at my home....ON TIME! Not only did he assure me, in about 5 seconds, that he could do the transfer, he also answered a ton of my and my husbands questions about computer "stuff". He diagnosed my old computer problem and showed me a photo of the inner workings of the computer with the problem in plain view. All this, at a cost less than what the Apple Store quoted me to send my computer out for diagnosis...... without transferring my hard drive to a new Apple computer. When I called Alan, my computer was jammed so bad supposedly from excessive abuse. The situation was so bas he couldn't diagnose it remotely from his studio that he came to my house to look at it. From his experiences, this looked like it would be quite expensive to repair it if it could be repaired. He suggested me to consult with the Apple diagnostic department before spending money and later to find out money would be wasted. The Apple technician also find it was not a simple solution. I would be spending extra money just find out what would be the problem. My final answer was to buy a new Apple computer which I did. He's a cool dude, and broke things down in automotive terms, which made sense to me and brought some needed clarity. He suggested I update my engine with 16 gigs for speed, and now my computer is running better than before. He helped me expedite and shop for the parts and I could not be more pleased. Two of the most important qualities you get when you work with Alan are: (1) Easy and consistent access. He will call you back and text you PROMPTLY and not hang you up, and; (2) He is meticulously honest and fair in his billing. Little did I know that he'd respond within 5 minutes and we were online by 9am fixing my Mac.
