Sitting by the live music under a beautiful shade tree enjoying some fabulous wine!

Such a surprisingly lovely winery! My sister, who is a local, joined the club so we can visit often! Everyone there is super friendly, and the wines are delicious! Loved sitting by the live music, enjoying great company and wine!

What a gorgeous gem not too far from Sacramento! Thanks to my friend who told me about this winery that is one of her favs, and she gave me a gift card, friends and I made reservations. Upon arriving, I could already feel the serenity of this winery. The weather was perfect when we went, as the sun was shiny brightly, and the trees surrounding us gave us perfect shade. Dogs and children are allowed, making this such a family friendly winery. They have a covered area that is perfect for large parties also, adding a touch of privacy. We were fortunate to have live music, which added to the relaxing time we had at Macchia Wines. We appreciate how they allow us to bring our own food, so we could pair the wines with our food for our picnic. We enjoyed the flights we tasted so much, that we each bought more than one bottle to enjoy back home. Thank you to the staff who took care of us at Macchia Wines!

We had a lovely time at macchia on a Saturday afternoon . The service was excellent and they had no issue with us splitting a single set (we were pretty drunk when we came over ). The set was very good with one exception - the rose was too anemic and lacked a strong flavor . The rest were excellent with the old vine zin and the cab 2022 leading the pack . We will be back for sure !

The wine is decent. Facility is decent. Unfortunately, a staff are doing all kinds of things that make the place uncomfortable... First, they really need to slow down and greet people. They're texting behind the bar while serving using voice text which was actually quite funny. But just strange when you're wine tasting, They are all a little frazzled when it got just a bity busy and we're not communicating with customers or each other well. Made everyone uncomfortable. Then the way they addresses my kids and my wife were just pretty sad. They have a nice park like area with grass, swing seating, and a huge sign that says "it's all good" lol. I'm standing right there when an employee comes and tells my kids and their cousins, who were all sitting quietly on the swings, "this isn't a park and these are not swings you swing on, you can't be over here". Mind you that they are actually have chained porch swings and the kids were using them appropriately. Later she comes up to my wife randomly and says we have a rule that "all kids must remain seated the entire time". Which I think she just made up to be honest. And the kids were being very well behaved. My party bought two cases of wine, nearly $700 and we're having a get together at the winery.... and it was not busy outside. Just relax people.... or put some signs up outside and online that say "no kids allowed" if you want to be a bunch of weirdos. Or even better, be kind and welcoming.

We walked in around Saturday 3pm and it was sort of busy. They had live music outside so there were more people outside. We decided to do our tasting at the tasting counter. There's some people at the counter. But tasting room is spacious so you can stand and walk around. Tasting fee is $15 for 6 wines but we got an extra port. The sweet wines were better but not our taste since we like dry wines. They also have bocce ball area with swings. Looks like you can bring food or snacks.

Nice smaller winery. Went on a Sunday when it was less crowded but still enjoyed listening to live music and sitting inside the tasting room. Plenty of seating outside and there are heat lamps. Recommend the tastings. Very reasonable priced. Looking forward to returning after harvest/new wines are available.

One of our favorite wineries in Lodi. We love to buy/collect wines and they have one of the best wines so of course we became members....why not! Such a cute and intimate winery. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The "backyard" is where they have live music. There are tables all around. They have an area where you can have a small gathering/party and there is a nice fireplace and a bar so you or your guests don't have to go inside to get more wine....how convenient, right? Lol If you are in the area, make sure to stop by Macchia. Definitely a Lodi winery that you need to visit. Everyone we have spoken to who are wine lovers like us, love Macchia as well.

Some of the beat Zins around. Their wines are outstanding... The location is also a fun place to hang out with friends and relax. Highly recommend joining the wine club... You'll appreciate a regular supply of their wines when you're not out wine tasting.

Macchia Winery is still run the old fashioned way of great wines and all the employees are truly family. My wife and I have been wine club members for several years and we love the pick up parties.

Most recently we were on our way to one of our favorites when we saw a sign for Viaggio. We decided to pull over and try it out, and boy am I glad we did as we have just found a new favorite. Viaggio has one of the most beautiful grounds I have seen in the area. From the moment you arrive they have a walkway that gives a feeling of New Orleans bourbon street. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. They serve charcuterie, snacks, wood grilled pizza and even saw sushi on our trip. The staff were super friendly and let us try their sparkling before committing to a bottle. The sparkling was crisp with flavor notes of apple and lemon. We wound up ordering a bottle and enjoying it on the patio while we listened to their live music. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and we even saw a wedding party celebrating and taking photos. Highly recommend you add this one to your list when doing a Lodi trip.

There was a lot of people in and out of the venue, so it wasn't hard to find a seat. There isn't a ton of shade provided in their entertainment area, so if you come on a hotter and warmer day, bring a hat! The band that they had was amazing! They were so friendly and fun, and knew how to engage with the crowd well! The selection of wines to pick from are slim and they don't come with a lot of descriptions either. The service is somewhat on the slower side as well, and the lines can get really long. I would recommend just getting a few bottles to share with your company instead of always having to go back and wait more than 10-15 minutes in the lines. The food is fast and doesn't seem to be made fresh. Moreso on the side of frozen foods, so don't come too hungry!

Free Wine Tasting/Friendly Staff…read more What first drew me to Dancing Coyote was their name--sounding whimsical and Southwestern. When we drove up to their site, I wasn't really sure where it was located as the existing buildings looked like old industrial buildings, not your standard winery and tasting room. My partner and I guessed it had been a granary--it was built in 1868 right next to the raIlroad tracks, and was later converted into a winery in the early 1900s. Back then that initial winery became famous for their Port, and also made vinegar and brandy. We sat at the tables outside. I asked the server if anyone was living in the tall granary tower because we had noticed that the windows looked like they were fitted with stained glass. She answered with a chuckle, that only ghosts live there. Dancing Coyote has an interesting history. It is family run, and they have been farming the Delta region for five generations. They grow and harvest the grapes. They also do the crushing, aging and handcrafting the final product. The winemaker uses natural wild yeast that derives from the surfaces of the grapes to actually ferment the products on the flight that we tasted - they were really good and yummy on their own natural merits with a bright finish. Of course, I had to run around and experience this winery's own unique brand with my own eyes and camera in hand. There were several fig trees in which I found a perfectly ripe fig to eat. There was was this orange stuff "growing" on some of the outside walls that I had to touch, and then scratch my head because I couldn't figure out what it was. Near the fig trees, hidden from the eyes of most.of the two-leggeds that visit the winery, is a diagram painted on a rather large propane tank. Who painted it? Was it a human that "dances with coyotes"? I tried and tried to duplicate the dance that the artist painted on the tank. The trickster that painted that mural is probably laughing at the thought of people trying to follow the dance diagram. Their flights were FREE!!! There were four different wines included: 3 whites and 1 red. I usually prefer drinking red over white, however, there was something uncommon with their white wines--a certain kind of freshness/aliveness. I really liked how it felt in my mouth. After tasting those wines she brought three more wines for us to taste. We fell in love with their 2016 Loureiro - a Portuguese varietal. They had a special for $48 for a case, and we snatched it up in a heartbeat. We plan to return in our next visit to the Lodi wine making region to the same place, and see what other new vinicultural gifts that they have to offer us.

I had driven by many times and it seemed like an appointment only place but I guess now they have enough staffing to open up the hours and days of the week. First, their reputation has always been very good. They've had some recognition from some reputable wine sources so I had very high expectations for the wine. In, short, the wines were very good. They had a nice selection from rose to the more Lodi styled red wines. I really did enjoy all the wines and the price point seems fair. I guess I was kinda hoping to meet the winemaker, learn more about their vineyards and purpose for growing certain varietals. When you get wine with a story it makes the experience that much more enjoyable. I really like this place and I'm hoping to make a stronger connection with the business since I consider myself an advocate for Lodi wines since my hobby is to compare our wines with the best out in the other regions of CA. Pretty heavy competition but so far Lodi is more than able to compete with certain types of wines aka Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah and occasionally Cabernet.

One of the workers walked past our table and flagged down another worker to let her know that we had outside food. The other worker came over to our table to tell us they don't allow outside food. We literally had fruit and veggies for our children. I was already turned off that one worker told another worker about our outside food... As if she couldn't tell us herself. I do want to note that we purchased a charcuterie board, two pizzas and two bottles of wine from them. Then about two hours later, a worker who normally works in the kitchen with short hair... Female... Came out and told my son that he needed to stop folding the chairs down. I've attached the photos so you could see what the chairs looked like at the table. My son put them all down. She comes out and begins to flip them all back up as they appear in the photo. So my son starts helping her and then she said "OK I'll let you finish the job." She literally made my son flip all the chairs back. There was no sign on this table, stating it was reserved... There was no sign on this table stating not to touch it... It was literally an open table for guest. These chairs were like this (see photo) when we arrived at 1:30pm and they were like this until 4 PM when we left. This alone left a bad taste in my mouth and made me feel like this place that used to be kid friendly is not so kid friendly anymore. I literally felt like she could have flipped the chairs back when we left, but the fact that she came and approached my seven-year-old son and told him he needed to flip them back left a horrible taste in my mouth. As we left, the owner drove by in a golf cart and said "it was so lovely seeing you guys again!." My husband mumbled under his breath... "If only your staff felt the same way." I'll have to keep checking in because I remember loving it. Now revisiting probably 8yrs later I'm seeing the beautiful space that either somehow went unnoticed or just wasn't part of the entry point my first time in. (During my time here I learned that the spaces mentioned didn't exist the last time I made my way here (2017/2018ish). The grounds here are beautiful and absolutely somewhere I could bring my work or a book and just relax with a glass of wine, simultaneously taking in the views. The $15 fee (which is incredibly reasonable for what you see nowadays!) included 6 Portuguese style wines to sample. The Vino Cor de Rosa was a bit on the sweeter side for my liking. The Verdelho had a citrus/fruit note that I enjoyed with a green apple like finish. The Touriga was one I'd keep stocked. It had the nice dark fruit feel that I very much enjoy in a red. The type you want to keep flowing with a pasta (or even a hearty meat craving if you ask me!) The Souzao I'm not quite sure how to explain. Continuing my "Basic B" level of descriptions, it has almost a cola or Dr. Pepper taste to it (in a good way despite how odd my choice of description may seem!) The Syrah to me reads like a lighter port, though u can't quite pinpoint what brings me to that conclusion. Lastly, the Trincadeira was a nice seemingly light red that I wouldn't mind on the balcony with my book. It amazes me that with the grounds they have, they don't host much in the way of winery events (though they do host many private events). I can appreciate that it isn't the direction they're looking to go... but perhaps some day!
